SUICIDE PREVENTION DAY IS CELEBRATED IN SEPTEMBER… The Puerto Rico Police Community Relations Bureau, invited the Ramey Job Corps center to be part of this community service activity in Aguadilla. Thank you staff and students for your participation. Say YES to life!

AUTOMOTIVE WORKSHOP COMMUNITY SERVICE The students of the Auto Mechanic workshop provided services to the Puerto Rico Police vehicle. Thanks to their instructor, Jose Suarez for the initiative.

NEW SIGN IN This month we welcomed new participants who said “yes” to Job Corps and signed in their commitment. Upon arrival, they were orientated to on life in the center and enjoyed a delicious breakfast prepared by the Advanced Culinary Arts Workshop students.

Welcome to Ramey Job Corps!

IN THE SPOTLIGHT… This month we highlight the visit of the Job Corps Regional Director of Operations, Mrs. Brenda Jenifer who visited the Resident Commissioner Office, Jennifer Gonzalez. In her visit she was accompanied by Mr. Osvalso Ubiñas, Ramey Center Director, Mrs. Miguelina Torres, Arecibo Job Corps Center Director and Mrs. Elba Yanira Jimenez, Business and Community Liaison. In addition, they also visited Mayors, Representatives, Senators and Agency Directors to establish alliances.

New Alliances

Mr. Luis Acevedo, CEO of MELPRO GROUP, a company dedicated to the sale and installation of renewable energy, visited Ramey JCC since he’s interested in establishing alliances with Job Corps to offer internships for our students, employment to graduates and will be donating solar equipment for training to work with the market demand.

Hurican Fiona

Hurricane Fiona was a powerful and long-lived tropical cyclone which caused widespread damage over portions of the Caribbean.

On september 18, 2022 Fiona made landfall along the southwestern coast of Puerto Rico, between the municipalities of Lajas and Cabo Rojo, causing major flood damage to the island due to the massive rain.

Ramey had over 130 residential students stay on center where they felt safe. The Center emergency plan was activated. Fifteen staff members worked around the clock for student wellbeing. We also began a donation drive of; clothing, food and first aid necesities for students and staff affected by the impact of Fiona. We Salute you all!!

Due to the Hurricane, the island of Puerto Rico has had no Power nor water.

The Ramey center continued operating with generator power, On September 25 due to the shortage of diesel on the island, six students were sent to our sister center at Arecibo for their safety and well-being.
