In Brief Challenge One of UAE’s most well-liked hospital wanted to have a Disaster Recovery site to backup all its existing IT infrastructure in case of any man made / Natural calamity and ensures complete Business Continuity. Since the client is major giant in Medical centers in UAE, this was a much esteemed project for us.

Solution Progressive setup a Disaster Recovery site for the client creating complete replica of the existing IT infrastructure ensuring complete move over of all systems & applications, maintaining business continuity. The Solution was implemented with VMware Site Recovery Manager – making disaster recovery rapid, manageable, reliable & affordable.

Disaster Recovery Setup The client wanted to have Disaster Recovery Site to support all of its IT operations and automatically becomes active in case of failover process. The site should be capable enough to handle all of IT infrastructure with real time switchover process and a central point of management for disaster recovery plans.

Progressive's solution constitutes of setting up a disaster recovery site, with the help of VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager. er. It also includes, VMware vSphere ESX for 8 physical servers distributed equally between Production and DR Sites with HP High Configuration Server for DR and Site Location. The recovery process includes 15 physical servers such as domain 2003, exchange 2007 clustered, SQL 2005 clustered, SharePoint 2003, SCOM, ISA 2006 and SCCM 2007 and Creation of 15 New virtual Machine on top of 8 Physical Server.

A Site Recovery Manager (SRM) is installed, which has a management service that takes care of managing, updating, and executing disaster recovery plans. This service links very tightly with VirtualCenter. The Disaster Recovery keeps a complete replica of the production environment which keeps on updating itself on real time basis. This includes all transactions such as Data, Architectural design, Hierarchal structure etc, everything which possess value to the organization. ation. This includes, Configuration ESX 4.0 Server on the 4 Physical servers and Storage LUN’s presentation for the ESX Server at DR site. Another important feature which needs to be addressed was Recovery plans.

Create, configure, and manage recovery plans from VMware Virtual Center, making it possible to manage disaster recovery plans as an integral part of virtual infrastructure. Turn the complex, manual run books boo that are commonly required in traditional disaster recovery solutions into automated recovery workflows maintained and executed automatically at a push of a button from within Site Recovery Manager.

Once recovery plans have been created, automate execution tion of those recovery plans in order to make recovery dramatically faster by eliminating the slow and unreliable manual processes otherwise required.
