INDIA CARPET EXPO a próxima India Carpet Expo (ICE), la gran fiesta de las alfombras y moquetas de lana y seda artesanas y revestimientos de suelos, se celebrará del 3 al 6 de octubre de 2009 en el Sampurnanand Sanskrit University Ground de Varanasi. La muestra la organiza el Carpet Export Promotion Council con el patrocinio del Gobierno Indio. La bien establecida y reputada ICE está lista para recibir a clientes de todo el mundo, para que estos verifiquen un interesante conjunto de alfombras artesanas y revestimientos de suelo alentadores, atractivos, agradables y originales, ya sean antiguos, modernos o contemporáneos, producidas en varias áreas del país como BhadohiMirzapur, Varanasi, Jaipur, Panipat, Kashmir etc. En un área de más de 10.000 m2, más de 200 fabricantes-exportadores expondrán lo mejor y las últimas tendencias que pueden ofrecer al ICE, desde las alfombras orientales tradicionales a las piezas modernas, innovadoras y contemporáneas. En el momento de redactar estas líneas, semanas antes del encuentro, unos 100 compradores de Australia, Bélgica, Brasil, Canadá, Dinamarca, Francia, Alemania, Italia, Japón, Países Bajos, Portugal, Rusia, Sudáfrica, España, Turquía, Emiratos Árabes Unidos, el Reino Unido y Estados Unidos, entre otros, se habían inscrito ya para visitar la ICE, y las inscripciones no han cesado... En la ICE los visitantes tendrán la ocasión de realizar negocios en la Expo por un lado y, por otro, ser turistas en la Ciudad Antigua de Varanasi (Benarés) así como visitar fábricas de expositores y disfrutar de visitas turísticas gratuitas guiadas por Varanasi y las áreas tejedoras de alfombras adyacentes de Bhadohi-Mirzapur. El principal objetivo del CEPC al organizar la ICE en el cinturón alfombrero de Varanasi es proporcionar, bajo un mismo techo, una oportunidad de negocio única tipo ‘pick and choose’

La intención final del Consejo es proporcionar un entorno de negocios a importadores de alfombras, así como a los fabricantes y expositores. La confirmación de la visita de un gran número de compradores indica que la feria es reconocida en ultramar como una fuente ideal para proveerse en India. El organizador CEPC ofrece el reembolso de los gastos de viaje y de alojamiento a compradores de ultramar seleccionados para atraer a una gran cantidad de compradores a la muestra.
