Nederlands’ trots en zonder twijfel de meest toonaangevende beurs voor kunst, antiek en design ter wereld weet elk jaar weer de juiste snaar te raken. Door de jaren heen heeft de beurs een steeds internationaler karakter gekregen. Slechts een vijfde van de deelnemende handelaren komt uit Nederland, daarnaast zijn er negentien andere landen vertegenwoordigd, bezoekers meegeteld zelfs meer dan zestig. Met de veranderende smaak en levensstijl van de verzamelaars is ook het aanbod van de beurs steeds verder uitgebreid met specialisaties zoals bijvoorbeeld fotografie en design. Wie alleen met het allerbeste genoegen neemt, kan weer zijn hart ophalen van 14-23 maart in het MECC in Maastricht. 275 handelaren en galerieën tonen meer dan 30.000 objecten die tezamen de hoogtepunten van zo’n 7.000 jaar kunstgeschiedenis laten zien. The world’s leading fair for art, antiques and design is a constantly evolving showcase of the beautiful, the exclusive and the exceptional. Over the years the Fair has become much more international. Only a fifth of the exhibitors are Dutch, the rest come from nineteen other countries. Changes in the way people collect and new fields of interest, such as photography and design, have meant that the diversity at TEFAF has increased considerably. In 2000, around 160 art and antiques dealers showed at TEFAF. This year from 14 – 23 March, 275 dealers will be offering more than 30,000 objects covering some 7,000 years of art history. And the offers are not all that have diversified— the visitors have too.
