Once again Queen's College has mopped up both Guyana. scholarships open t o us. The scholars being E.A. Low and P.D. Fraser. We are a lso happy to r epor t tha t th e other two went to B ishops' High School, our sister college. As is customary, we bring a repor t on this year's sch >lars.

In 1965, he passed his Advanced Level Pure-andapplied Maths with a distinction. To crown his a cademic career at Queen's, he gained distinctions in Pure Matts, Applied Maths and Physics to emer ge a Guyana Scholar. Peter Donald Fraser was indeed, a very colourful figure. He entered Queen's as a member of t he Prep. for m. I n 1962 he gained six "0" level passes a t the 0 :,,.'~ord and Cambridge examinations and followed this wi1h two more the next year .

he t o o k and three Advanced Level but r emained as he had anoH:er chance at the Guyana scholarship. This year he obtained distinction s in Latin and Spanish and a grade B in English. What is remar kable, however , is tha t he changed from history to Spanish in 1965 and gained a distinction in it.

Fraser was as active in b s extra-cur r icular activities a s he was academically. He served as editor for the Lictor and t he magazine. He was president of t he Literary and Debating Society and t he Historical Society a nd an E xecutive member of the Student Council. On the f ield, he represented his house and t he sch ool r egular ly in hockey. In .1965, F raser was awarded tl:e Luckhoo Debating prize for his outstanding services as a debater for th e school. He was appointed a prefect in 1964 and was elevated to a senior prefect and Head df Woolley House in 1965.

Demba has gr anted scholarships to three of our students, Low E.A., this year's Guyana Scholar, Latchmansingh, S. and Chang, H.L. Sa nkat, V.S. is tl:e winner of a Federal German Republic Medical Sch oliarship while Griffit h, J . has been awarded a scholarship by Bank Breweries.

THE result of this year's Advanced Level Examinations showed t hat t he Advance Level students maintained the record which was made last year by r etaining the eighteen distinctions. In 1964, the results showed that- there were only seven distinctions and the,'.e was only one G~yana Schola r due to results. In 1965 when the record was set, the school was honoured by having both Guyana Scholars C. Ring and J . Robinson and in this year when the record was maint ained, both Guyana Scholars were Q.C. boys. Ninetyfive boys sat the Advanced LeYel Examination taking a total of 237 subjects. Ther e were 57% passes, the number of subjects passed being 135.

His 1,000 included three centuries with a caree r best of 158 n ot out aga inst Georgetown Cricket Club. In the match against EICC, Geer, D. returned figures o f 7- 20 to pass his 50 w icket mark. This is indeed a fitting tribute
