Parks and recreational centres galore Community park upgrades
Council has started upgrading community reserves in Elizabeth North, Hillbank and Munno Para. Dauntsey Reserve (Elizabeth North), Michael Reserve (Hillbank) and Munno Para Linear Park South (Munno Para) will have new playground equipment installed. These upgraded reserves are due to open to the public in July.
Munno Para West Community Park
The City of Playford will build a new neighbourhood park on the corner of Peerless and Tatura Roads at Munno Para West. While construction on the playground won’t take place until 2023, preliminary site works have begun. This includes the installation of fencing and the demolition of existing
Angle Vale Community Sports Centre
The final stage (stage 5A) of the Angle Vale Sports and Community Centre is currently out to tender. Once a contractor has been selected, works are due to begin mid-year. Stage 5A of this project is anticipated for completion at the end of 2022, and will include a BMX track, playground, and public toilet facility, making the Angle Vale Community Sports Centre a true sporting and activity hub. structures on the site. Later in the year, there will be a community consultation where the public will be able to have input on the concept design for the park.
Virginia Main Street
Site works for the upgrade to the Virginia Main Street are commencing this month. The project will run from the Virginia Sports Oval to just south of the intersection with Penfield and Sheedy Roads, with the contractor working directly with local traders to ensure that delays are kept to a minimum. The new main street will feature wide shared pedestrian and cycle paths, a priority pedestrian crossing, improvements to stormwater infrastructure, new street trees, on-street parking, and the development of the Virginia Institute Park into a community destination.
