The most exciting part of the Major League season kicks off. After the Red Sox and Dodgers triumphs against their hated rivals, the Yankees and Cardinals, respectively, it's time to review each of the 8 teams seeking the World Series title.
Comienza la parte más emocionante de la temporada de las Grandes Ligas. Tras los triunfos de Medias Rojas y Dodgers ante sus odiados rivales, Yankees y Cardenales, respectivamente, es momento de repasar cada uno de los 8 equipos que buscan el título de Serie Mundial.
American League Tampa Bay suffered a heartbreaking loss in the 2020 World Series, allowed their best pitchers to walk (Blake Snell and Charlie Morton) and its division was by far the best in the entire league. Even so, they achieved 100 victories, the best record in their history, and are placed as favorites of the young circuit to return to the World Series, driven by the same Kevin Cash system and by new players such as the veteran Nelson Cruz and the Dominican rookie Wander Franco. They are favorites against Boston, although there will be absences on both sides. The Red Sox still don’t know if they will have JD Martínez up and ready, who was key to their last championship 3 years ago. Chris Archer, the ace who returned to the Rays this season, doesn't look like he'll be available either.
Liga Americana Tampa Bay sufrió una descorazonadora derrota en la Serie Mundial 2020, dejó ir a sus mejores pitchers (Blake Snell y Charlie Morton) y su división fue por mucho la mejor de toda la liga. Liga Nacional Por primera vez desde 2012, un equipo distinto a los Dodgers ganó el Oeste de la Nacional. Pero no fue necesariamente porque los actuales campeones bajaran el ritmo (solo Cody Bellinger) sino porque su sorpresivo rival tuvo la mejor temporada regular de su historia. Los Gigantes y sus 107 victorias se enfrentarán a los Dodgers y sus 106, la mayor cantidad de la historia entre dos equipos que se enfrentan en la Serie Divisional. Esta rivalidad nacida en Nueva York y que se ha fortalecido en California será una serie para la historia. Los Dodgers aún son el rival por vencer, con todo y la baja de juego de Bellinger, la ausencia de Muncy, y la posible ausencia de Kershaw. The other duel looks more even. Tony LaRussa, one of the best managers of all time, returns to a postseason, now with the young team of the Chicago White Sox. Their terrible division helped them get into the postseason, but while they are talented in all their positions, the favorite is their opposite rival: the hated Astros. Houston had the best offense in the entire MLB, the second-best running differential in the AL, and 5 players with 80 or more runs. The Astros and Rays will likely end up facing each other again in the championship series. National League For the first time since 2012, a team other than the Dodgers won the NL West. But it wasn't necessarily because the reigning champions slowed down (aside from Cody Bellinger) but because their surprise rival had their best regular season ever. The Giants and their 107 victories will face the Dodgers and their 106, the most all-time between two teams meeting in the Divisional Series. This rivalry born in New York and that has been strengthened in California will be a series to remember. The Dodgers are still the team to beat, even with Bellinger's downgrade, the absence of Muncy, and the likely absence of Kershaw. In the other duel, the Brewers, led by pitchers Corbin Burnes and Brandon Woodruff, will face Freddie Freeman and the Braves, with the great absence of Ronald Acuña for months and that limits them as serious candidates.
