As we embark on our high season in this Centennial summer, I want to take a moment to reflect on the values, traditions, and enduring cultural legacy that make our Club truly extraordinary This year, the Board of Governors has been thoughtfully engaged in strengthening our vision and reaffirming the core principles that define Rehoboth Beach Country Club To that end, we have developed a membership reference book, The RBCC Rules of Civility, which will be released later this month.
The Board’s introductory letter that will accompany the booklet speaks to the timeless importance of civility, decorum, and the foundational legacy established by America’s Founders. I encourage each of you to review this document upon receipt, as it contains important information regarding the Rules for facility use and Dress Code, along with the new Code of Conduct for membership. These Rules are designed to safeguard the enjoyment of all Members and to preserve the unique character of the Club for generations to come
It is the responsibility of every Member to adhere to these standards and to ensure their guests do likewise. Just as importantly, we must guide the next generation instilling in our children an understanding of our values and a respect for our traditions, even when we are not physically present. Your commitment to these ideals ensures that the spirit of RBCC remains vibrant and strong
Tradition is more than ceremony; it is the transmission of values, beliefs, and shared experiences from one generation to the next It is woven into every corner of RBCC, from our small gatherings, events, and celebrations to the everyday moments of camaraderie. At the heart of our traditions lies a steadfast commitment to civility, collegiality, and respect values we expect from one another and seek in those who wish to join our community We treat our facilities as extensions of our homes and our fellow Members, along with the Talon Tribe staff, as extensions of our families What we all share members and staff alike is the right to be treated with respect and civility, in the same spirit with which we wish to be treated ourselves.
Sharon Covington Board President
To help preserve this spirit, the Board has entrusted the staff with serving as the first line of enforcement for the Club’s rules. This role is carried out with discretion and courtesy. If a staff member approaches you regarding non-compliance by yourself, a family member, or a guest, please regard their communication as a directive from the Board and respond with understanding and respect. Let it be clear: there will be no tolerance for any Member or guest verbally abusing staff in the course of their duties Together, we must uphold an environment where kindness and respect are non-negotiable.
As we look ahead to the coming year, I challenge each of you to find meaningful ways to embody our core values Invite a new Member to join you
for Trivia Night Extend a warm conversation to someone you don’t know in the Eagle’s Nest. And above all, express your gratitude and respect for the staff who work tirelessly to make RBCC the special place we all treasure Alongside our beautiful property overlooking the bay, our most precious Club asset is and always will be the Talon Tribe.
Small actions, rooted in kindness, speak louder than words They define who we are as a community. Let us continue to build a future grounded in generosity, excellence, and the deep pride of belonging to something truly timeless. I am confident that, together, we will not only honor the cherished traditions of RBCC, but also inspire a living legacy of civility, respect, and friendship one that will continue to enrich our community today and for generations to come
Dear Members,
The patios will also open this month, and we’re kicking things off in style tomorrow with a celebratory patio party come and “crack it open” with us! It’s the ideal way to reconnect with fellow Members and raise a glass to the season ahead.
Terri, Bill and their crew are back and so is the racquets program, with Members on the courts talking about Frances Tiafoe’s visit this summer- so exciting!!!
We’re eager to officially come out of the long winter and create new memories in 2025. This is shaping up to be a memorable season filled with tradition, progress, and shared moments.
Thank you for being part of the RBCC community we look forward to seeing you around the Club soon.
As the calendar turns to May, there’s an undeniable sense of excitement in the air and rightfully so. Just like the energy and pageantry of the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes, and Belmont Stakes, we’re off to the races here at the Club! It’s a full sprint into a centennial season brimming with activity, community, and enjoyment.
We are thrilled to welcome many of our valued seasonal Talon Tribe members back to the Club this month and join forces with the dedicated year-round staff. You’ll also notice some new faces joining the staff, each one eager to provide you with the exceptional service and hospitality you’ve come to expect
Mid-May marks the official opening of our pool, earlier and earlier each year, which debuts a refreshed new look of the deck along with an updated menu that we think you’ll love It’s the perfect setting for sunny days and family fun, and we can’t wait to see you there.
Pat and George are welcoming our new Merchandiser, Adriana, and on the golf course, you’ll see continued progress as we improve playability and aesthetics. Projects currently underway include the finishing of 15th hole, hole 17 tee box, replenishing sand in the bunkers, replacing tidal gates, and upgrading drainage infrastructure. We appreciate your patience as we work to elevate the course experience. This also includes a beautiful display of seasonal flowers around the property thanks to our new Horticulturist, Courtney We listened and delivered on that promise! The water and ice machine is back at the Golf Shop to help us in our efforts to eliminate singleuse plastic bottles around the campus, a commitment we intend to stay behind this year
"'Tis like the birthday of the world, When earth was born in bloom; The light is made of many dyes, The air is all perfume: There's crimson buds, and white and blue, The very rainbow showers Have turned to blossoms where they fell, And sown the earth with flowers."
- Thomas Hood
The Club will be sending the annual Family Registry update form this month. If you have any changes to your family make-up, such as bringing a child into the family or getting married, or have a different primary address please fill out the Family Registry Form. By filling out this form, you are acting as a steward to RBCC assuring your information on file is up to date and accurate. This will also ensure your dependents have no issues using the Club this season.
As we work through the decades in the Centennial Newsletter: Soaring Through the Decades, we are always looking for more content including stories, personal photos, memorabilia and more from over the years at RBCC. Please feel free to share your story with Membership and Communications Director, Bethany Ackerman at membership@rehobothbeachcc.com.
The Club’s 100th celebration is a moment to reflect, recognize, and renew. Beyond celebrating ourselves, it’s a chance to honor those who shape our journey—including the Talon Tribe who make every day special and the local charities and people that anchor the community.
That’s where the 1925 Eagle Foundation comes in. This charitable initiative gives back through financial aid to the Talon Tribe in tough times, educational scholarships for them and their families, grants to local charities, and beautifying the Club.
This is where you come in! Joining your gift with those of your fellow RBCC Members amplifies the impact you can have on the lives of others—plus, donations are tax-deductible.
I hope you’ll join us in championing the Talon Tribe by making your contribution. More information will be found on the postcard you should receive via mail and by visiting the website. Learn about our mission, our recognition levels, and the good we can do together.

Limoncello Spritz
Bright, bubbly, and refreshingly citrusy, our Limoncello Spritz is the perfect sip for spring. Made with zesty limoncello, crisp prosecco, and a splash of soda, this golden-hued cocktail is sunshine in a glass—light, vibrant, and delightfully effervescent
Te Mata Estate Sauvignon Blanc, Hawke's Bay, NZ $13/42
Clear, brilliant, and crystalline, Estate Sauvignon Blanc appears spun from bright golden light. Lime, passionfruit, guava, and honey-dew melon leap from the glass in this powerful statement of New Zealand’s famous sauvignon blanc expression. Beyond, the palate is rich, layered and juicy. A moreish acidity runs the length of this wine, all the way though to its mouth-watering finish.
Castello di Volpaia Chianti Classico, Tuscany, Italy $12/40
The Chianti Classico has a vivid ruby color and a strong nose of fresh red fruit with hints of cherry. This is a well-structured wine with a fruity finish.

The majority of us often get stuck between what they want to do and what they can reliably do. Pros build scores around their trusted shots, not their best swings. How to Apply It:
On the course, choose the shot shape and club you’re most confident you can execute— even if it’s not fancy.
If you hit a reliable fade, play for it. Don’t force a draw because you “should” or “saw it on TV.”
Build rounds around your stock shots — not your hero shots. The more you trust what you already do well, the more your confidence, consistency, and scores will improve.
This month’s featured merchandise includes our stunning marble and wood charcuterie boards! Each board is beautifully crafted and showcases both our primary and secondary logos woodburned into the surface—making it the perfect blend of elegance and club pride. As of the beginning of May and the warm weather, the golf course is playing really well, and the Golf Course Maintenance team is ready for aerification on May 6. We plan to aerate, dryject and topdess the greens – hopefully the weather stays dry! The soil temperatures are up so we expect them to heal pretty quick.
With the extra fill from the Hole 15 project, the Golf Course Maintenace team has completed adding an addition tee box to Hole 17. This will be sodded the first week in May.
The pipe work company, Trinity, was on site May 1 to get the preliminary work completed. The Club is on schedule to get this project completed over the next couple of months with Trinity working with the local business, Teal, to replace the gates.
Even with the weather delays, the Hole 15 project is coming along nicely. The work has slowed down a little as the course maintenance is nearly back to the regular schedule and must take priority to maintain conditions. This is due to the time lost to the rain earlier in the project timeline. The Golf Course Maintenance team has lined the bunkers and has the edging installed. The final grading is complete on most of the green complex and the drainage creek is sodded and complete. The “fairway” is at rough grade and just needs some fine tuning. The teeing area is roughed in, and they plan to install the rootzone once aeration is complete. The sod farm nursery is currently out of overseeded bermudagrass which is what they plan to use on the course so it can be cut over the winter. The Golf Course Maintenance team is waiting for the this to be available. The good news is that it will already be growing aggressively when it arrives so it will knit quickly. The bunker sand is onsite, and they plan to install the sod around the bunkers to prevent contamination of the liner. Then, they’ll add the sand and then sod the path out. Once the sod is available this project will be completed quickly. The completion is still on track for early June to open, but this will depend on when the sod is available.

It’s surprising to me how many people say, “I don’t squat.” But the truth is, you squat every single day. Sitting down, standing up, getting in your car, picking something off the floor. Yes, that’s a squat! Practicing and mastering squatting isn’t just about fitness, it’s about moving better in life. Here are some tips to help you improve your form!
Start with your feet shoulder-width apart, toes slightly turned out
Keep your chest lifted and core braced
Initiate by pushing your hips back as if you’re lowering into a chair, knees will start to bend right after
Knees track over (not past) your toes
Push through your heels and midfoot to stand back up
Key Tips:
Your weight should be in your heels and midfoot, not your toes! When your weight shifts forward, it puts unnecessary strain on your knees and throws off your balance. You should still be able to wiggle your toes in your squat.
