Chemical Hygiene Plan and Safety Manual - LP3014.2 Laboratory Accommodations and Environmental Conditions
1.0 Purpose
The purpose of this procedure is to establish and maintain standards for Purity Laboratories, Inc. (Purity) with regards to the accommodations and environmental conditions of the laboratory.

2.0 Scope
This procedure applies to all personnel employed at Purity.
3.0 Safety
Normal laboratory precautions apply, including eye protection, lab coat and other protective precautions as required.
4.0 Procedure
4 1 Laboratory Facility
4 1 1 Purity will follow all applicable local, state, and national legislation regarding the health and safety of staff Additional procedures regarding the health and safety of staff can be found in LP3001 to LP3012 Chemical Hygiene Plan and Safety Manual
4 1 1 1 Purity will provide personal protective equipment including eye protection, lab coats, gloves, and other protective equipment as needed
4 1 1 2 Purity will also ensure that there is adequate and proper storage for all chemicals, reagents, media, controls, and standards to ensure the safety of personnel and to reduce risk of spills, fire, or other catastrophic events
4 1 2 Management must ensure that the laboratory facility has adequate space and resources to conduct analysis as needed.
4.1.2.1 When equipment is purchased or moved to a new location within the laboratory, management must address the specific needs of the equipment. This includes, but is not limited to: contamination; electrical needs; venting; water; accessibility for performing maintenance, cleaning, and calibration; and any other specifications given by the manufacturer.
4.1.3 Purity will give consideration regarding the comfort of personnel in areas including, but not limited to: work station ergonomics; provision of adequate “people amenities” such as lunchroom, eating areas, and restrooms; and provision of adequate heating and cooling, ventilation, and lighting.
4 1 4 To prevent cross-contamination or compromise of test results, effective separation will be established where incompatible activities occur in an area
