At the hatchery, the process from hatching egg to day-old chick is optimally facilitated. It is mainly a logistic operation that is determined by the planned time for chick delivery to the rearing or broiler
py
farm. The date of delivery is the starting point to move back in time and define the best planning
co
schedule. The hatchery aims for optimal efficiency in all the process steps, with a high level of attention on biosecurity.
Pests are a hygiene hazard in a hatchery. Provide good pest control (mice) at the hatchery.

A hatchery has many contact moments with the breeder farms, and subsequently with the rearing and broiler farms. These multiple contacts also mean a risk of infections. And the hatchery plays a key role in terms of biosecurity. You prevent infections by sufficient attention to hygiene. Good hygiene is vital to reduce: • Early embryo mortalities (clear eggs). • Unhatched eggs. • Second-grade chicks. • Chick mortality later at the poultry farm. • Diseases at the poultry farm. • Bacteria that are a risk for humans (Salmonella, Campylobacter).
