Fireplaces
If your vacation home has a gas fireplace, please DO NOT put anything inside the fireplace or you will be charged for the damage. If your vacation home has a wood-burning fireplace, PLEASE REMEMBER TO OPEN THE DAMPER. A supply of firewood may be found on the balcony or deck. “Firestarter” is located on the hearth for your convenience. Please call 970-949-5071 at least 48 hours in advance for delivery of firewood or bundles may be purchased at the City Market, if needed. Please do not take firewood from other balconies and always leave glass doors open. Closing doors may result in the glass doors breaking.

Please note there is no housekeeping included in your rate. Housekeeping services may be scheduled based on availability. Please contact the Front Desk with at least 48 hours’ notice to check availability and cost.
Unless otherwise scheduled, guest of owners will receive a Check Out Clean upon their departure which will be automatically billed to the owner’s account unless payment is provided to the Front Desk. Additional housekeeping may be arranged for a fee with at least 48-hour notice.

All rental homes have high-speed Internet access, refer to your in home directory or check-in sheet for the credentials. There are two complimentary computers with high-speed Internet access each with a printer in the Highlands Lodge lobby.
Locker Facilities
Men’s and women’s lockers are located on the lobby level of the Highlands Lodge within walking distance of the pool and hot tubs.

Parking
One (1) parking space is provided per condominium. Display parking pass in windshield. Overflow parking is accommodated in the Elk lot at the intersection of Highway 6 and Village Road (across from the main security gate). Failure to comply may result in vehicle towing at the owner or guest’s expense.
Pets
Only Beaver Creek homeowners are allowed to have pets. A daily fine of $500 will be charged if there is evidence of a pet upon departure.

Pool, Hot Tubs and Children’s Pool
The pools and hot tubs are located off The Highlands Lodge lobby. Towels are available in the locker rooms located in the lobby. Pool hours are 8:00 A.M. to 10:00 P.M. There is no lifeguard on duty. Please observe all posted rules and DO NOT BRING GLASS to the pool area.
Recycling
We are proud to offer Single Stream Recycling in all our managed properties. Please refer to our EcoCare Program section to see what may and may not be recycled. There are blue bins for recycling in the home, and additional recycling containers are located on each floor if your building has a Trash Chute, in the garage, or in or near each Trash Building or Trash Room.

FIRE SAFETY MESSAGE
Any home or condo can have a fire. Plan what to do when you check in because you won’t have time to plan during a fire.
If you burn food when cooking, do NOT open the door into an interior hallway. Turn on the microwave fan, open windows, and balcony doors to the outdoors. Await further instructions from the front desk, but do not disassemble the smoke detector.
First, find two exits nearest your room. Be sure they are unlocked and unblocked.
Then, count doors between your room and exits so you’ll have a reference point if it’s smoky.
When you hear an alarm: ACT, don’t investigate.
If fire is in your room, get out and close the door. Once out, report the fire.
If fire is not in your room, leave if you can. First, feel your door. If it’s cool, open it slowly and go to the nearest exit. Crawl in smoke. Fresh air will be at the floor. Take your key so you can go back if you can’t use your exits.
Never use elevators during a fire. They could stop at the fire floor.
If your room door is hot, don’t open it. Your room may be the safest place to be. Seal all cracks with wet towels. Shut off fans and air conditioners. Signal at your window. Call the Fire Department and wait to be rescued.

We’re glad you’re here and hope you enjoy every moment of your stay. The mountain environment is breathtakingly beautiful — but it can also take a little adjustment, especially if you’ve come from lower elevations. Follow these tips to stay comfortable and make the most of your visit.
Adjusting to Altitude
At elevations around 7,000–10,000 feet, the air is thinner and contains less oxygen. You may notice mild shortness of breath, a light headache, or fatigue during your first day or two. These are normal signs that your body is adjusting.
To help your body acclimate:
• Drink plenty of water — more than you think you need.
• Take it easy the first day and avoid overexertion.
• Go light on alcohol and caffeine, which can worsen dehydration.
• Eat well, focusing on healthy carbohydrates for energy. If symptoms worsen or you feel dizzy, nauseated, or very short of breath, contact a local medical provider. Doctors in mountain towns are familiar with altitude illness and can help you recover quickly.
Sun & Weather
The mountain sun is powerful — even on cloudy days!
• Apply sunscreen and SPF lip balm frequently.
• Wear UV-protective sunglasses to prevent eye strain or snow glare.
• Dress in layers; afternoons can be warm, while evenings turn cool fast.
• Be alert for hypothermia (shivering, confusion, exhaustion). If it happens, get warm, eat, and rest immediately.

Stay Hydrated
Colorado’s crisp, dry air means your body loses moisture faster through breathing — often without realizing it. At higher elevations, about 20–25% of your fluid loss comes from increased breathing alone, as the thinner air makes you breathe more often.
Keep a water bottle with you and sip throughout the day to stay ahead of dehydration.
If you wear contact lenses, use lubricating drops as needed for comfort.

• Carry water, snacks, and extra layers — even on short outings.

Vail: Children have their own special mountain areas such as Coyote Crossing at Lionshead, and Animal Kingdom at Golden Peak in Vail. Three to six-year-olds can join the Mogul Mice beginner’s class or the Super Stars class for those who are more advanced. Six to 13-year-olds can join an all-day class including lunch. Non-skiing children from two months to six years can spend the day at the Small World Day Care at Golden Peak (970-754-3200 x 1).
Beaver Creek: Beaver Creek offers lessons with grouping by age and ability so everyone has a great time (970-754-5462). There are specially designed areas for children only with magical mountain adventures featuring fun ski-through attractions and NASTAR races.
