Monitor turning
Regularly monitor that turning is taking place correctly. This is essential to ensure good chick quality and hatchability. You can use various tools to help you monitor this. Make sure the trolleys are all in the same tilt position at each calibration, otherwise calibration will not be accurate. Calibration is an essential part of maintenance, and the hatchery manager can do this. Replacing sensors is a specialists task.

Check the trolley is connected properly to the automatic turner.
The turning alarm is the least urgent alarm. One night without turning is not a problem. You must respond to a temperature alarm immediately because this is vital. Embryos will die or become damaged when the temperature is too high Eggs can also be placed in a tray horizontally, for a short period. This will compromise chick quality and performance. The CO alarm, as indicator of oxygen availability, is especially important in the second 2 phase of incubation. If the CO2 concentration is too high, there is likely to be insufficient O2 and a high RH. and then rolled. This method also turns the eggs, and with the effect of gravity and the formation of the air cell, they will automatically end up with the point downwards later in the incubation process. The eggs should be turned 3-5-times a day. Most incubators have a turning program set to once an hour. Check this by reading the counter and noting the tilt position. There is also usually a turning alarm. In this example, the copyright protected hatchery manager adds a stripe to indicate the tray position at each check in order to monitor the proper functioning.

Check regularly whether the tilt angle setting is correct. The tilt angle must be between 40 and 45°. You can use a digital or analogue measurement. Digital does not always mean more accurate! An incorrect tilt angle leads to a greater number of malpositioned embryos, and therefore unhatched eggs or late mortalities. You can also install a smartphone app for setting the tilt angle.
