Music Warm Warren welcome returns for NSW Governor

WARREN is the place to be this Sunday afternoon when Sydney Youth Orchestras’ (SYO) Big Sky Tour will perform a late afternoon concert. Warren Sporting and Cultural Centre will be transformed into a concert hall for the show, which is under the baton of conductor James Pensini. SYO’s talented young musicians will present an afternoon of exceptional music-making in Warren, including the world premiere of Andrew Howes’ specially commissioned choral work celebrating Royal Far West’s centenary. This special performance also features a unique partnership with SING Warren and a special collaboration with Warraan Widji Arts, showcasing the power of collaboration between visiting artists and local musical talent. “The concert promises to be a highlight of the regional cultural calendar, collaborating with the Warren community and creating an opportunity to experience the energy and artistry of one of Australia’s premier youth orchestras in an intimate, accessible setting,” SYO organisers said. “This partnership represents a beautiful meeting of musical minds, where the passionate voices of Warren’s local singers join with visiting young SYO orchestral musicians to create something truly special,” they added. “The collaboration showcases how music transcends boundaries and brings communities together, celebrating both the established musical traditions of Warren and the fresh energy of SYO’s talented youth musicians.”

meeting the elected local government representatives and senior staff at the Warren Council Chambers. After a tour of the community, the Vice-Regal couple travelled to the Warren Museum and Art Gallery (WAM), where they enjoyed a private tour of the facility which the Governor later described as “world class”. They then joined community members for a light lunch organised by council and beautifully catered by Belinda Fitzgerald and served by hospitality students from the Warren Central School.

Her Excellency told the councillors of her great joy in meeting people on her regional tours. “One of the great joys of this job actually has been to get out into the regions, not only to see them, but to meet people,” she said. “What do I feel by coming here? I feel happy. What a fantastic thing,” she added, praising the council for the combination of experience, infrastructure and community-focused activities that she felt were necessary for a community to thrive and succeed. ■
