PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

I am writing this letter as the weather in Rehoboth is starting to thaw after a bitter cold January. For those “snowbird” members who are enjoying Florida and elsewhere south, we know you haven’t missed this weather. Nevertheless, our freezing temperatures have certainly not slowed down all the work going on at the Club.

It is interesting to me that some of the busiest times for the Board and the Committees are during the winter months. This is especially true for the Finance Committee, who is putting in long hours with Management on a solid operating budget for the coming fiscal year 2026 which begins April 1st. You will be hearing more about our progress soon.

In other areas, the Clubhouse and Governance Committees have been working on addressing responsible and understandable rules for dress and appropriate behavior on the RBCC campus, as well as consequences when Club standards are not adhered to at the Club. The COI and Bylaws Ad Hoc Committee has spent the last two years working with legal advisors on a revision which will soon be presented to membership in Town Hall meetings prior to going to the membership for a vote. The Golf and new Ad Hoc Golf Refurbishment Committees are looking forward to an exciting season, along with identifying course requisites and wishes for the years ahead. The Strategic Planning Committee is analyzing necessary Capital projects, which will be funded through our new capital reserve account, in addition to assessing future capital improvement needs. And, of course, the Centennial Committee is in high gear planning many activities throughout the summer to celebrate our first 100 years, which will be highlighted at our August 2nd Club Gala. This is a small sample of what the Board and Committees have been tackling this winter and is by no means inclusive of all the Board of Governor’s and Talon Tribe’s diligent work.

Even with the Club being closed Mondays and Tuesdays this month, the Tribe has still scheduled many wonderful activities for February which I hope will get lots of participation. Pasta night (which we love!) has been changed to “Date Night” with Chef Carolyn’s culinary international talents showcasing a different country’s cuisine weekly. Being a chocoholic, I am very excited that on Saturday, February 8, ‘C’ has brought “chocolate sommelier” Estelle Tracy (37chocolates.com) to do a paired tasting of chocolates with Cosi’s wines from 5-7 PM. I hope you will join us! A wonderful Valentine’s Dinner evening on Friday, February 14 is planned, so please come to the Club with your sweetheart or bestie for a lovely evening. And, the 4th Annual Monticello Wine Dinner on February 22 is not to be missed, as it is an amazing evening of history and fine food that Thomas Jefferson would be proud of. Finally, for those who, like Barry and me, enjoy cooking and learning new and different cooking techniques, the end of the month will feature a baking class, so please sign up.

Sharon Covington Board President

In my profession as a psychotherapist, one of the things we learn early on in our training is to “trust your gut”; that is, pay attention to what is going on in your gut to get a sense of what is going on around you. This concept has often been very helpful to me in all aspects of my life. But, I think my favorite television coach, Ted Lasso, says it better:

In thinking about my message to you this month, I can’t help but connect February to the “heart” of our Club, especially in this 100th year -- what we are doing, how we are doing it, and why. In the last year and a half, I feel the Board and its Committees have really come together to work collaboratively with the Talon Tribe on several shared initiatives which will carry us through Vison 2030 and set a foundation for RBCC’s future. The support and collective talent of our growing membership in the work we are doing is instrumental for our future success, including cultivating leadership within our Club. And why? Because we all love RBCC, our extraordinarily beautiful location on the Bay, exceptional facilities and amenities, and (for me especially) the cherished relationships we make here.

“Just listen to your gut, and on the way down to your gut, check in with your heart. Between those two things, they’ll let you know what’s what.”

So, between my heart and my gut, I think that this helps summarize some of “what’s what” with happenings at RBCC. Along with substantial data (not just gut feelings), the Board and Talon Tribe work to continue the rich history and traditions of our Club and to establish a future of enjoyment, sustainability, and success. Wishing everyone a good February and looking forward to soon sharing time and friendship with you during our high season in an exciting Centennial year.

EMAIL SUBSCRIPTIONS

The easiest and quickest form of communication between Members and the Club is through email. While the Club has an outstanding email open rate of 75%, the membership and communications department would love to send more targeted emails to you regarding what you want to receive! In order to do so, the Club asks that you subscribe to the groups that interest you via the Club website. To do so follow these steps: Visit wwww.rehobothbeachcc.com and log in to your Member account. Under the Member Central tab visit “My Email Subscriptions.”

Indicate your email associated with your Club account, keep the email format at Rich Text/HTML and then select which groups you’d like to join. Click submit!

By doing these simple four steps the Club will be able to send you content that you are specifically looking for all while still receiving the Monday email, Eagle Tracks, Eagle Point or any pertinent communications.

GENERAL MANAGER’S MESSAGE

This year is no ordinary February because there are no ordinary months during a Centennial, and January was the first to prove that. We’ve had more Members than usual attending Club events, and the Centennial Wine and Culinary Journey Dinner was such a great icebreaker. It did seem that an icebreaker was what we needed for all the snow and ice on the golf course and in the parking lot, but the atmosphere in the dining rooms remained warm and cordial amongst Members. We will continue to host special events every month throughout the year and each will be an opportunity to step back into the centurylong history of the Club.

We’ll try to share some of the stories we’ve heard so far, and we’ll still look for more stories and ask everyone who has Club memorabilia to kindly contact us about it. The Culinary Team is excited to tempt you with a fine Chocolate Tasting event on February 8, the popular Valentine’s Day dinner and the fourth Monticello Wine Dinner to name just a few. The Golf Shop will also feature new merchandise with the Centennial logos, and we can’t wait to see it all displayed.

Be on the lookout for this year’s Member Handbook, all the Club communication on the ongoing initiatives and the opportunities to share your feedback with us. Although Coffee with C is taking a break until spring, please don’t hesitate to email us or contact us through the feedback form on the Club website or ForeTees app if you have any questions, suggestions, or concerns or even if you want to chat about your favorite Club.

Stay warm and keep the Centennial celebrations going.
