The World Police & Fire Games are known today as the second largest international sporting event, offering police officers, firefighters, customs and correction officers from around the world an opportunity to showcase their athletic excellence. Originally founded in 1985 by the non-profit organization, World Police & Fire Games Federation, the Games now boast over 60 sporting events and 70 countries represented by more than 10,000 competitors.

INCREASING EXPOSURE
With the Games being held biennially, the projected attendance and participation numbers are expected to increase from the 2015 Games. The international community continues to bid eagerly for the location rights for the World Police & Fire Games, while the 2017 Games are scheduled for August 7th - 17th in Los Angeles, California. Previous host cities have included Melbourne, Stockholm, Barcelona & Belfast.

Considering the average to be one & one-half persons accompanying each competitor, we calculate that a total of 15,000 – 30,000 visitors will attribute to the substantial economic impact in the host cities and their surrounding vicinities during the 10-day event. The Games have proven to bring together entire communities, local residents have taken to “adopting” teams and the camaraderie includes community organizations, business leaders and educators all joining forces to support first responders and their countrymen.

While enhancing the awareness of the event through social media, grassroots and sponsorship campaigns, the attractiveness and scope of the World Police & Fire Games continues to grow!
Held annually in June, athletes from across the US, representing law enforcement, firefighters, officers from corrections, probation, border protection, immigration and customs, compete in Olympic-style sports in 35 different venues in San Diego County.
Held annually in February at Mammoth Mountain, California competitors from all over the world compete in dozens of winter events including Nordic Racing, Alpine Skiing, & Snow Boarding.
