From Minister of Edu.cation Guyana celebrated its first . independence anniversary on the 26t-11 May, 1967. In order to celebrate this important ev,ent, several schools had a special programme for the da~. Queen's College was no exception and at ow· programme, the Minjster of Education the Honourable Mrs. Winifred Gaskin was present to d~Jver a message to the school. . First of all the Headmaster read lo the school a text of the mes~age of the Prime Minister to schools on this joyotis occasion after which three national songs were St,ng. The'-e songs were very inspirational and surdv set the pattern for an afternoon of patriotic speeches and !houghts. Next came the most im- lhe way .she delivered it.
