With 18 years of experience photographing quinceañeras, one of my biggest challenges is making each quinceañera feel like a true princess. For me, the most important elements in a pre-event photoshoot are the dress, makeup, and hair.

Hi, I’m Asya! I’m 14 and already planning every little detail of my quinceañera. There’s a lot that goes into preparing for this once-in-a-lifetime celebration, but one thing I’ve learned from all my research is that skincare has to start early. I want to look and feel my best on that day, so I’ve been seeing an aesthetician and sticking to a skincare routine with good products and monthly facials. It takes time to get your skin glowing, and I want to make sure my face is as happy as my heart will be.
One of the first things I locked in was my dress. I picked a color and style that totally feels like me. That choice is so important because it helps set the tone for everything else especially the makeup. Your makeup look should complement your dress, your skin tone, and your personality. That’s why I’m booking a consultation and trial session with a professional Makeup Artist. I want to be glamorous, but still look like myself—just extra special. Plus, I’ve heard that trial sessions help make sure your makeup photographs beautifully (those photos last forever in Latino families!).
After that, I’m moving on to my hair and nails! I already have a Pinterest board full of hairstyle ideas and nail art that match my dress. It’s all about finding a full look that makes me feel confident and beautiful. Through it all, I’m keeping my parents in the loop. Their opinions matter, but they also trust me to express myself. This day is about becoming who I am, and I want every detail to reflect that.
