MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Greetings Neighbors,

Here is a recap of the 2023 election results for your new Board of Directors members whose two-year term begins May 10, 2023: There were a total number of 646 homes that submitted a vote and 36 were invalid for various reasons. This is a return rate of 32% of all eligible homes. All three incumbents were re-elected to serve another 2-year term. There are a number of issues that the Board has to consider, and I have hit the ground running as your President to ensure this community maintains its current value as a highly desirable place to call home.

There are still volunteer positions available for the Architectural R e v i e w C o m m i t t e e a s w e l l a s t h e F i n a n c e , P a t r o l a n d Communications Committees. If you have a desire to serve and want to enlarge your scope of friends, please seriously consider picking up the necessary paperwork from any of the Front Desk receptionists or Nelenie or Carol in the Customer Service Office.

Many homeowners leave us for cooler temperatures during our summer months, but our schedule of events on-site or away will not diminish. Debbie is always on the lookout for events that are aimed at entertaining at reasonable prices.

Enjoy the summer weather and stay hydrated, as we can easily become sick without warning from too much sun and high temperatures. An initial symptom of trouble is feeling faint. Don't wait until your body signals you of trouble; drink fluids often, even if you aren't thirsty, as symptoms can come on fast.

Respectfully submitted,

I am honored, humbled, grateful and excited to be elected to serve a third two-year term on the Sun City Aliante Board of Directors, and to continue to serve as the Treasurer My pledge to you is to follow the s t a t u t e s a n d g o v e r n i n g d o c u m e n t s i n m a k i n g informed decisions that are in the best interest of Sun City Aliante Homeowners Association. I thank you for your trust and confidence in me.

My years living in Sun City Aliante have shown that our Community Spirit is high. A strong community association takes a team to be successful. We have many volunteers who serve on our Board of Directors and our committees, patrol our streets, participate in Neighborhood Watch, and serve as officers for our clubs. Our residents consistently enjoy the amenities and events that we offer. We are all very fortunate to have such a thriving and giving community

The Community Managers work with the Board of Directors, Administrative Staff, Maintenance crew, our vendors, and many other professionals. Your Board of Directors and our Community Manager, Damian Carrasco, and our Assistant Community Manager, Nelenie Hernandez, all work together to help protect homeowners' property values and enhance the quality of life for our residents. We work as a team to build economic value and to increase community spirit and foster a sense of “Home.”

Our Lifestyle Director, Debbie Kent, leads our Administrative staff and arranges for star-studded and exciting events for us. Our Breeze publication is top-notch, thanks to the hard work of Trish Williamson, Editor The Administrative staff are indeed the face of Sun City Aliante. They meet and greet all who enter, handle reservations and registrations, and have many other important duties. The Maintenance team, led by Juan Macias, Facilities Manager, is the unseen backbone of meetings and events at our Community Center Every time you enter the Center and one of our many rooms, the Maintenance team has already cleaned and set up the room, coordinated temperature, sound system, AV equipment and seating arrangements. Our Community Center is always sparkling clean, visually pleasant, and all who enter are greeted with a smiling face and welcoming greeting.

The recent Spring Fling event brought neighbors together to meet new people, connect with friends, and celebrate the joys of living in Sun City Aliante. Our community is great because we cultivate a true sense of community and promote active homeowner involvement. Sun City Aliante is “Home” to our residents, staff and volunteers.

Respectfully,

COMMUNITY STANDARDS LIFESTYLE NEWS

Dear Residents, There's No Place Like Sun City Aliante

You have created a community within a community by shaping an award-winning lifestyle. The CAI Award Celebration was held on June 15 in the Vista Room. Residents celebrated winning this major award for the f o u r t h t i m e i n fi v e y e a r s –CONGRATULATIONS!

Spring Fling Social

On May 18, residents enjoyed meeting other residents and participating in fun activities while dining on mouthwatering refreshments and winning exciting door prizes. Everyone had a great time and met many amazing people. Everyone that attended received a logoed Sun City Aliante Sunshade. It is “cool” to look out into the parking lot and see all the cars displaying their “Sun City Aliante” sunshade and promoting this outstanding community If you would like to receive your sunshade, please attend our next mixer this fall.

Las Vegas Sports Mecca

The Las Vegas ACES and the Vegas Golden Knights have earned Championship Titles and Sun City Aliante has supported both teams throughout the years. We have Las Vegas ACES tickets this summer and hope you can see these spectacular athletes in action.

Events for Everyone

The Lifestyle Department offers something for everyone: Free movies in the Vista Room, $15 Music Bingo sessions quarterly, $20 on-site Vista Room entertainment and when we have twenty or more residents requesting a higher priced event, we are selling out!

Fitness Instructors

Please know that we have been doing our best to acquire additional instructors, but there is a shortage in Las Vegas. Instructors must carry their own insurance policy, stay current with their certifications, and spend time creating routines, making it a significant investment on their part. We are so fortunate to currently have a wonderful team of Fitness Instructors and hope to retain them for many years to come.

Hello Residents!

As many of you prepare to head out on your summer adventures, I am sure you have it all planned out -from places to visit, food to eat, and lists of items to buy. However, those of you who prefer a no plans, go with the flow approach, should consider the benefits of vacationing near the water

Water has healing power for our bodies, but studies show it also has power to heal our minds. No one can deny the effects of what the world has been through since 2020 due to the pandemic, culture wars, political strife, and senseless violence by mass shootings. Many of us are understandably burned out, exhausted, struggling to build a balance or even battling depression. Water can help.

Neuroscientists say that spending time near oceans, rivers, lakes, waterfalls, canals, fountains, pools, or creeks can provide a range of benefits including calming anxiety, easing mental fatigue, and rejuvenating our minds. So, if you're still wondering what and where you should spend some time this summer, look for blue spaces. Bodies of water can produce a glorious sensational feeling of awe – this can lead to decreased stress and help us put things in perspective. I hope wherever you choose to go, you stay still, listen, and enjoy

A friendly reminder: Commercial vehicles are not allowed to be parked on the driveway or anywhere in the community overnight unless they are stored in the garage or the company logo is covered if parked in the driveway NRS 116 has regulations for certain vehicles that must satisfy the definition of a utility service vehicle in order for it to be permissible in a c o m m o n i n t e r e s t c o m m u n i t y M o r e o v e r, I w o u l d l i k e t o r e m i n d homeowners who are undergoing any construction, if you must leave materials or equipment beyond your driveway, please place hazard cones in the area to warn pedestrians and motorists.

LAUGHTER, the best medicine: A musician hears of a loner who dies with no friends or next to kin. Touched, he decides to go to the funeral and play his bagpipes as a tribute. Lost on his way to the gravesite, he finally arrives an hour late to find two men shoveling dirt back into a hole in the ground. The musician jumps out of his car, pulls on his bagpipes, and proceeds to play “Amazing Grace.” It's so beautiful that the two men stop shoveling to wipe away a few tears. “That,” says one to the other, “is the most fitting tribute I have ever witnessed to the installation of a septic tank.” – Roger Simmons, Wilmington, NC

Killing them with kindness is taking much longer than I expected. – Vince Rozmiarek, Indian Hills, CO.

In celebration of Independence Day, the Administrative Offices will be closed all day on July 4 and will reopen on July 5 at 8 a.m. The Community Center will be open regular hours, 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on July 4.

No Rest for the Weary

This month we celebrate one of my favorite holidays—the Fourth of July. I remember fondly my trips to the National Mall in Washington, D.C. to watch the fireworks. My mother would pack a picnic supper, and we would head downtown to the Mall early enough to find a good spot to enjoy the concert and fireworks display

In the spirit of Independence, I hope you enjoy these fun facts about July Fourth: • The first Independence Day celebration took place in Philadelphia on July 8, 1776. This was also the day that the Declaration of Independence was first read in public.

• Only John Hancock actually signed the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. All the others signed later.

• President John Adams, Thomas Jefferson and James Monroe all died on the Fourth.

• Every July Fourth the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia is tapped (not actually rung) thirteen times in honor of the original thirteen colonies. (Source: Wallethub.com and Parade.com)

Hello Sun City Residents,

As we embrace the arrival of summer, my warmest wishes go out to each and every one of you. I hope you all had a great Fourth of July, celebrating joy, unity, and appreciation for all of our freedoms. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to update you on all of the exciting happenings in the City of North Las Vegas.

First, I would like to remind everyone about our VIPS (Volunteers in Police Service) program, which offers numerous opportunities for you to get involved and make a positive impact in our North Las Vegas community VIPS participate in patrolling neighborhoods, assisting at traffic collisions and general office tasks. Another way to get involved is by joining our upcoming NLVPD C i t i z e n s A c a d e m y. Participants have the opportunity to gain invaluable insights into the pivotal role that law enforcement officers play within the criminal justice system. Join us and contribute in creating a safer and more connected community for everyone. Feel free to visit our CNLV website for additional details on both programs.

I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation to all the incredible seniors who participated in Operation Warm Heart in June. Your dedication to organizing an animal rescue drive and collecting essential supplies, including food and miscellaneous items, for animal rescues is truly remarkable. Your selfless efforts have undoubtedly made a significant difference in the lives of countless animals in need.

While on the topic of caring for animals, I am delighted to share that Heaven Can Wait Animal Society was recently selected as one of our Businesses of the Month. Heaven Can Wait Animal Society is a nonprofit founded 23 years ago dedicated to preventing unnecessary euthanasia and improving quality of life f o r a n i m a l s i n o u r c o m m u n i t y We g r e a t l y appreciate their dedication to making North Las Vegas the “purr”fect place for our furry friends.

A few reminders as summer p r o g r e s s e s P l e a s e remember to provide your p e t s a d e q u a t e s h e l t e r , access to fresh water, and p r o t e c t i o n f r o m e x t r e m e h e a t a s o u t l i n e d i n Ordinance No. 3053. Let's all work together to create a community that prioritizes the welfare of our beloved animals.

Thank you to Heaven Can Wait Animal Societyrecently selected as one of our Businesses of the Month - for improving the quality of life for animals in our community

Also, I want to let our families know that some of our CNLV sports fields will be temporarily closed throughout the summer for turf conversion. This project aims to improve the quality of the turf by replenishing it with Bermuda grass seed which requires less maintenance and water. A detailed field closure schedule is available on our City's website.

Finally, I would like to remind you that Olive Garden has now opened its doors on "Restaurant Row" at 1250 East Craig Road. This exciting addition to our community brings the delightful flavors of Italian cuisine, a warm ambiance, and exceptional service. Gather your loved ones and indulge in a memorable dining experience at Olive Garden. Bon appétit!

NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH

MONTHLY BULLETIN:

It's that time of year to celebrate the birth of our country. The Fourth of July, also known as Independence Day, is celebrated in many ways from picnics and family BBQs to parades and fireworks. If you plan to buy fireworks, the best option is to buy them locally from a stand inspected by the Clark County Fire Marshal's Office. Safe-N-Sane fireworks are only legal in Clark County during the week leading up to the July 4 holiday. If you do shoot off fireworks, be sure to take safety precautions by having a bucket of water, a hose and a shovel nearby. The loud noises from the fireworks can scare our pets. While some dogs and cats run away from home to escape the noise and are found, some pets end up in a shelter or are never claimed by the owners. Here is a website where you can report loud noises. https://maps.clarkcountynv.gov/AGOL/fw/index.html

FOSTER A HOMELESS PET WITH NEVADA SPCA

Tuesday, July 18, 10 a.m.

Learn about the rewarding and fulfilling experience of fostering dogs, cats, puppies and kittens while helping a pet in need. Fostering helps reduce overcrowding in shelters and opens up space for another pet to be saved. When you foster a pet, you are giving them an opportunity to live in a home where they can fully express their personalities and decompress, work to overcome fears, recuperate from medical procedures and help Nevada SPCA get to know the pet better to find them the best adoptive home.

"Fostering has taught me patience, resilience, and unconditional love. It has shown me the true value of second chances and the importance of making a positive impact in the world no matter how small it may seem to others. Through fostering, I have been able to witness the transformation of scared, neglected animals into happy, healthy pets that are ready for their forever homes. Knowing that I've helped an animal find their place in the world is the greatest gift I have ever received. It is a rewarding and fulfilling experience that I will continue to pursue for as long as I can.”Nevada SPCA Foster Parent Michelle Cortez

Listen to Lori Heeren, Nevada SPCA Executive Director, and Corina Pimental, Nevada SPCA Foster Coordinator, talk about how you can make a difference in your life and the life of a homeless pet through fostering.

This is an update on the Technology Club's most popular topic – Cutting the (Cable) Cord. The trend is clear - Streaming has overtaken Cable because of the expense. You Tube TV is a popular streaming service to replace cable. Come to the Technology Club meeting on Thursday, August 3, 2023 to learn more. We will demonstrate You Tube TV; so, you can see why You Tube TV is the most popular streaming alternative to cable. Depending upon your viewing habits, you could have the same programming at lower cost ($$$).

VETERAN'S AUXILIARY

The Veterans Auxiliary wrapped up their year with a flurry of activity

In the week prior to t h e i r M a y m e e t i n g , m e m b e r s d e l i v e r e d a large donation of paper products and breakfast i t e m s t o H e l p U S A ( t r a n s i t i o n a l h o u s i n g for homeless veterans).

T h e y h e l d t h e i r l a s t regular meeting before their summer break on Tuesday, May 16. After the meeting, Auxiliary members stuffed bags and loaded donations for delivery to Nellis for their military support connection to distribute to young airmen in the dorms and military families.

On Saturday, May 13, they held a successful BBQ for the community with the Veterans Club. The Auxiliary would like to thank all the Sun City Aliante residents who came to the BBQ and supported the Veterans and Auxiliary In doing so, the Auxiliary was able to earn money from items donated for their Opportunity Table. Their hope is that all the attending residents enjoyed their food and socializing. Additionally, the Auxiliary is grateful for all those who donated to the Active Military Donation Box to support the effort toward Nellis & Creech.

The Auxiliary suspends regular meetings during the summer, although there are still activities behind the scenes. Members are busy making lap blankets for VA patients this fall. Meetings will resume in September, the 3rd Tuesday of every month in the Vista Room at 9 a.m. For more information, please contact Julie Tomlin at jtomlin55@msn.com or 208320-8115 or Hjordy Wagner at hwizwag@gmail.com phone: 715-5299728.
