I
started selling Ultra Mobile as a store manager with another retailer in the beginning of 2014. Since then I’ve dreamed to have my own store, so my wife and I saved the money and today we have our wireless store along with a small restaurant—Jeannie Food. We are very grateful for the opportunities and success we’ve had, so we want to give back to the community. Every two weeks we go to the downtown Miami area and give free food to those in need. Also on May 19th 2018, in celebration of Haitian Flag Day, we will give away 30 healthy dinners to low-income Haitian families.
W
e have done events in the community like invite volleyball teams representing countries around Central and South America. We also sponsor local soccer teams within the community. We have also had indoor soccer teams come in for events for the community!
I
opened my business more than ten years ago with the objective to fulfill the needs of the Haitian community in the North Miami area. Many of them recently arrived from the island after the earthquake and they were looking for business providers who speak their native language, Creole. That’s why I also created a radio program that broadcasts 100% of the time in Creole; every day we provide the latest news from our motherland; we invite successful businessmen/women to talk about how to adapt to life in the US, & politicians and government employees discuss immigration status legalization. Every month we raffle off a trip to the island and during our national festivities, especially in Thanksgiving, we give away more than 40 turkeys as a way to spread holiday joy.
I
always loved volleyball! It is a great sport for promoting teamwork. Most importantly, it is a great time for the community to get together, celebrate our independence day and have lots of fun.

t weekly prayer at the mosque, I translate the prayer from Arabic to English and also help serve breakfast, breaking the fast, during Ramadan.

ather’s day is the second most popular day for call volume, second to mother’s day. This year, many Americans will be celebrating Father’s Day on Sunday, June 17. Though many countries and cultures celebrate fatherhood in some special way, no one does it exactly the same. Here are some fun facts about fathers around the world!
Unlike Americans, South Koreans are 4 times more likely to call Dad to wish him Happy Father’s Day than they are to call Mom.
Fathers in Finland on average spend more time with their school age children than mothers—an average of 8 more minutes a day!
France celebrates La Fête des Pères, the festival of fathers, on the third Sunday in June.
In Germany, many families celebrate their fathers by going on a hike followed by a picnic of Dad’s favorite foods.
In the Netherlands, fathers get a papadag, also known as one “daddy day” a week to spend with their children. In Thailand, Fathers are honored on December 5, the birthday of King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who ruled for over 50 years. Fathers and grandfathers are given Canna flowers in celebration.
Several European countries with a large Catholic population celebrate Father’s Day on March 19, the Saint’s Day of St. Joseph. In Mexico City, many young adults celebrate their fathers by running (or walking) a 21-kilometer race in Mexico City called the Carrera Dia Del Padre for a special bonding experience.
Some historians believe the celebration of Father’s Day is linked with the celebration of the summer solstice because pagans believed the sun was the father of the universe.
