6. Access to the school gate is strictly controlled and no child is to leave the school premises to play on the street. 7. All students must be quiet in line when leaving the classroom for lunch. All students must be quiet in line when going back to the classroom. 8. Both teachers and students must use stairs with precautions and quietly. 9. Students walking through the office area (Reception area) must do so in a quiet manner to minimise any disruption. 10. A pupil is under school discipline the moment (s)he leaves home for school until the time (s)he reaches home. 11. All students are expected to adopt an exemplary behaviour on their way to school and from school to home as they belong to the school family and thus are reflections of the school’s image. 12. Hence behaviour on school buses and/or in any public places must be irreproachable. 13. Students must respect the school environment and keep it tidy. Pupils should personally see to it that they do not leave litter of any kind about the school or in classrooms, staircase etc. 14. At departure time, at the last bell ring, students are forbidden to rush out of their classrooms and leave the school premises. Stampeding in the staircase is prohibited, as it may lead to accidents and injuries. Teaching and Learning We have high standards and expectations and we help each child to achieve the best of his / her ability. We believe children learn best: 1. through relevant activities which stimulate interest, encourage enquiry and promote understanding. 2. through play and active involvement in mental and practical tasks. 3. when learning is practically based with opportunities to learn by “doing”, observing, solving problems and by experimenting. They also need opportunities to practise and repeat activities. 4. when they have access to a range of activities which allow them to be challenged. It is important they experience success but, at the same time, feel sufficiently confident and secure to risk mistakes. 5. when learning opportunities are set within their own experiences. It is important that we build upon the things that the children have done and learnt at home and outside of school. 6. when they are able to work independently.
