Yes, it is a fact that many people decided to practice confinement as a measure to preserve health due to the threat of Covid 19. Despite this, surprisingly, we saw emerging initiatives capable of building new links and scenarios that, perhaps in other conditions, would have been unlikely to happen. One example was the first Borderless Content Congress.
Borderless Content Congress was an online international congress about cinema, content, and XR, presented by Gabriel Reyes, director of the production company I Digital Creative Studio, in alliance with Ramón Toledo, another talent and pioneer of the video game industry, founder of Tomatazos and San Diego Red, among other communication companies. DEI- TAC, an organism focused on the economic development of Baja, also participated as an ally, under the guidance of the then-president, Carlos Higuera. This activity generated privileged information for the various sectors interested in the film industry.
The first version of the event took place from June 15 to 20. It included conferences, master classes, and panels. Around 150 local, national, and international creative people spoke about the trends, resources, and challenges of the industry worldwide. Segments dedicated to video games, virtual and augmented reality, streaming, and new industry protocols due to the Covid 19 contingency, were also considered among other topics.
It became clear that Baja California represents a golden opportunity for the film industry sector. We offer natural settings, highly trained personnel, and first-rate facilities such as Baja Studios, (Titanic, Master and Commander, Little Boy, Pearl Harbor, Fear the Walking Dead) suitable to place the region in the worldwide arena of TV and/or film production. Baja is definitely an attractive spot not only in Mexico but also abroad.
Gabriel Reyes commented that a memoir is being prepared in order to learn from this exchange of ideas, likewise, videos will be edited to make a series in television format. Both documents will be an obligatory reference for people interested in the film industry and will be available to experts, students, and the general public. Above all, it is expected to be a useful tool for the new generation of filmmakers and producers.

BORDERLESS CONTENT CONGRESS
RAMÓN TOLEDO

Ramon Toledo is considered a pioneer in the field of video games since he launched Level Up, nowadays considered as the biggest video game website in Latinamerica. Always open to sharing his knowledge and supporting innovative projects, he was a sponsor as well as a guest in the Borderless Content Congress.
Along with Joe Unger and Tomo Miwaki, he was invited to participate in the panel: The Future of Video Gaming and its Content Convergence, where each guest expressed their ideas about the growing market of video games around the world and the difficulties to access distribution means. They advised the young game developers about the need to create content in order to face the audience soon and gain a relationship that leads to a learning experience.
On the context of the Congress, we had a brief chat for Salad Bowl readers. Toledo was critical about the lack of government support towards the film industry and outlined the importance of organizing this kind of events which are focused on promoting the advantages that Baja California has to offer to the film producers. We are highly competitive in talent, facilities and above all, the low cost compared with other options like Vancouver.
Ramón Toledo also said that he is optimistic about the new challenges where the digital world overcomes the way we used to experience the entertainment options before Covid, including that of cinema. He finally stated that this is a good moment for producers, as long as they avoid imitation and instead, embrace innovation.
