The Aquatic Complex features a 25-yard 8-lane competition pool, a children’s wading pool, and a zero-depth entry multigenerational pool with water slides, diving board, and rock-climbing walls. This Aquatic Complex plays an important role in the City of Palm Beach Gardens instructional water safety programming.
HOURS OF OPERATION
The Aquatic Complex is an outdoor, year-round facility. The hours of operation vary by amenity, and season. For our facility schedule, please scan the QR code or visit pbgrec.com/aquatics.
Aquatic programming such as Learn to Swim Lessons, and Water Fitness will be canceled if the air temperature is below 65 degrees. Aquatics Open Swim in the main pool will not open if the air temperature is below 70 degrees and/or water temperature is below 81 degrees. Other combinations of air temperature, wind chill and water temperature may also prohibit the Aquatic Complex from opening.
The Aquatic Complex patrons can get text and/or email alerts on pool delays, schedules, or closures. Rainout Line will be updated in the event of a pool closure and updates will be posted online at pbgrec.com/aquatics.

SHALLOW WATER FITNESS
Join us for a shallow water workout in our main pool! This class is designed to improve flexibility, strength, and cardiovascular endurance all while using the resistance of the water. Shallow water depths provide a cushion to the joints while still providing an awesome workout!
DEEP WATER FITNESS
Enjoy a workout in our temperature-regulated pool. The deep-water aspect of this class is designed to give participants a great workout, all while having a low impact on the body. Classes consist of cardio, core strengthening, and stretching.

SWIM LESSON REGISTRATION
Palm Beach Gardens residents will receive a two-week priority window for swim lesson registration before it opens to the general public. This priority access will be available for every season of swim lessons, giving you the opportunity to secure spots early. Available for ages 3 years to adults. Each lesson is 25 minutes long and will pair one swimmer and one instructor. Semi-private lessons are possible, pairing two swimmers and one instructor. The instructor will work at the pace of the swimmer(s) to reach their individual goals, working towards water competency, technique, and water safety.
REFUND/MAKEUP POLICY
Refunds and rescheduling are not available due to personal reasons missed. Classes will not be held under the minimum registration. Makeups for weather cancellations (by the City) will take place following the end of the session. Sessions are complete with 8 classes of 50% of time taught (i.e.: 20 minutes of a level class, 15 minutes of private/ preschool).

MAKOS SWIM TEAM PREP
Participants will refine the 4 competitive strokes while increasing endurance and technique. Each day will consist of dynamic stretching, instructional time, and racing drills.
PREREQUISITES: Swim front crawl 25 yards with rotary breathing, backstroke 25 yards, breaststroke 25 yards, and butterfly 15 yards. Submerge and swim 3-5 body lengths underwater. AGE: 6-17
This lifeguard preparatory class enhances participants’ physical fitness to meet prerequisite requirements and introduces essential lifeguarding skills. Ideal for those aiming to become certified lifeguards.
PREREQUISITE: Jump or step into water over your head. Return to the surface and float or tread for one minute. Turn around in a full circle and find exit. Swim 25 yards to exit without stopping. Exit water without using ladder.

LIFEGUARD
Candidates successfully completing the class will be certified in Lifeguarding, Standard First Aid, and CPR for the Professional Rescuer. Must attend all classes.
PREREQUISITE: Must be able to complete a swim-tread-swim sequence successfully: Swim 150 yards continuously using front crawl or breaststroke. After swimming 150 yards, tread for 2 minutes without the use of arms/hands. After maintaining position at the water’s surface for 2 minutes, swim 50 more yards. Must be able to swim 20 yards, submerge and retrieve a 10lb brick, return to the surface, and swim 20 yards back to the starting point within 1 minute and 40 seconds. Lower prerequisites can be applied to Shallow Water Lifeguards. AGE: 15+
Candidates completing the class will be certified in Lifeguarding, Standard First Aid, and CPR for the Professional Rescuer. Must attend all classes.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Recognize specific characteristic behaviors of distressed swimmers and active and passive drowning victims; recognize aquatic emergencies and act promptly and appropriately; perform equipment-based rescue skills and techniques used by professional lifeguards; recognize and care for possible spinal cord injuries; learn to provide first aid and CPR.
PREREQUISITES: Must be a currently certified American Red Cross Lifeguard or within the 30-day grace period of expiration. Must be able to complete all prerequisites of a Lifeguard upon arrival on the first day of class.
LIFEGUARD INSTRUCTOR
This class is for certified lifeguards seeking advanced training to train prospective lifeguards. Must hold a current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification.

WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTOR
American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Course prepares you to teach people of all ages and abilities to swim and be safe in, on, and around water. Must attend all classes.
PREREQUISITES: 25-yard front crawl, backcrawl, breaststroke, sidestroke, elementary backstroke, 15-yard butterfly, 1-minute tread, and back float. All strokes must be performed at a Level 4 skill level.

WATER SAFETY AIDE TRAINING & VOLUNTEERING
Learn how to assist Water Safety Instructors in teaching swim lessons. Participants interested in volunteering in the Palm Beach Gardens Learn to Swim Program will be required to apply and interview before being placed as an Aide.
PREREQUISITE: Must be at least 12 years old, and demonstrate American Red Cross Level 5 Learn to Swim skills.

A favorite of skilled players with limited time. People of various levels play, including some very strong competitors. Formats take ability level into account. Tournaments are held as singles and mixed. Singles are usually played as a ladder, with both women and men placed in the continuum according to ability for 3 matches in an abbreviated format. Our one-day mixed doubles tournaments are usually contested in ability-based multi-round compass draws with 3 matches in an abbreviated format.

FRENZY is just that, continuous feeding and hitting in doubles formation as the pros conduct. Frenzies are very fast-paced and only recommended for stronger players (3.0 and above). If more than one court, pros will divide the group according to ability. Great for doubles tactics and fitness!
CARDIO can be a bit more instructional but is still a very active workout. It’s usually limited to one court with 12 players max. Especially recommended for those returning to the game.

ADULT OPEN PLAY PICKLEBALL OPTIONS
Open play is designed to allow players the opportunity to enjoy, meet others, and work on their game.
BEGINNER ORGANIZED OPEN PLAY is a great way for beginners to learn the game while playing; an instructor will be present to organize gameplay and provide instruction.
ORGANIZED OPEN PLAY features gameplay in a round-robin style format that facilitates play with and against others. A pickleball instructor is present to assign players to courts and coordinate play. These activities are offered at different skill levels to ensure a good time is had by all (2.5-2.9 & 3.0 and Above). These activities are not for beginners. Participants must know the rules and how to keep score. Free to Pickleball Passholders.
OPEN PLAY is meant for recreational purposes and to provide participants with an opportunity to develop and have fun at all skill levels. These Open Play sessions are unsupervised. Participants will be expected to follow general etiquette and paddle rotations for play and always show good sportsmanship. Free to Pickleball Passholders.

ADULT PICKLEBALL FITNESS CLASSES
PICKLE FRENZY is just that, continuous feeding and hitting in doubles formation as the pros conduct. Frenzies are very fast paced. Participants will play a variety of different games each session. Must have a minimum of four players. No class Feb 15-16. R/NR/PASS DAILY FEE: $16/$20/$15

Adult pickleball intensive camps are designed for all players and all levels. Our pickleball camps are the perfect place to sharpen your skills while working on your strokes and growing your knowledge of the game. Lunch is included in this 4.5-hour day.

PICKLEBALL-Stroke of the Month Clinic
Each month our certified instructors will lead clinics with a hyper focus on specific skills and strokes. If there’s an aspect of your game that needs work, these are the classes for you. Each session will end with live-ball gameplay to apply the skills addressed.

RESIDENT (R) AND NONRESIDENT (NR) FEES
Most Recreation Department programs offer a resident and a non-resident fee. To be eligible for the discounted resident fees, a participant must reside within incorporated Palm Beach Gardens municipal limits, and provide acceptable proof of residency. To check residency status, please enter address at pbgrec.com/ residency . If your address does not appear, then you will be charged the non-resident fees.
