Hailing from Lexington, Kentucky - Singer/songwriter Anne Wilson knows the healing power of music firsthand. The lyrics of Hillsong Worship’s “What A Beautiful Name” became a lifeline for the Lexington, Kentucky native after her brother was tragically killed in a car accident at the age of 23. Although she spent much of her childhood behind a piano, Wilson sang in front of an audience for the first time at her brother’s funeral. It was at that moment that she realized what she was born to do. With a mesmerizing voice and a visible hunger for Jesus, the 20-year-old relies on personal journal entries and time spent in nature for songwriting inspiration. “Hey Girl,” was released to Christian radio in September 2022, as the third single from her debut studio album, My Jesus. The anthem style song for all girls of any age was penned by Wilson along with Jeff Pardo and Matthew West. The song has three versions, one specifically called “The Kentucky Version." With an overwhelming reception by audiences on all platforms, the single “Hey Girl” debuted on the October 2022 Power Source Christian Country chart at #31 followed by a staggering climb to #1 on the November 2022 Power Source Christian Country chart. Her song, “My Jesus,” charted on the Spotify Viral 50, Shazam Top 200, and Rolling Stone Top 25 Trending charts. Her story was also featured with the Religion News Service and The Washington Post. She made her Opry debut on the iconic stage in September 2021. Wilson was featured in Billboard Magazine as the October 2021 Chartbreaker artist, and Wilson's “My Jesus” received a 2022 Billboard Music Award for “Top Christian Song” of the year. It’s a Sevier County Christmas in the Smoky Mountains! It happens each November to February as lights are turned on and the most popular Tennessee destination becomes a winter wonderland of Christmas lights. Not just one city within this county, it is the whole county – from exit 407 of I-40 leading you to Sevierville, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, all the way through to the most visited entrance of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It’s Smoky Mountain Winterfest! It’s a Must Experience for Everyone! 30
Viewing Smoky Mountain Winterfest lights is a great way to get in the holiday spirit and with more than 15 million lights, there’s certainly plenty of looking to do. Upon your exit from the interstate, you will be immersed in the beauty of the light displays and you cannot miss the Shadrack’s Christmas Wonderland at Smokies Stadium (located at exit 407). This 1.5-mile drive through LED light and music experience is considered one of the most immersive drive-through Christmas experiences. On your way to downtown Sevierville you can check out new drive-thru Christmas adventure at Wilderness at the Smokies this year. Traveling through the county seat of Sevierville, the businesses and residents do not disappoint with their involvement in this annual holiday event, it simply spectacular to view. And you guessed it, the most popular outlet mall, Tanger Outlet – Sevierville, is a holiday hub with nearly 150 name brand outlet stores and specialty retail shops. Music fills the air all around the mall, you can sing along as you shop. You can even take a piece of Winterfest home by visiting stores like Country Christmas &Collectibles where Winterfest style lighting displays are for sale. Just on past the Sevierville Tanger Outlet Mall, as you continue to enjoy the beauty of the light displays, is Pigeon Forge, driving down the parkway will treat you to a view of the 12 Days of Christmas in lights. You have entered the heart of the most popular tourist destination and the home of Dollywood. Christmas is a magical time at Dollywood with Smoky Mountain Christmas, an award-winning festival known for being the best across America. Also experience Glacier Ridge, showcasing a 50-foot video motion Christmas tree. There is so much to do in Pigeon Forge with all the attractions and businesses creating a winter extravaganza. New this year is a glowing showstopper along the Riverwalk Trail near the Island attraction. Many of the light displays are massive towering 25 feet tall. There are 40 light displays just in Pigeon Forge, the opportunity for making memories is spectacular. And the SHOWS!! Don’t miss the best in Christmas music shows – the choices cover all genres and age groups. Next up in the drive is town snuggled in the mountains, the place where famous song Rocky Top was written and where for more than 30 years, Gatlinburg has celebrated Winterfest with millions of twinkling lights on festive holiday displays throughout the city. Everything is coming up Christmas in Gatlinburg from Ripley’s Aquarium to Ober Ski Resort. On the left as you come into downtown is an incredible attraction call Anakeesta where they are bring the stars to us. Immerse yourself in illuminating encounters of lighting, projection, and sound, and connect with the stars before they return to the sky above. Astra Lumina at Anakeesta is the 15th experience in the Lumina Enchanted Night Walk series, and the very first in the United States. Keep your ears open to hear all the Christmas sounds in downtown Gatlinburg. Another incredible attraction transformation to experience is Gatlinburg SkyLift Park with thousands of twinkling lights, holiday displays and sparkling trees dancing to music. The record-breaking SkyBridge is a glowing tunnel of lights sprinkled with snowflakes. The SkyTrail is lined with dancing trees accompanied by music. Make sure to travel the Gatlinburg Bypass to stop off at a pull over, the view of the lights is beyond description. By day the entire area of Sevierville, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg offer a holiday experience unmatched anywhere, BUT the best plan is to spend the day, those daylight hours in the most visited National Park in the United States, THE GREAT SMOKY MOUNTAINS NATIONAL PARK. The beauty of this national treasure is a must do and is the only national park that is free to visit. Spend the day driving or hiking in the park, then back into town for a yummy dinner that will have everyone ready to experience Winterfest in the Smokies.
