2025 Redding Rancheria’s 6th

Annual Big Time

On June 27th, 28th, and 29th

the Tribe held it 6th Annual Big Time. In the olden days, when we Native Americans had an abundance of something, we shared it. When there was more than enough, we gave to others and shared our space and time. This tradition continues with the Redding Rancheria Big Time!

We spent these three days dancing, drumming, singing, and sharing. Over 8 different tribes and dance groups came to share their culture and heritage. Many skilled artisans offered their crafts for sale, and there were numerous delicious food vendors. From Indian tacos and fry bread to freshly squeezed lemonade and fruit cups, there was something for everyone.

We are thankful to each person and group that joined us at our Big Time. Sharing time together is what makes life sweeter.

Celebrating the Bright Future of Redding Rancheria:

A Night of Talent and

Tonight was a truly special evening as our community gathered in the park to witness the incredible talents of our younger generation. In partnership with the California Dance Company, the night came alive with movement, music, and the vibrant spirit of our youth.

Pride

Our girls took the stage with grace, confidence, and passion—performing beautifully in front of a crowd filled with proud families, friends, and community members. Every step, every smile, and every moment reflected not only their dedication and talent, but also the deep cultural pride and strong values that guide them.

We are immensely proud of these young women— not just for the performance they delivered tonight, but for the way they continue to pursue their dreams with creativity and courage. Their hard work and heart remind us that the future of the Redding Rancheria is bright and full of promise.

To our young performers: thank you for inspiring us. We see in you the future leaders, artists, and visionaries of our people. Keep dancing, keep dreaming, and know that your community is cheering you on every step of the way.

Inspiring the Next Generation: Bring Your Child to Work Day

The 2025 Bring Your Child to Work Day was nothing short of unforgettable—a day packed with fun, learning, and inspiration for the children of our dedicated Redding Rancheria team members. It wasn’t just a day off from school—it was a powerful introduction to the working world and a chance for our youth to dream big and think boldly about their future.

Our epic day kicked off with a warm breakfast and an icebreaker that sparked confidence: each child proudly stood before the group to introduce themselves. With courage and enthusiasm, they shared who their parent is, what their parent does, and what they hope to become when they grow up. Their dreams ranged from future doctors and artists to engineers and LEADERS—proof that ambition starts young!

Next, our young guests took the stage with two of our incredible leaders: Tracy Edwards, CEO, and Stacey Carman, COO of Redding Rancheria. The kids came prepared, asking everything from funny to thought-provoking questions, showing just how curious and clever the next generation truly is.

Following a quick snack, we set off on an exciting property-wide tour that gave a sneak peek into our high-energy scavenger hunt. From Head Start to the Lower Lot and the Arbor, children and parents worked together, solving clues and racing through the campus. The hunt was not just fun—it was a creative way to explore, engage, and learn.

After a delicious lunch, the real magic happened: kids got to shadow their parents and see what it takes to be part of the Redding Rancheria team. Whether watching medical professionals, administrative experts, or cultural leaders in action, they saw firsthand the dedication and pride that goes into every job.

Why do we do this? Because we believe in planting seeds of curiosity, ambition, and hard work early. When children are exposed to positive role models and the power of education and effort, they’re more likely to chase their dreams with determination. Today’s experience may spark tomorrow’s success story.

We’re beyond grateful to share this meaningful day with our employees and their incredible children. We’re already counting down to next year—because the future is bright, and it starts with moments like these.

We are delighted to share the wonderful memories from our recent Family Fit Event held at Nor-Cal Gymnastics on June 7. Thank you to everyone who joined us for our recent Family Fit event—it was a fantastic day full of energy, laughter, and fun! The kids were thrilled by the live reptile show, got creative with their favorite face painter, Squishy Doodle, and had a blast tackling the obstacle course and soaring down the zip line at NorCal Elite Gymnastics. It was wonderful to see families connecting, playing, and making memories together. We cannot wait to do it again!

We would like to congratulate all our Graduates on their achievements.

Redding Rancheria’s Kids Camp

Community Health’s annual Kids Camp is a vibrant and educational program dedicated to fostering healthy habits in young participants. The camp hosts 30 kids each week for 2 weeks, providing them with an immersive experience centered around crucial aspects of well-being. The program features an array of fun, engaging, and interactive activities focused on nutrition, exercise, mental wellness, and hygiene. Additionally, the camp includes Native American cultural classes, offering children a rich and diverse perspective on health and lifestyle practices. Through dynamic lessons and hands-on activities, children learn the importance of balanced diets, the benefits of regular physical activity, strategies for maintaining mental health, and the fundamentals of personal hygiene.

Celebrating PRIDE Month in Style

June is Pride Month, and Redding Rancheria invites all staff to wear Pride shirts as a celebration of love, identity, and the freedom to live authentically. Pride is a time to honor the diversity within our communities and to stand in solidarity with those who have fought—and continue to fight—for equal rights and recognition.

As we celebrate, we also uplift and recognize the important role of Two-Spirit people within Indigenous cultures. Historically, many Native communities held deep respect for individuals who embodied both masculine and feminine spirits, often viewing them as healers, visionaries, and caretakers of sacred traditions. The term “Two-Spirit” is used today by Indigenous people who identify with both their cultural traditions and the broader LGBTQ+ community. It represents a reclaiming of identities and roles that were disrupted by colonization but are deeply rooted in Native worldviews.

By embracing and supporting our Two-Spirit and LGBTQ+ relatives, we affirm our shared values of inclusion, respect, and cultural pride.

Redding Rancheria Presents $100,000 Donation to Tiger Field

Redding Rancheria proudly demonstrated its ongoing commitment to community development and local partnerships by presenting a $100,000 donation to Tiger Field during Redding Rancheria Night for the Colt 45’s on Wednesday, June 25, 2025. The contribution will help fund a new scoreboard at the historic ballpark, enhancing the experience for athletes and fans alike.

The evening began with a ceremonial first pitch thrown by CEO, Tracy Edwards, as Tribal leaders and community members gathered in Colt 45s colors to celebrate the occasion. The donation was presented on the field by the Redding Rancheria Tribal Council during a special recognition ceremony.

“Redding Rancheria is proud to invest in projects that strengthen our local community and provide positive spaces for families and youth,” said Edwards, “Tiger Field is a treasured part of Redding’s history, and we’re honored to support its continued growth.”

This generous donation reflects Redding Rancheria’s longstanding dedication to creating meaningful partnerships and improving the quality of life for all who call the Redding area home.

Honoring the Importance of Male Role Models

Father’s Day often falls during summer break, but here at Head Start, we never miss an opportunity to celebrate the special bond between our students and the men who help shape their lives.

To honor the fathers, grandfathers, uncles, brothers, and all the incredible male role models, we hosted a “S’More Break” celebration filled with sweet treats, smiles, and playtime. Each student was invited to bring a special man in their life to school, and the joy was contagious!

These moments are more than just fun—they are meaningful. The love, support, and kindness these role models provide leaves a lasting impact on our children’s lives. Watching the connections, laughter, and pride shared during this event was truly a highlight as we wrapped up the school year.

Thank you to every dad, grandpa, uncle, brother, and friend who joined us. You are seen, appreciated, and celebrated. Until next year!

Tribal Youth Leadership Kickoff

In the last week of June, the Education Department hosted their 2025 Tribal Youth Leadership Kickoff. This program is designed to strengthen connections amongst young Tribal Members while fostering life skills and cultural knowledge. Day 1 began with an interactive Tribal Council lesson facilitated by our very own Executive Team! Following this introduction to Tribal Government was a drum-making activity led by renowned Yurok Drum Practitioner, Peter Gensaw, who taught us that the drumbeat mimics the heartbeat. Youth were able to create their own handheld drums, and then spend the afternoon learning plant care with Soil in the Sink.

Day 2 was full of creativity and movement! Tribal Youth were able to paint their drums, craft dreamcatchers, and cook their own mini pizzas. After a full day of messy fun, we wrapped things up with a water slide bounce house and a playful spearfishing challenge at the creek (with watermelons as the target). Thank you to everyone who helped make Kickoff a success! Our team is excited to continue supporting our younger generations as they grow into confident, capable leaders of the future.
