JESUS “And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.” - Luke 2:10-11 Throughout the modern era of time it is a custom to announce the coming birth of a child. Depending on culture, the timing varies from moment of conception or at a particular point of the pregnancy. It is worth noting that the most popular birth of all time was announced eighteen centuries before the miraculous moment. Eighteen centuries before the birth of Jesus, God told Abram of his coming. Genesis 12:1-3 Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. In the case of Mary, the mother of Jesus, the Angel Gabriel visited, announcing that she would have a son, who would be God’s son. While we don’t know Mary’s age at the time of this happening, it is believed that she was a teenager based on Jewish culture of bethroyal, somewhere between 12-16 years of age. Have you ever considered the spiritual maturity required of Mary at such a young age? At this same time, Joseph, the soon to be husband of Mary was also visited by the Angel Gabriel and told, "Do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit," and her son, Jesus, would save the people from their sins. All of the happenings of this time let us know that the perfect couple was chosen to bring our Savior into this world. As Mary was coming into the full time period of the pregnancy, the Roman emperor ordered a census, or record, of all people, requiring it to be documented in their respective hometown. Mary and Joseph traveled to Bethlehem to accommodate

this order. Upon arrival, they were told there were no places to stay. Can you imagine Mary traveling pregnant on a donkey, can’t imagine this was a fun excursion for either of them. While there were no vacancies, one inn owner made his stable available to the couple. "And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn." (Luke 2:4-7) Mary and Joseph settled on the hay with animals sleeping. Mary went into labor, and Jesus was born in the stable. The only place for the sleeping baby to rest was most likely in the animals' trough, known as the manger. Just as we experience today, the announcement of a new birth is a big deal, all made much easier these days with the invention of email and social media. None of that compares to how God chose to announce the birth of Jesus! An angel appeared to shepherds who were watching their flocks in the fields near Bethlehem. The angel told them the good news of the birth of the Savior and Messiah, Jesus Christ. The shepherds immediately went to find baby Jesus, whom the angels told them they would find sleeping in the manger. Jesus was Born!! "And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with fear. And the angel said to them, "Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger." And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!" (Luke 2:8-14) By all accounts known, it was a typical earthly childhood for Jesus, growing up in Nazareth. Every year Joseph brought his family to Jerusalem for Passover. It was a very long trip, mostly walking and would take about three days. Jesus had siblings, it was a large family and while all were traveling back home it was discovered that Jesus was not with them, they couldn't find the twelve year old. After returning to Jerusalem, they find Him in the temple with the teachers. Mary asked immediately, “Child, why have you done this to us? Your father and I have been trying to find you?” Jesus answered, “Why did you have to look for me? Didn't you know that I had to be in the house of my Father?” While that sounds like a typical preteen talking back, it was not. Mary nor Joseph understood what Jesus was talking about, but she kept the words in her heart. Upon their return to Nazareth, Jesus obeyed his parents and kept growing in physical body, knowledge plus in favor with people and God. Did you know that the story of Jesus entering the Temple at 12 years old is the only mention of his childhood in the Bible? John appeared, baptizing in the wilderness and proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. Mark 1:4 Into the story comes John the Baptist, a relative of Jesus, who is out in the desert attracting crowds to his teachings, saying that he is preparing the way for a greater teacher. Jesus, who is now grown, goes out to the desert where John is teaching. Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John. But John tried to deter him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?”Jesus replied, “Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness.” Then John consented. As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” Matthew 3:13-17

With the announcement to the crowd that Jesus is the teacher that he has been talking about, the baptism takes place in the River of Jordan at Bethany. In the book of Matthew it is recorded that as Jesus prayed during the baptism, “...heaven was opened and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form, like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son whom I love; with you I am well pleased”’. Immediately Jesus goes into the Judean desert for 40 days without food. The devil tempts but Jesus resists. It must have been a heck of a battle as Matthew 4:11 shares the ending, “Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.” Learning shortly thereafter of the imprisonment of John the Baptist, Jesus returned to Galilee and made Capernaum his home base. This was a fulfillment of Isaiah’s prophecy and from that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.” The Bible shares a deep dive into the establishment of the ministry of Jesus. As a youngster He goes about the training, then seeks out the baptism fully embracing the Calling, and then goes about the setting up of the support team otherwise known as disciples. Most interesting or what we can most learn from what the Bible captures is the message of togetherness. He is the Son of God, surely He needed no one to go about His Father’s business, but that is not what happens. Lesson to all, this is not a solo act, it is a team thing! As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” At once they left their nets and followed him. Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them, and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him. Matthew 4:18-22 During a wedding in Cana of Galilee, Jesus, at his Mother’s request, transformed water into wine, the quality of which is highly praised by the ruler of the feast. This is the first recorded miracle performed by Jesus. It is interesting to note that Jesus did this miracle to solve an issue at a wedding of which He was an invited guest. Mary must have been earthly proud of her Son and overwhelmed with the glorious act of her Savior. What a joyous occasion for all who witnessed the beginning of miracles. "This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him." John 2:11 It was the amazing start to a walk on this earth to bring redemption to all. What a “breaking news” ministry took place in the time that followed. Can you imagine if today’s media had witnessed all that will happen next? What would be the report on Jesus clearing the Temple of rogue merchants and money-changers? All the amazing miracles and teachings! Jesus taught in the synagogues across Galilee, however,

ANNIE GET YOUR GUITAR

Best known for her chart-topping single, “Christmas Without You,” written by Lawton Jiles and Buster Beams, a song that was originally commissioned by Legendary Country singer Patsy Cline in 1960. Author, inspirational speaker, journalist, YouTube influencer, music producer and recording artist Luanne “Annie” Hunt has taken her life and career to unimaginable heights since re-recording that track in 2010 at the request of Lawton Jiles, whom she began collaborating with in the late 90’s. In 2003, Hunt teamed up with country/folk producer Eric Uglum and began recording a series of albums. In 2009, Hunt's song "The Sun’s Coming Up Over Memphis" reached No. 10 on Nashville’s New Music Weekly country chart. That same year she landed on the 2009 Grammy ballot with songs from her first nationally-released album, “Breaking Through,” and in 2020, the singer-songwriter did it again, landing on the Grammy ballot for her critically acclaimed anthem, “We Rise.” The Pennsylvania native headed west spending 22 years as a freelance journalist for the Media News Group chain based in Southern California. Over the years, she interviewed and wrote about some of the biggest celebrities in the world and continued her music journey. Luanne spent a childhood being told she would never amount to anything and specifically that she could not even think about singing. With a love for country music, she just refused to listen to the naysayers, following the dream within her heart. That is the first thing you hear in her voice, a true passion to share words of love, hope, encouragement, strength, and joy with the world. From 2004 to 2009, Luanne traveled the U.S. as an inspirational speaker for Stonecraft Ministries. She also has authored three books to date and was commissioned by the Villagers for Veterans charity to write and produce a song titled, “Brave American Girl,” which pays tribute to women veterans. The song/video will premier at an upcoming Villagers for Veterans event and will be introduced by the 2016 winner of the Miss U.S.A. pageant, Deshauna Barber.

The journey of life for the Grammy nominated Luanne Hunt has been filled with many bends in the road, a few unexpected exits to venture down but never afraid to take the path in front of her. After the passing of her husband of 26 years, Hunt moved to Las Vegas where she made a friend that would bring a new road to explore, one of healing from loss and new love. Then with just a few weeks notice, a call to Nashville to do an album. With a tickled humor in her voice, Luanne lets you know that while she loves the home of Country music, one cold winter had set her setting course for the warmer temperatures of the south. These days, Luanne known to all as “Annie” makes the Sunshine State of Florida home. Throughout her illustrious career, the award-winning, three-time Grammy-balloted recording artist has built an impressive list of accomplishments which include numerous No. 1 hits on independent Folk, Gospel, and Country music charts around the world. Just releasing her 24th album which goes right along with her 24 No. 1 chart hits, 6 American Songwriting Awards, 5 Josie Music Award Nominations, 3 CD of the Year Awards from the NTCMA and a Independent Superstars Hall of Fame induction. Most recent, Best Original Song from the Round The Globe Film and Music Festival 2024. The journey continues, it is quite fitting that her latest album is titled, “Miles and Memories,” showcasing Luanne “Annie” Hunt’s talent for storytelling. It's an emotional story set to a rootsy folk sound, with heartfelt lyrics expressing the power of music to bring love, inspiration, and healing. It is evidence that no matter where the road takes you, the power to rise is always present. Every note is a testament to the honor and joy that we all get to experience thanks to that day so long ago that Annie got her guitar!
