RAMEY JOB CORPS
Toyota continues its commitment to Job Corps students. Through the Technician Education Training College Support (TECS), they made a donation for the Automotive and Machine Repair workshop of Ramey Job Corps Center Valued of the donation is at more than eighty thousand dollars ($80,00.00). With this donation, automotive mechanic students will have the opportunity to practice with equipment from the prestigious brand, leaders in car sales in Puerto Rico.
RJC AND MELPRO GROUP
YANIRA JIMENEZ, BUSINESS COMMUNITY LIASON (BCL)Ramey Job Corps and MELPRO Group have entered into an alliance to provide high- tech education in renewable energy and roof retrofitting for students enrolled in Aguadilla and Arecibo campuses.

MELPRO Group is a Puerto Rican company dedicated to the sale, installation and maintenance of renewable energy equipment. With more than twenty years of experience, the company has positioned as a leader in the industry and among its partners are prestigious brands such as TESLA, SUNNOVA and Mitsubishi Electric.
MELPRO and its technology partners provide technical advice for the continuous review and updating of the courses offered according to the needs of the industry.

The alliance will provide supervised practice in the field for students who are candidates for graduation.
MELPRO donate over $55,000.00 renewable energy modern equipment to renovate Ramey Job Corps on site training areas

At the official ceremony to announce this agreement and deliver the equipment, Mrs. Karen Laracuente, VP of the company, and Mr. Derlin Muñoz, Marketing Manager, expressed that they were very enthusiastic about contributing to the professional development of Puerto Rican students so that they are integrated into the labor force of the island

LABORAL WORKSHOPS
The Human Resources Department, managed by Yesenia Natal, has conducted seminars for the benefit of Ramey Job Corps Management Staff. The training and motivation of our leaders is very important to achieve success in the organization.

The first of these workshops was about “Professional, Personal and Collective Motivation” This was offered by a renowned professor who is an expert in personnel management.
Another workshop was focused on “Labor Laws”. This workshop, led by expert lawyers in the labor field, was focused on how to maintain a “safe work environment” and away from behaviors that could represent violations of the law.


Our Managers/Supervisors have gained valuable tools and skills that will help them continue the excellent work they do.

Hispanic Heritage Month

During the Hispanic Heritage Month celebration our teachers and students were honoring Hispanic culture and delighted us with various rhythm and flavor shows. Educating about traditions is part of Ramey Job Corps mission

Student participation in community activities is very important for Job Corps. Through these activities social responsibility skills are developed and awareness is created about environmental protection, civility and commitment for the benefit of society. Through this year 2022, our students have carried out more than ten community activities where they have donated hundreds of hours of volunteer work. The most recent was in the Municipality of Isabela, PR. Fifteen students donated more than one hundred hours of work by painting the Municipal Cemetery We thank the municipal administration, Mayor Miguel “Ricky” Mendez, for the opportunity and especially to our students who worked hard and once again represented Ramey Job Corps program (see picture below)

ASVAB

As part of the services we offer, selected students were able to take the ASVAB exam This test determines eligibility to be able to enter the ARMY once they complete their technical career in Job Corps. The test was recently offered to more than 40 youth. We Congratulate; Jose Govea, Gabriel Perez, Alexander Delgado and Destiny C Rivera who obtained the required score to pass.

Welcomes New Enrollees
The Advanced Culinary Arts workshop is giving a lot to talk. Thanks to our excellent instructors Stephanie Reitor and Jose Martinez. Students are acquiring skills that will make them stand out in the culinary field. The students have distinguished by preparing meals for important events in the center, including the visit of the DeputySecretaryof Labor,JulieSu, andrecentlythevisit of the Secretary of Labor of PR, Gabriel Maldonado. In addition, they receive new students every week and prepare a special breakfast meal during their welcome orientation.
Breast Cancer Awareness Month
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual campaign to raise awareness about the impact of breast cancer. At Ramey Job Corps we support the fight against cancer and raise awareness about the importance of prevention.

In honor of all those who fight day to day with the disease and all the survivors, our students and staff wore pink and celebrated life
International Day of People with Functional Diversity

We celebrate and join the Puerto Rico Police in their walk to support people with dysfunctional diversity. The walk counted with the participation of organizations, companies and volunteers from the community.

SUCCESS STORY: KEVIN RAMOS
ADVANCED SOLAR PV

Kevin entered Job Corps at the age of 21 where he attended the Advanced Solar Panel Workshop. He learned about the program through his friends. In just one year he finished his workshop and thanks to the Ramey Job Corps diploma, today he works as a Supervisor for Power Solar, a company that specializes in the sale and installation of solar panels. Kevin is an example of discipline since in just two years he had excelled at his job and today he is the leader of a group of workers.

Homeland Security Workshop
Students of the security workshop receive conferences from different agencies and organizations, such as the specialized units of the Puerto Rico Police Department. The most recent one was on the "Sexual Offenses Law". A comprehensive and very interesting training. We thank Professor Wilfredo Velez for the coordination.

Job Corps 2.0 Leadership Conference Students Today. Leaders Tomorrow
The National Office held the Job Corps 2.0 Leadership Summit: Students Today. Leaders Tomorrow. For two days Directors of Job Corps centers had the opportunity to listen important conferences such as the discussion: What challenges do Center Directors Face? An interactive talk about the challenges they face and how they face them to achieve positive results in students. An interesting panel discussion was held on the second day on: Building Careers, Not Just Jobs hosted by Thony Martino, Job Corps Dallas Regional Director.
On this occasion, students from varies regions were also part of the conference in DC “Students Today. Leaders Tomorrow”. Representing the Ramey center a student of the Advanced Solar Panel Trade, Devon Smith, had the privilege of attending and participating in the activity where he shared with the Deputy Secretary, U.S. Department of Labor, Julia A. Su and Marty Walsh, Secretary, U.S Department of Labor. An experience that, in addition to being enriching, will be unforgettable for the outstanding RJC student
In addition, the Directors of the Job Corps centers in Puerto Rico, Osvaldo Ubiñas and Miguelina Torres had the opportunity to meet and share with Rachel Torres, Administrator and National Director, Office of Job Corps.


Winter Break: Important Information

The official recess date begins on Friday, December 16, 2022. Residential students will be returning and should be at their respective stops on Sunday, January 8, 2023 at the usual time. Non-residential and residential students will officially begin classes on Monday, January 9, 2023. \\\Ramey Job Corps APP from your cell phone to see the transportation routes by geographic area.
