Dear friends:

Welcome along, as we once again take a dance-filled journey into the field of Dragonology! This production holds a special place in our hearts at OCT, as it was the last full production we produced before the COVID-19 pandemic forced our doors shut for several years. So, why bring it back so soon? Well, there is a reason this is one of our most popular and top-selling shows of all time. Do you want to know the reason? Do you REALLY want to know? Are you ready? OK…it’s because…dragons LOVE tacos! Yes, it’s as simple as that. This show transports us to a fantasy world where the problems we face aren’t quite so complicated. It’s a world where dragons come to life with ONE burning desire, where temporary chaos ensues as a result, and where a young child becomes the hero of the story. So, for the next hour, I invite you to sit back, enjoy the show, don’t think too hard about it, and let the young people be in charge for once. I promise that, beyond all the silliness, special effects, and the stunning, larger-than-life costumes, there’s a simple lesson to be learned: Let’s not take life too seriously, one taco at a time.

Thank you for being here!

Land Acknowledgment

Every community owes its existence and vitality to those who came before us, and whose lives created the story that has led us to this moment now.

Oregon Children’s Theatre respectfully acknowledges that we are on the unceded traditional village sites of the Multnomah, Cowlitz, Clackamas, Kalapuya, Molalla and many others who made their homes along the Columbia River.

We respectfully acknowledge the stewards of the land and continue the practice of Land Acknowledgment to offer recognition, respect, and remind us of the true story of the people who were already here, and broaden our perspective on our collective history.

In this spirit, Oregon Children’s Theatre pays respect to their elders, past and present. Please take a moment to consider the many legacies that bring us together here today.

DRAGONS LOVE TACOS 4

We’re so happy you’re here! Whether this is your first time at a play, or you’ve seen many before, here are a few things to expect and ways to enjoy the show!

Be Attentive: Look and listen to the actors and musicians on stage. Notice how the costumes, scenery and music help tell the story. You may even be invited to sing along!

Be Careful: Remember that, during the performance, the lights in the theater will be dark, so if you need to move around it is best to go with a parent. Be safe by walking instead of running in the theater. Staying seated in your chair (or on a parent’s lap!) while keeping your hands and feet to yourself (not kicking the seat in front of you) will make sure everyone around you has a safe space to enjoy the show!

Be Kind by laughing when something is funny and applauding after songs! This lets the actors know you’re having a good time. We can also be kind by making sure the folks around us can see and hear the show. It’s easier for everyone to see and hear when we’re in our seats and listening carefully.

Remember that no food or drinks are allowed inside the theater during the performance, so enjoy your snacks outside before the show begins. If you feel overwhelmed and need to take a break, you can leave the theater at any time, just make sure you go safely with a parent. When you’re ready you can come back to see the rest of the show!

Parents, please remember that the video or audio recording of this performance by any means is strictly prohibited. Please turn off or silence any mobile devices that may make noise during the performance.
