Enquanto continua o debate que decidirá a Reforma Imigratória meus leitores perguntam o que eu acho do assunto. A minha resposta é sempre cheia de esperança. Mas uma esperança realista com pé no chão e observando sempre o que os políticos discutem em seus debates em Washington, D.C. e as discussões na internet. Eu vejo um futuro promissor para os imigrantes que aqui estão onde eles passarão a ter crédito, comprar imóveis, ter melhores condições de trabalho e acesso à educação superior. Vejo também que a Reforma depende da segurança nas fronteiras americanas para que ninguém mais entre ilegalmente. Para muitos, o imigrante é visto como aquele que só quer ganhar dinheiro aqui e enviar para seu país, que não paga imposto mas recebe benefícios do governo. Para que o imigrante indocumentado seja bem visto diante da população em geral será preciso provar o contrário. Antes de se tornar cidadão americano, o imigrante tem de se comportar como um cidadão. Isso inclui aprender a língua do país, pagar todos os impostos, aprender as leis, contribuir com a sociedade e participar da comunidade local americana. É por isso que eu tenho prazer em mostrar na Bate Papo Magazine e TV show os imigrantes que fazem sucesso e contribuem para a sociedade americana. Hope
While the debate continues on the Immigration Reform some of my readers ask for my opinion on the matter. My answer is always full of hope but a realistic hope that is down to earth. I always watch what politicians argue in their debates in Washington, DC as well as the discussions on social media. I see a promising future for the immigrants in the U.S. They will have access to credit and to higher education, buy real estate and have better working conditions. I also see that the Reform depends on the American border security so that no one else will enter the country illegally. In the eyes of many people, immigrants are the ones who make money here and send it back to their country. The ones who do not pay taxes but receive government benefits. In order for undocumented immigrant s to be well regarded by the general public they will need to prove otherwise. Before becoming a U.S. citizen, the immigrant has to behave like a citizen. This includes learning the language of the country, paying all the taxes, learning the laws, contributing to society and participating in their local community. That’s why I’m happy to show in Bate Papo Magazine and our TV show immigrants who are successful and contribute to the American society.
