Dreams Rose Rock Ranch of

Sitting atop the hill in their Kubota RTV1140 while

overlooking their beautiful 10-acre ranch, I couldn’t help but notice the excitement in Matt and Leisha Gibson’s voices as they described their dream home. The home that is to be built in the exact spot where we were sitting. Under the shade of one of the trees lays an inscribed rock with the words, “Rose Rock Ranch, est. 2020." It was under this tree that the Gibson’s would sit and imagine all the possibilities of their new property. Matt and Leisha’s dream to own a ranch came true in March 2020 when they broke ground on what is

now known as Rose Rock Ranch. A year prior, the Gibsons knew they wanted a home on their bare 10-acres, but they also saw the potential to start a business on the property. Rose Rock Ranch will soon be the home to 10 to 14 miniature red and black Herefords, with the goal to have some of them as show cattle for future grandkids and nieces. With the size of their property, raising miniature Herefords is the perfect business for the Gibson’s. Staying conscious of the land with the idea to regrow the soil, they also plan to use rotational grazing for their cattle. With this technique, the cattle will graze on quarter sections at a time, allowing the other sections to rest with the plan of throwing down winter grass for the colder months Continued on pg12
