ith a doctorate in counseling, Ellen Roberts implemented Social Emotional Lessons at Evans Elementary School in Oviedo last year with the encouragement of School Principal Carol Darnell. Four days a week she visits classrooms among four different grades, helping students identify emotions

and teaching them self-regulation and coping techniques. Each lesson is

tailored to the students’ needs or issues, and she provides individual guidance to students who need it.

Her very important and relevant role and reasons behind wanting a makeover immediately impressed and secured her as this year’s makeover recipient. In her own words: “I am a school counselor responsible for teaching Social Emotional Lessons to an entire elementary school of 974 students! I love what I do, but I am afraid I am looking a bit tired, worn and worn-out! I have to be on top of my game at all times and in all situations. I know that if I look my best, I will feel my best, allowing me to address the many issues and questions these young students have. They look to me for answers, so I would like to ‘look’ like they can trust my answers and advice.” Ellen’s makeover began with a visit by image consultant Lisa Maile to analyze and video her closet, which included “the five looks I wear to school, then repeat each week,” according to Ellen. Lisa found full skirts that add width and not-so-flattering shapes and colors. Ellen’s desired look was professional, yet approachable and engaging for young students, instead of her self-described “worn and worn-out.” Lisa suggested a wardrobe plan with narrow shapes in bright colors and black/white contrast to add height and grant presence, which Ellen loved. Lines close to the body offered a more appealing proportion and an immediate “tall-and-thin” look. The second day’s shopping spree at The Mall at Millenia with Ellen’s plan was fast and effortless, as
