A un año de Catar 2022 El 21 de noviembre de 2022 se inaugurará la Copa del Mundo más… distinta de todas. No solamente por la pandemia, que probablemente no hayamos vuelto totalmente a la normalidad para entonces y nos toque ver algunos cubrebocas, sino además porque por primera vez se jugará entre noviembre y diciembre y no en verano, como había sido todas las 21 ediciones anteriores. Los invitados al momento Además de los anfitriones, que además debutarán en una Copa del Mundo, hay otros 12 invitados confirmados: por Europa son Alemania, Dinamarca, Francia (los actuales campeones), España, Bélgica, Holanda (tras perderse Rusia 2018), Croacia, Inglaterra, y las sorpresas de Suiza y Serbia, que manda-ron a Italia y Portugal al repechaje con riesgo de quedarse sin mundial. En Sudamérica, Brasil, uno de los grandes favoritos, y Argentina, con sus 26 partidos sin perder, ya amarraron boleto también.

Además, el minúsculo país de Catar, con menos de 3 millones de habitantes, es conocido por diver-sas violaciones de Derechos Humanos debido a leyes que perjudican a las mujeres, la comunidad LGBTQ+ y las personas de otras religiones. Las protestas no han cesado, y con todas las polémicas, podemos augurar que seguirán durante los 30 días que dure la Copa del Mundo. Las historias a seguir ¿Podrá por fin Neymar ganar una Copa del Mundo con esta selección brasileña que ha dominado casi todo en los últimos 4 años? ¿Francia, la selección más talentosa, podrá convertirse en la primera bicampeona desde Brasil en 1962? ¿Qué tan lejos llegará la renovada selección española de Luis En-rique? ¿Y la generación dorada de Bélgica en su última oportunidad de ganar algo? ¿Y Holanda, en su regreso a la Copa del Mundo? ¿Qué esperar de la selección de los Estados Unidos con tanta pro-mesa joven, será su momento o esperarán hasta recibir el mundial en casa 4 años después? ¿Podrán Messi o Cristiano levantar un mundial en su quinta y última participación? Lo que sigue En enero continúan las eliminatorias en las 6 confederaciones, y hasta junio conoceremos los 32 invitados a Catar. Poco después se realizará el sorteo donde conoceremos los grupos y los cruces. La temporada de clubes 2022-23 tendría una pausa de al menos 2 meses para dar espacio al mundial. Por ahora, solo queda empezar la cuenta regresiva rumbo a la Copa Mundial de la FIFA Catar 2022, oficialmente a menos de un año de empezar.
