THE JCI SENATE OF NEW JERSEY The JCI Senate of New Jersey is an independent organization, with its own constitution and bylaws, associated with the US JCI Senate, United States Junior Chamber, and Junior Chamber International The US JCI Senate consists of over 8,000 members throughout 50 states and the District of Columbia. The purposes of the Senate include: - Assisting and mentoring Jaycees.

- Supporting the US JCI Senate Foundation in bestowing college scholarships to graduating seniors.

- Promoting fellowship among its members.

A Senatorship is the highest international honor that can be given to a Jaycee. Only 1 out of 1,000 Jaycees becomes a Senator.

RECENT EVENTS FROM JCI NEW JERSEY JCI NEW JERSEY STATE HOLDS THEIR FORMAL INDUCTION May 25, 2019, Union, NJ – The JCI New Jersey organization for young leaders held their formal induction of this year’s state officers. Members of chapters from New Jersey helped in the preparation while guests from New York came to celebrate the event and support this year’s board. JCI NEW JERSEY HOSTS NATIONAL PRESIDENT TRICIA BUEHNE June 13, 2019, Jersey City NJ – State President Maria together with members and alumni took National President Tricia to popular sites in New Jersey during her transit before going to her international event at the JCI Asia Pacific Conference.

The state also met incumbent JCI Surinam National President Klebert Denthe.

Others in attendance to this luncheon was State President Maria Nucum’s daughter Tara Nucum, and former JCI USA NVP/JCI Senator Ria Serrano (also from New Jersey) with husband Sergey Ivanovich.

JCI NEW JERSEY MEETS WORLDWIDE LEADERS June 21, 2019, New York, NY – JCI NJ State President Maria Nucum, attended two events to represent our organization.

She first attended an exclusive inviteonly event hosted by the Philippine Consulate in New York for Community Leaders, which was also a celebration of Philippine Independence Day (June 12).

State President Maria then proceeded to a meeting with Global Peace Founder Dr. Vasu Gounden and Program Coordinator Matthew Kimble at the home of Ambassador Jerry M. Matjila (South African Permanent Representative to the UN).

Global Peace and JCI will be working together to plan and host 100 InterGenerational Dialogues (IGDs) in 100 Cities across the world. This partnership will allow both JCI and ACCORD to connect with young people who are working with local decision makers to solve development challenges that will impact our future and build sustainable peace.

JCI New Jersey is excited to support Global Peace and the Peace Is Possible campaign.

JCI NEW JERSEY SUPPORTS THEIR FILIPINO-AMERICAN MEMBERS June 23, 2019, Jersey City NJ – In support to the members’ Filipino Heritage, JCI New Jersey proudly marched at the Philippine-American Friendship Committee (PAFCOM) Parade in Jersey City, NJ with our 2019 State President Maria Nucum. Joining us were neighboring Chapters from New York (JCI Manhattan led by CP Cecile Duyongco and JCI Philippine-NY led by CP Aprille Aquino) as well as members of our JCI New Jersey Youth.

JCI NORTH JERSEY MOBILIZED ‘BACKPACKS FOR HAITI’ July 22, 2019, Jersey City, NJ - JCI North Jersey chapter mobilized their Annual Backpack Drive and this time it will be sent to Haiti.

Incumbent JCI North Jersey VP Rosalina Dorvilus who hails from Haiti together with new member Fidline Silvain who chaired this project put the idea together and requested the help of their JCI home chapter.

The chapter collected used and new backpacks to benefit poor rural school aged children living in poverty in the Gonaives, Haiti. The goal of the project was to help children living in poverty obtain the basic school supplies needed to attend school and improve their quality of their education so their families can focus more on learning and preparing for the upcoming school year. The goal was to collect 100 backpacks to benefit 100 children Gonaives, Haiti.

JCI NEW JERSEY ATTENDS THE 2019 JCI USA NATIONAL CONVENTION September 25-30, Corpus Cristi, TX – JCI New Jersey with members from JCI North Jersey and JCI Philippine-American chapters were in attendance to support the National President Tricia Buehne and the rest of her 2019 board members.

JCI NEW JERSEY ATTENDS THE 81st Annual TOYA September 28, Corpus Cristi, TX – JCI New Jersey with members from JCI North Jersey and JCI Philippine-American attended the 81st Annual Ten Outstanding Young Americans Gala (TOYA)

A JCI NEW JERSIAN IS ONE OF THE 2020 JCI USA NATIONAL VICE PRESIDENTS Last September, JCI USA held their Annual National Convention and Election. Out of the seven candidates vying for the office of National Vice President role, one of them was coming from our great Garden State of New Jersey. Her name is Joyce Andes-David.

Together working with her on this role is Danielle Fields from Georgia, Trey Jenkins from South Carolina, Margo Dirkson from Tennessee, Miranda Williams from Mississippi, and Anna Price from North Carolina.

Leading them this year is the JCI USA President elect Justin Wutzke.

JCI New Jersey and JCI Philippine-American New Jersey World Clean Up September 21, 2019, South Amboy, NJ – JCI New Jersey State and JCI Philippine-American New Jersey teamed up to participate in JCI’s world-wide program called World Clean Up Day. In New Jersey, local members, families and friends came to help each other in Raritan Bay Waterfront Park to clean up the beach area from unsightly trash that can be picked up and properly be moved to areas where it will not get to the waters. State President Maria worked with Jay Elliot, Clean Communities Coordinator, City of South Amboy to make this project possible.
