FESTIVAL PLAYFORD HISTORY

Playford’s strong history is woven into the fabric of our community and it is intrinsically linked to each and every one of us who hold a connection to this wonderful place.
We have a rich heritage which stems from the start of Elizabeth as a satellite city to visits from the royal family, while the lore of Tommy the Elephant, Centrals Football Club and the iconic Holden factory are also etched into the memories of those who call or have once called, Playford home.
We see history created through watching our children grow up in our libraries and community centres and by witnessing the talent of local schools and organisations at The Shedley Theatre. Each contribution is a part of Playford's history and its uniqueness contributes to our shared story.
Through the hearts and memories of this community past and present, Playford’s history will continue to be passed down to many generations to come. We invite you to join us in learning about our shared past and capture your own connection to the area to become a part of Playford’s story.
Welcome to the Playford History Festival 2025.
