Guest Services
HVAC
As with any HVAC unit, these systems sometimes produce normal fan noise and noise associated with airflow. Any unusual or excessive noises should be reported to the Front Office as soon as possible, as well as any icing or water on the floor under or near the unit. Please note: never place your luggage or valuables in the A/C closet under the unit. Your thermostat should have the fan set in the “auto” position. Be sure to close all the doors and windows when operating the unit in air conditioning or heat. Failure to do so often causes the unit to freeze up and it will not operate properly.
Ice
Ice is available and sold by the Recreation Department at the Clubhouse.
Internet
We are pleased to offer free internet to our owners and guests vacationing with us. If you have connection problems, please contact the office: 252-441-6321 Ext. 0. After hours: 252-216-8834
1. Locate the Guest Services Directory (Blue) binder in your unit.

Jacuzzi
(Two- and three-bedroom units) Fill the tub to about two inches below the overflow. Please don’t turn the unit on until water is well over the jets, and please do not sit against or block the jets. Doing so often results in flooding the unit below you and a knock on your door. We also recommend that you do not use bubble bath, shampoo, or baby oil in the Jacuzzi.
Laundry Facilities
There are several coin-operated washers and dryers conveniently located in small laundry rooms under the buildings throughout the property. If you need assistance to locate these laundry rooms, please contact the office. Refrigerators
For your convenience, the refrigerator temperature controls are preset to achieve maximum cooling as quickly as possible. Large quantities of food and drink require extra time to cool down. Warning! Do not attempt to adjust the temperature controls to “max”. Doing so will cause unit to reset itself and often takes up to 48 hours to cool down. This will cause an unnecessary service call to repair, and please note: the OBBC will not be responsible for food lost due to adjusting the refrigerator controls.
Reporting Damage
Please report any damage immediately upon check-in. If you have problems resulting in damage to the unit, please call the Front Office at 252-441-6321 ext. 0, or after hours, notify Security at the Front Office by dialing 252-216-8834. Hurricane Procedures
Unfortunately, June through November is the hurricane season. Listed below are procedures you will need to follow to assure your safety in the event of an evacuation notice:
1. PLEASE take all valuables with you. The Resort or Property Management Company is not responsible for personal items lost or damaged.
2. Clean out your refrigerator and remove all perishable items, as the electricity will be turned off during an evacuation and all food items will spoil. Please take your food items with you or dispose of them properly. The Resort or Property Management Company is not responsible for food items.
3. Please bring your unit keys to the office.
4. Please evacuate AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! This allows our employees ample time to secure the Resort. Our employees CANNOT leave until YOU leave. Please be considerate of this.
5. Before a hurricane arrives, there are usually gusts of high winds; the Resort or Property Management Company is not responsible for damage to personal property caused by flying debris.
6. Units directly facing the ocean will be boarded up. PLEASE understand that this is a time-consuming project and will take several hours to complete. If you return, please remember to have patience with the Resort, as it will take several hours to remove the boards. DO NOT attempt to remove the boards covering your unit windows yourself; the Maintenance Staff will take care of this.
Dare County has two Evacuation Routes:
US Hwy. 64/264 West and US Hwy. 158 North.
Don’t wait to evacuate.
Routes become congested as the storm approaches our area.
There are no American Red Cross approved shelters in Dare County (pre-storm). Inland shelter locations will be broadcast on local radio stations.
Bridges close and ferry services cease with the onset of 40 mph winds.
In the event you are allowed to return to the Resort, you must report to the Front Office. Each unit must be inspected for damage before guests are allowed to re-enter. Please do not drive through the parking lots because we may not have had time to clear debris or nails from the pavement steps or walkways. Use extreme caution.

Safety & Security
Safety Information
What if I get hurt?
We hope you won’t need any first aid while visiting. If you do have any of the following problems, these hints may help ease the pain. In case of an emergency, dial 911.
Bee Stings
Apply a baking soda paste and ice. Benadryl ointments can help stop the itch.
Jellyfish Stings
Apply vinegar, sugar, salt, and dry sand. Lifeguards keep a bottle of vinegar solution to spray on stings. Meat tenderizer works well, too. After 20 minutes, rinse with salt water.
Oyster Shells, Barnacles
Oyster shells and barnacles are often attached to dock pilings. Cuts and abrasions can result in serious infections. Clean the wound with peroxide. Medical treatment is advised.
Stingray
Rinse with water and apply heat. Apply pressure to wound with finger to stop bleeding. Seek medical attention. It is possible that the barb can break off in the flesh and cause infection.
Sunburn
Soak in cool water unless skin is broken or blistered. Aloe gels and spray are available in pharmacies. Ibuprofen may help.
Surf Rules
• Look for warning signs of red flags before entering the surf.
• Discuss surf conditions with beach attendants or check on advisories from the National Weather Service available at www.nws.noaa.gov.
• Do not swim alone, and avoid swimming too far from shore.
• Do not dive into the ocean unless you know the water depth.
• Be especially cautious when surf is high.
Rip Currents
Often mistakenly called undertows, powerful rip currents can pull even the most experienced swimmers away from the shore. Rip currents are formed when water rushes out to sea in a narrow path. Some of the telltale signs of rip currents are a difference in water color (either murky or dark) or larger, choppier waves in the rip current with smaller, calmer waves in front of a sandbar or to its sides. In a rip current, foam or objects, such as a float, move steadily out to sea.
If you are caught in a rip current, don’t panic or try to swim against the current. Swim parallel to the shore until you are out of the current. Rip currents are rarely more than 30-feet wide. If you can’t break out of the rip current, float calmly until it dissipates, usually just beyond the breaking waves. Then swim diagonally to the shore. If you don’t swim well, stay in the wading depths near the shore and watch for sudden drop-offs.
