OUR SIMBA
June 15, 2014 – May 31, 2024
One day the students brought a little ball of ginger colored fir into my office begging, “Oh, Ms. Karen please take him home;” The kids had named him Simba, a “lion Simba loved going on daily walks with Cricket, our dog I. Being a feral cat he did not show a lot of affection other than his love for “his” park. He was, although, my little “lover boy.” I called him my personal strip of Velcro; never letting go or getting close enough; my little cuddle bug.
During our recent walks I noticed something odd. It was time to take him to the veterinarian.
A large mass was discovered in his stomach. We would not be going home together. I was able to hold him close throughout the final process as he “crossed the rainbow bridge” while whispering in his ear, “I love you now, forever and always.”
Thank you to all of you who made him part of your life and for allowing him to come into your home if the door was open. Thank you for all your love and support through-out this incredibly painful time for me. We are all truly family!
I miss him walking through my door . . .
Happy trails to him until me meet again. Happy trails to him keep smiling on until then.
