Hello, lovely readers!

We are thrilled to release the February edition of Tarang! This month, we saw many impactful projects which have been the talk of the town, ranging from the Walkathon to End Polio Day. Let us keep our Rotaract spirits high and continue working on meaningful projects. We urge all our members to actively participate in all events and projects as it will create a larger impact on society if we have more hands joining together to make a difference. May we take this platform to say that, if you have any project ideas that we can implement, do get in touch with any of the board members and you will be presented with the opportunity to be the project chair for your idea. We also encourage our members to make use of Tarang’s special column, RCB’s Got Talent, where we celebrate anything you have achieved in your personal or professional life, or anything you have created or done, like paintings, poems, cooking new dishes, or photography. It can be anything at all and we love seeing our members accessing their creative side!

Rotary Theme of The Month Peace and Conflict Prevention or Resolution Month As a humanitarian organization, peace is a cornerstone of our mission. We believe when people work to create peace in their communities, that change can have a global effect. By carrying out service projects and supporting peace fellowships and scholarships, our members take action to address the underlying causes of conflict, including poverty, discrimination, ethnic tension, lack of access to education, and unequal distribution of resources. Our commitment to peacebuilding today answers new challenges: how we can make the greatest possible impact and how we can achieve our vision of lasting change. We are approaching the concept of peace with greater cohesion and inclusivity, broadening the scope of what we mean by peacebuilding, and finding more ways for people to get involved.

Rotary creates environments where peace can happen.

Events of February

1. RCB Speaker Series- Union Budget 2022 On 8th February, we conducted a webinar about the Union Budget 2022, under the Professional Service Avenue on Zoom. We had over 13 partnering Rotaract clubs and we had 240 attendees. The resources person for this webinar was Dr. Venkataraja B, MA, Ph.D. The areas he covered majorly focused on Digitalization, Infrastructure, Manufacturing, Automotive Industries, Taxation, Cryptocurrency, and the impact of the Budget from now on. Dr. Venkataraja shared his profound insights and opinions on the Budget and he considers this Budget the roadmap to digitalization. He took over the Q&A session in great detail. The webinar was a huge success in bringing clarity about the Budget and its contents.

2. Walkathon for Education On 20th February, On World Social Justice Day, Rotarians from Rotary Club of Bangalore and Rotaractors from 14 clubs across Bangalore, got together and walked for the cause of ”Right to Education” to raise awareness about education as a pillar to promote social justice. The Walkathon was given the perfect start with a rejuvenating yoga session, at RHF, by coach Parul. The walkathon commenced at 8.30 am from RHF, culminating with a brief gathering at the Mahatma Gandhi statue. The walkathon was followed by an appreciation ceremony and a hearty breakfast at RHF. We extend our gratitude to our parent club, Rotary Club of Bangalore for their immense support and guidance. The walkathon was a roaring success.

3. End Polio Day On World Immunization Day, i.e., 24th February, we observed Polio Day by being a part of the Pulse Polio Project. Our parent club, Rotary Club of Bangalore led the project in Chickpet and Magadi Road. This project benefitted 240 children.

RCB's Got Talent

1. Pack Your Bags! We’re Travelling Our resident traveler, Rtr. Chaula went on a trip to Diu, Somnath, and Sasan Gir. She says, “We went to Diu by road from Surat which is approx 550-600 km. We went to INS Khukri Memorial and then to the Goghla beach where I saw the most beautiful and mesmerizing sunset. We visited places like the Diu Fort, Gangeshwar Temple and Nagoa beach. The next day we reached Gir National Sanctuary and stayed in a farmhouse in the middle of the jungle where a lion literally came a few days ago to drink water. We went for the Sasan Gir Safari the following day and saw 2 lionesses and 5 cubs in the wild. We ate authentic village food and left for Bhavnagar. We took the Ro-Ro ferry from Ghogha (Bhavnagar) to Surat which was a totally new and amazing experience.”

2. Capturing Beauty in Nature Rtr. Rakshith took some breathtaking pictures! He says, “There’s a whole world out there, right outside your window. You’d be a fool to miss it.”

3. A Culinary Trip to Italy Rtr. Ria cooked a spicy arrabbiata sauce pasta! She says, “One of my favorite dishes to make is pasta. I love making different pasta sauces, and I experiment with different kinds of pasta as well. I used linguine this time.”
