As the bitter chill of winter sets in, the clubhouse is warm and cosy thanks to the brand-new reverse cycle system! Even more reason to stay for a drink and lunch from Krumm’s Cafe after your round. We sure appreciated this new heating system over the weekend!
How good were the Substitutes!! They certainly had the club house on their feet!! If you missed them, we are hoping they will bring their 60’s repertoire back to the island later in the year.
The course, as always, is looking magnificent this time of the year. Jake and the Course Staff, under the guidance of Kelvin, are doing a phenomenal job, As mentioned in Kelvin’s update, the guys are tireless in their efforts to upgrade and improve our course. Kel also asks all members to please do their little parts, like raking bunkers (even if they aren’t your footsteps and patch divots – all these little things help the image of your course immensely.
The King Island trip is almost full!! Fully organised by the Travelling Golfer – all you need to do is show up and have a great time! Cape Wickham and Ocean Dunes are bucket list courses!!! Booking details are in the newsletter.
We are continually trying to lift ratings and let the general public know what a fabulous course we have! If you have 5 spare minutes, please go to the couple of links added below and add your glowing reviews!!

The club house was absolutely rocking with the wild and wonderful music of the 60’s!
The Substitutes had the dance floor full! From the first song until the last there was a whole lot of grooving going on.
A big shout out to the Queenscliff Yacht Club crew that joined us for the first time. We hope you’ll be back for the AFL final long weekend in September!
The course continues to be presented at a high level; we are receiving consistent positive comment on course presentation.
We have completed the heavy lifting with regard to removal of Italian Buckthorn and Bellarine Pea from the left side of the 13th Fairway. This has been a very difficult task with 50 hours of work completed by bobcat machines and over 150 large trailer loads of these invasive weeds have now been removed.
Work will continue in this area over the next couple of years with our volunteer group doing the finesse work. I would draw the Members attention to the Moonah Trees behind the 13th Green, weed management in this area has been completed by the volunteer’s, what a great look. Our thanks to our fantastic volunteers.
Members will note that we have roped off some high wear areas at green entry and exit points in order to maintain the playing surface, please avoid these areas where possible, particularly if using a cart.
Bunker renovations have been completed on the two bunkers left side of the ninth green and the bunker on the first. The next bunker to be renovated will be the right on the 6th hole.
Landscape planting will soon commence on the left of the 1st in and around the 2nd Tee area with native grasses. Wattle trees were recently removed by the Volunteers followed up with reshaping of this area to open up sight lines though to the 2nd fairway and also enhance the view when entering the course.
Future works are planned to upgrade the car park planting, which will complement the new landscaping on the 1st hole and the course in general.
I will send through a couple of photos to add. 1st showing weed management results to the rear of the 13th green (Moonah trees ). The second bunker Reno’s left side of the 9th green.
We are working hard to improve our course presentation and seek Members assistance with raking of bunkers (Even if they are not your footprints), please replace the rake in the bottom of the bunker. Repairing of pitch marks as the greens are softer at this time of the year ( repairing a pitch mark speeds up the recovery process by approx four weeks ).
Please do not overfill your divots on fairways, the divot should be filled no higher than the grass level, allowing the grass to grow over the divot and therefore not creating a small mound, this method decreases the frequency of back lapping blades on our recently purchased fairway mower.
