Aquatic rentals of the Main Pool and Splash Zone reserves the entire area for your party during your allotted time. Main Pool rental includes all Main Pool attractions. Splash rentals include the Splash Zone attractions, and the Spray Pad.

SHALLOW WATER FITNESS

Join us for a shallow water workout in our brand-new pool! This class is designed to improve flexibility, strength, and cardiovascular endurance all while using the resistance of the water. Shallow water depths provide a cushion to the joints while still providing an awesome workout!

DEEP WATER FITNESS

Enjoy a workout in our temperatureregulated pool. The deep-water aspect of this class is designed to give participants a great workout, all while having a low impact on the body. Classes consist of cardio, core strengthening, and stretching.

PREREQUISITE: Swim front crawls 25 yards with rotary breathing, Elementary Backstroke 25 yards, Backstroke 15 yards, and Breaststroke 15 yards. Submerge and swim 3 to 5 body lengths underwater.

GOALS: Shallow angle dive, swim Front Crawl 50 yards, Elementary Backstroke 50 yards, Backstroke and Breaststroke 25 yards.

LEVEL 6: PERSONAL WATER SAFETY

MAXIMUM ENROLLED: 8 *Swimmers up to 14 years of age.

PREREQUISITE: Shallow angle dive, swim Front Crawl 50 yards, Elementary Backstroke 50 yards, Backstroke, and Breaststroke 25 yards.

GOALS: Swim 500 yards continuously. Survival float for 5 minutes, roll to back and float for 5 minutes. Retrieve an object from the bottom of the pool (depth 7-10 feet), return to the surface, and swim to the start point.

ADULT SWIM CLASSES: LEARNING THE BASICS

MAXIMUM ENROLLED: 8 *Swimmers 18 years and older.

GOALS: Jump in deep water, tread or float for 1 minute, and swim Front Crawl or Elementary Backstroke for 25 yards. Perform 15 yards of Front Crawl with rotary breathing and 15 yards of Elementary Backstroke.

PRIVATE LESSONS

Available for ages 3 years to adults. Each lesson is 25 minutes long and will pair one swimmer and one instructor. Semi-private lessons are possible, pairing two swimmers and one instructor. The instructor will work at the pace of the swimmer(s) to reach their individual goals, working towards water competency, technique, and water safety.

REFUND/MAKEUP POLICY

Refunds and rescheduling are not available due to personal reasons missed. Classes will not be held under the minimum registration. Weekday make-ups for weather cancellations (by the City) will take place on the Friday following the missed class. Weekend make-ups will be conducted following the end of the session. Sessions are complete with 8 classes of 50% of time taught (i.e.: 20 minutes of a level class, 15 minutes of private/ preschool).

HELPFUL HINTS

Classes may reach maximum capacity quickly. If your class is full, please allow us to put you on the waiting list. We will contact you as soon as possible if a spot becomes available.

Private lessons are also available for individuals wanting one on one instruction. Please contact us for more information.

Students must meet the age requirements and prerequisite prior to the first day of the class they are registered for. Students unable to demonstrate competency of the level prerequisite may be unenrolled from the lesson. Accommodations for registering for the wrong level are not guaranteed.

Aquatics classes must have at least two participants. The Aquatics team will move registrants from classes that do not meet the minimum requirement to another class, issue a refund, or find other accommodations.

WATER SAFETY AIDE TRAINING & VOLUNTEERING

Learn how to assist Water Safety Instructors in teaching swim lessons. Participants interested in working or volunteering in the Palm Beach Gardens Learn to Swim Program will be required to apply and interview before being placed as an Aide.

PREREQUISITES: Must be at least 12 years old. Demonstrate American Red Cross Level 5 Learn to Swim skills.

LIFEGUARD

Candidates successfully completing the class will be certified in Lifeguarding, Standard First, and CPR for the Professional Rescuer. Attendance at all classes is required.

AGE: 15+

PREREQUISITE: Must be able to complete a swim-tread-swim sequence:

Jump into the water and totally submerge, resurface then swim 150 yards using the front crawl, breaststroke, or a combination of both. Maintain position at the surface of the water for 2 minutes by treading water using only the legs, then swim 50 yards using the front crawl, breaststroke, or a combination of both. Must be able to swim 20 yards, submerge and retrieve a 10lb brick, return to the surface, and swim 20 yards back to the starting point within 1 minute and 40 seconds. (Lower Prerequisites can be applied to Shallow Water Lifeguards or Aquatic Attraction Lifeguards)

The City’s new, 24-court pickleball facility opened on January 12 to rave reviews. These are an introduction to match play for young people with developing tennis skills. Players should be able to serve and rally with some consistency and keep score. Confidence in meeting new opponents is the key to a “tennis welcome” around the world!

ADULT INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAMS

Sharpen skills and meet new friends! If you are just beginning, returning, or progressing in tennis, there is a class for you!

BEGINNER TENNIS

The perfect class for those new to tennis. Instruction will focus on crucial tennis techniques such as grip and basic stroke development. Each week skills will be revisited, and new skills introduced.

ADVANCED BEGINNER TENNIS

For players beyond beginner level. Each session will work on finetuning basic skills and strokes. Serve and footwork and will be instructed. “Live Ball” rallying between players is introduced.

INTERMEDIATE TENNIS

If you’ve got the basics down but are looking to take those skills to the next level, this is the class for you. Basics are reviewed briefly in each class. In addition, our instructors will work with you to add elements like speed, power, and accuracy to your game. Additional shots are taught, lob, volley, overhead. A favorite of skilled players with limited time. People of various levels play, including some very strong competitors. Formats take ability level into account. Tournaments are held as singles and mixed. Singles are usually played as a ladder, with both women and men placed in the continuum according to ability for 3 matches in an abbreviated format. Our one-day mixed doubles tournaments are usually contested in ability-based multi-round compass draws with 3 matches in an abbreviated format.

ADULT PLAY

FRENZY is just that, continuous feeding and hitting in doubles formation as the pros conduct. Frenzies are very fast-paced and only recommended for stronger players (3.5 and above). If more than one court, pros will divide the group according to ability. Great for doubles tactics and fitness!

CARDIO can be a bit more instructional but is still a very active workout. It’s usually limited to one court with 12 players max. Especially recommended for those returning to the game.

ADAPTIVE TENNIS PROGRAMS

The Tennis & Pickleball Center adaptive programs have expanded to provide developmental opportunities for adults and children with disabilities. All of these programs are conducted by professionals with specific training and experience in the field.

It is the most gratifying thing that I have ever done.” The first lesson is free of charge. This program is supported by a grant from the USTA Florida Foundation.

ADULT OPEN PLAY PICKLEBALL OPTIONS

Open play is designed to allow players the opportunity to enjoy, meet others, and work on their game.

ORGANIZED BEGINNER OPEN PLAY is a great way for beginners to learn the game while playing. An instructor will be present to organize gameplay and provide instruction.

ORGANIZED OPEN PLAY features gameplay in a round-robin style format that facilitates play with and against others. A pickleball instructor is present to assign players to courts and coordinate play. These activities are offered at different skill levels to ensure a good time is had by all (2.9 and Below or 3.0 and Above). Free to Pickleball Passholders.

OPEN PLAY is meant for recreational purposes and to provide participants an opportunity to develop and have fun at all skill levels. These Open Play sessions are unsupervised. Participants will be expected to follow general etiquette and paddle rotations for play and always show good sportsmanship. Free to Pickleball Passholders.

Most Recreation Department programs offer a resident and a non-resident fee. To be eligible for the discounted resident fees, a participant must reside within incorporated Palm Beach Gardens municipal limits, and provide acceptable proof of residency. To check residency status, please enter address at pbgrec.com/ residency. If your address does not appear, then you will be charged the non-resident fees.

ONLINE REGISTRATION

The City strongly encourages all participants to familiarize themselves with the online registration site prior to enrollment. CANCELLATION/ REFUND POLICY

It’s a “hello” to all the wonderful opportunities this new facility will offer future generations. During the renovation of the Burns Road Community Center, the Recreation Department will continue to offer programs at various City facilities including Mirasol Park, Tennis & Pickleball Center, and Gardens North County District Park. The interim program locations are noted throughout this brochure and online at pbgrec.com. Each park and facility address is listed on page 2. The administrative offices will be temporarily moved to the Lakeside Center and will operate Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. All Recreation phone numbers and emails will remain the same during the project. Indoor facility rentals will be available at the Tennis & Pickleball Center and Sandhill Crane Golf Club.

Please be advised that refunds must be requested in writing by filling out an online cancellation form. To complete the form and find specific information regarding how refunds are processed, please scan QR code.

PRIVATE INSTRUCTION IN CITY FACILITIES

RIVERSIDE YOUTH ENRICHMENT CENTER

This licensed, state-of-the-art child-care facility was established to enhance physical and intellectual development in preschoolage children. Teachers use a combination of child-initiated and teacher directed activities to promote curiosity and learning through fun-filled activities. Our program helps children learn how to use their developing language, thinking and motor skills.
