What a remarkable July we had at RBCC one that truly captured the spirit of the Centennial summer!
We kicked things off with a literal bang on the Fourth of July, as more than 1,550 Members and guests gathered for a spectacular cookout, games, dancing and fireworks that left everyone raving. The Tiafoe events, brilliantly organized by Terri and the Racquets Committee, were both enlightening and a lot of fun Our annual Member-Guest Golf Tournament and C’s always elegant White Dinner both loved traditions were sold-out success once again
Throughout the month, the energy across the Club was electric. The pool was bustling, our summer camps full of happy children, golf and racquets activities thrived, and dining experiences were delicious and memorable
And now, all energy and attention has turned to the Centennial Gala this Saturday, August 2 a once-in-a-century celebration not to be missed! If you haven’t signed up yet, there still is some space and I urge you to do so
Looking ahead, we will hold our Annual Meeting on Saturday, August 30 at 10 am It will be an opportunity to reflect on the accomplishments and challenges over the past year, hear from the Board and Management, and discuss the Club’s current and future direction. We’ll, also, present details about our golf course needs and long-term planning essential conversations for ensuring RBCC’s continued excellence
Most importantly, this month we are asking Stockholder Members to vote in favor and approve the amended and restated Certificate of Incorporation (COI). These changes are necessary to: ensure compliance with Delaware and Federal laws;
protect our 501(c)7 non-profit status; and
reflect a best practice approach in modern Club governance
It is critical for Members to understand that there are no changes to existing Stockholder rights in the proposed COI However, we must receive over 50% of Stockholders voting and approving the COI to pass Not voting or abstaining will count as a vote against the changes, so your participation is absolutely essential.
Now on a personal note: This is my last letter to you as RBCC’s President with my term concluding following the Annual Meeting. While I will continue to serve on the Board in my elected position for next two years, this moment marks the end of a deeply meaningful chapter for me
In my professional work, I’ve learned that gratitude is not only good for our health and wellbeing it deepens our appreciation for what matters most and strengthens the bonds we share I feel that gratitude profoundly now.
These past two years have taken me on a journey at times a trail ride through uncharted terrain and, occasionally, a bucking bronco I simply tried to hold on
Sharon Covington Board President
to! But through it all, I was never alone. I felt immense support and assistance from the Board; from C, Spaska, the Management team, and our incredible Talon Tribe; from so many Members who offered encouragement; and most of all, from my husband, Barry, whose steadfastness and unwavering support has meant the world to me
To all of you, thank you truly I am eternally appreciative and grateful to all of your kindness along the way.
In closing, I leave you with a final bit of Ted Lasso wisdom that has stayed with me:
“I think things come into your life to get from one place to a better one.”
While I had no plans, wishes, or intentions of becoming a Country Club President at this point in my life, it has been a true honor and privilege to serve you and RBCC. And I hope, in some small way, that I have helped move us to an even better place
With deepest gratitude,
Schneiderman, and brought to life by Spaska and our amazing Talon Tribe. Every detail has been lovingly planned to surprise, delight, and celebrate the century-long journey that brought us to this moment.
We’re also exploring a festive “Bring Your Own Magnum” holiday gathering later this year—so start dusting off those cellar treasures and stay tuned for more details!
AUGUST AT THE CLUB: A CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION IN FULL SWING
Welcome to the hot month of August a time when the summer sun is at its peak and our beloved Club shines just as brightly. This August is especially meaningful as it marks the heart of our Centennial Summer, a celebration of 100 years of community, tradition, and unforgettable moments at the beach.
The season reaches its pinnacle with the Centennial Gala on August 2, a once-in-a-lifetime event that pays tribute to our rich history and the generations of Members who have made this Club a second home. This extraordinary evening is the result of months of dedication by the Centennial Committee, led with incredible passion by Karen
But the celebration doesn’t stop there. August is packed with the best our Club has to offer from kids’ camps to Club Championships and tournaments, this is the time to create the memories that will define the Summer of 2025. Whether you’re on the courts, the course, in the pool or simply soaking in the view, there’s a place for everyone in the ongoing story of our Club.
A special highlight this month is the Farm Table Dinner on August 22, a lottery event that continues our tradition of extraordinary culinary experiences. Following the success of the White Dinner, we’re thrilled to introduce a new event that we hope becomes a cherished tradition: The Judgment of RBCCinspired by the famed 1976 “Judgment of Paris,” this event will feature a blind tasting of Old World vs. New World wines, paired with an imaginative fusion menu by Chef Carolyn. Think elegance, flavor, and plenty of lively debate over your favorite glass! (date TBD)
Inside the Clubhouse, you’ll notice some changes: the 1925 Lounge has been refreshed with new artwork replacing the mirrors, and a stunning Anne Packard collection now graces our walls, celebrating the natural beauty of our coastal haven.
On the governance front, August is also a time of important planning, including preparations for the Annual Meeting, Board elections, a COI vote, and the opening of committee applications for the upcoming year of service. It’s a meaningful way to contribute to the future of the Club we all cherish.
Please note that Coffee with “C” will be held on August 9, rescheduled due to the Gala on the 2nd. I look forward to seeing you there to hear your thoughts and share more Club updates
Lastly, for those interested in a deeper dive into our Club’s remarkable story, don’t miss the article featured in The GAP's Summer magazine, available now at gapgolf org
August is more than just the hottest month it’s a month that glows with legacy, laughter, and the joy of belonging Thank you for being part of this extraordinary chapter. Let’s keep the celebration going.
Warmly,
Your Talon Tribe
C's Poem of the Month
"The brilliant poppy flaunts her head Amidst the ripening grain, And adds her voice to sell the song That August's here again."
- Helen Winslow
On July 23 you received important information concerning the COI update. We need to pass this important initiative by an absolute majority of 50.1% of all Stockholders in favor at the Annual Membership Meeting. It is imperative that you vote either online or in person so that we can amend and restate RBCC’s COI to best ensure compliance with both Delaware Corporate law and the Federal law requirements of Section 501(c)(7) of the Internal Revenue Code to continue to qualify as a tax-exempt nonprofit organization. The voting for this will open online on August 4

Once the Club Championships are out of the way, we plan to close 19 for a week to aerate the bermudagrass but also replace the rough around the green with fairway height bermudagrass (to match 15) and replace the sand in the bunkers to match the sand on the course, so the hole will play much more consistently with the rest of the property.
The dog days of summer are well underway at the time of writing and thankfully we’re on the final third of the superintendents 100 days of hell. Overall, it has been a great summer, with the course holding up well to the heat and 15 opening to rave reviews! We aerated the Bermudagrass on 15 and lowered the height to get it to fairway height, which scalped it, but since it is in its prime growing weather, it is starting to green back up nicely and should look and play great soon. We have added sand to all the bunkers, so they all look similar and at least play somewhat the same. Now that they are topped up, we will continue to top-dress the lighter sand into them to make sure they continue to look good. When we add the new sand, we try to firm them up as much as possible, but they can still be a little soft from time, which can leave footprints as the team rakes them. It still happens here and there but we are working to ensure that the team watches for it and makes sure that they are raked properly.
Alan FitzGerald gives wrote a message to the membership regarding the golf course greens, their aesthetic, and their playability.

Congrats to those who played in the 2025 Rehoboth Cup and brought home a WIN!
Through the weather delays and rain, RBCC was able to officially secure the 18 points, finishing with a total of 60 points and winning for the 3rd consecutive year. We appreciate everyone playing and supporting the event. Each Member of the team received bragging rights for the year. As Captain George said, "they will be out for us next year!!!"
Thank you to all the sponsors, volunteers, participants and spectators for making the Tiafoe Event such a huge success!
