I’m usually an early adopter of new technologies with a phone chock full of apps, however I didn’t get into TED Talk when it first began nor when it became uber popular some years ago. Well, it’s never too late! After reading a great article about TED talk I’m now a complete convert and thought I’d share a few excerpts as to why. What is a TED Talk? According to TED.com, “TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks. TED began in 1984 and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages.” Basically, they are targeted talks presented by subject area experts. TED talks are an amazing source of encouragement, learning, inspiration and belly laughs. Why TED Talks? 1. They are short. We all have a lot to do and don’t always have enough time to do it. TED talks are all short–18 minutes or less. TED also allows you to search by the type of talk you want and the length.

How Great Leaders Inspire Action by Simon Sinek This is a great talk for leaders. Sinek, who is an author, speaker and leadership expert, introduces the idea that people don’t buy what you do, they buy why you do it. He gives real life examples to make his points and walks us through a great exercise to think about our own lives. 3.
