'FO'R E WORD. '

, I AM quite in the, dark al;! to what is · going to appear in · this issue of tbe School Magazine, but I would hazard a guess that one particular . subject will be touched upon- the new buildings for Q_ueen's College.

. It is a long story, the story of the trials and tribulations connected wi'th tliose new buildings-far too long and involved to permit my recounting in this short "Foreword".

It must suffice for me to say that the older meinbers of the Staff- those who had known of the various endeavom·s made--had almost, but not quite, given up hope of ever eeing Queen's College housed in a building worthy of the traditions which the School has built up during its hundred years of existence.

A short whil e ago the Officer Admini.'tering the Government made the announcement in the Legislati.ve Council that application liad b·e en made to the Secretary of State for the Colonies for permission to proceed with the new buildings on Thomas Lands. Truly, a red letter day in the hi. tory of the ollege ! And the Pre. s 1 ft us in no doubt that the tatement had been received with acclamation . by the populace of the Colony.

We can now go ahead in the knowledge that in the space of a few years our School will the proud possessor of a building which, in design an l equipment, will be one of the best in the Caribbean area. Those of you who ·will finish your school careers in the new buildings are indeed the lucky ones!
