G E N E R AT I O N R I S I N G "We will continue to tell our children and not hide from the rising generation the great marvels of our God—his miracles and power that have brought us all this far." (Psalm 78:4 TPT) I love how this verse uses the term “rising generation” to describe our children, the generation to come! It is my prayer that they will indeed be a generation who rises in faith to embrace a simple, uncomplicated faith in Jesus Christ, in His life, death, and resurrection, that they will worship God the Father, and respond to the inspiration of the Holy Spirit! FE R D I V A N D O N G E N Since 1927, One Hope Canada (and Canadian Sunday School Mission before N AT I O N A L B O A R D C H A I R it) has had a clear vision and focus: tell the generation-to-come who Jesus is and what He has done for us. We desire to tell children, youth, and families about the great marvels of our God, His miracles, and power that have brought us all this far! One Hope Canada, over the years, has grown and developed into a large national organization. How to share the Gospel effectively with children and youth continues to be the focus of camp boards, ministry teams, and leadership teams. The National Board and Ministry Resource Centre Field Team and Support Team make this our focus as well. The One Hope Canada National Board met February 28 in “virtual mode”; 13 board members from across the country joined via computer screens. We trust and hope that we will be able to meet “in-person” in the near future to share with you more updates on how God is working through this mission. On behalf of our National Board, thank you for your continued prayer support and generous gifts to One Hope Canada. To God be the glory!

PRESENT THE GOSPEL The same passion that inspired One Hope Canada founder J. Lloyd Hunter’s mission 95 years ago still drives us today—to share the good news of Jesus with children, youth, and families. Our teams bring the hope of Christ to thousands of people each year through Bible camps, community ministries, digital discipleship, and training opportunities.

AT C A M P Last summer, the majority of our ministry points opened for overnight camping or day camp. In July and August 2021 more than 9,880 boys and girls had the opportunity to hear the good news about Jesus. More than half of these campers came from homes that know little about Jesus, the Bible, or true Christianity. Thanks to your generosity, our frontline teams were ready for ministry.

After hearing several chapel messages and experiencing love from his cabin leaders, a struggling teen discovered that Jesus loved him! He accepted Jesus into his life that week. His cabin leaders committed to staying in touch and praying for him. Janette Blahut, Lake of the Trees Bible Camp, BC

 UNCHURCHED HOMES

Many summer campers had zero faith affiliation. It was incredible to share the good news of Jesus Christ with them! Parents made a point of telling us their kids were sharing the Bible story at home. Angela Ettinger, Miramichi Valley Bible Camp, NB

 BUILDING STRONG TEAMS

After day campers went home, we spent our evenings intentionally building into our team. We saw them grow in their desire to learn and support one another in their faith journeys. Our team was equipped not only for the summer, but for the other ten months of the year as well. Andrew Sevigny, Dauphin Bible Camp, MB

IN COMMUNITIES Our missionaries take the Gospel beyond camp, directly into their communities. This year, they hosted in-person and online clubs, travelling day camps, game nights, and more. Some learned new skills to start YouTube channels featuring Bible stories, puppet-led adventures, and live-stream chapel services.

 COMMUNITY MINISTRIES

When pandemic mandates put a stop to meeting indoors, we got creative. On the coldest Saturday of the year a dozen teens chose to meet outside, huddled behind a heap of snow to listen to a windswept preacher teach about Jesus. When it's a choice between comfort and the Great Commission, with God’s help, we choose the Great Commission. Daryk Legouffe and Nicole Snow, Community Missionaries, Gaspesie, QC

During day camp at a First Nations’ reserve, I drew a diagram to tie my Bible story to the Gospel message. Later a young girl asked if I could draw it again as she missed it the first time. We sat in the grass as I presented the Gospel. It was a beautiful moment. Doug Barr, Ranger Lake Bible Camp, SK

 KIDS’ CLUBS

It is my prayer that the twenty-three girls who attend our clubs each week will have open hearts to the Gospel and will commit to living for Christ. I am always encouraged to see these girls grow up and continue on in their faith. Rachel Mast, Rainy River District Ministries, ON

THROUGH LEARNING

Your gifts make it possible to create quality online and in-person training opportunities for those serving with One Hope Canada, as well provide resources for families and ministry leaders. Your support ensures discipleship continues all year long.

 TRAINING LEADERS

Missionaries, board members, and volunteers can access forty-two online courses—more than 50 hours of training options. They are equipped for specific ministry roles, and prepared to effectively share the Gospel.

Faith Spark, our digital discipleship app, safely connects leaders with children in their ministry. More than 1,400 people actively engaged with Faith Spark during the summer months, continuing important faith conversations.

ON THE AIR IN QUEBEC

The Hope Blog posts family-oriented and Gospelcentred articles, videos, downloads, and more on sharing Jesus with kids. Missionnel.org endeavours to do the same for French speakers. Meanwhile production is underway for Les Pourquoi de la Foi, a video series for teens and preteens that tackles big faith questions.

Jean-Sebastien Morin hosts a popular French podcast on Missionnel.org; it saw 3,013 downloads in 2021. It features ideas and interviews focused on discipleship and sharing the Gospel in 21st-century Quebec.

AN ETERNAL DIFFERENCE Hundreds of men and women just like you make it possible for the next generation to hear the good news of Jesus and what He has done for us. Together we accomplish our goal of sharing the Gospel with those having the “least opportunity to hear of Christ, and especially children and youth.”

We are desperately dependent on God. We accomplish nothing of eternal worth apart from God’s Spirit empowering us, and we practice this dependence upon God by being Christ-centered and Gospel‑focused.

We are completely confident in the Bible. The Bible is our final authority in all matters of faith and practice.

We are continually committed to being family. The Holy Spirit through the Gospel, creates a new community where we intentionally love and serve one another.

OUR CALLING Stories and ministry statistics testify to God’s work through One Hope Canada. There is however a more subtle witness of God’s Spirit at work and it flows from our core values. Core values, like an individual’s character, are not manufactured. A ministry like One Hope Canada won’t find core values by clicking on eBay. Core values must be discovered and nurtured, not invented or curated. One Hope Canada’s core values (page 10) come from a rich and deep history of men and women pouring their lives into telling boys and girls about Jesus. Through the decades they exhibited a sacrificial and desperate dependence upon God, a ferocious confidence in the Bible, and along the way created a bond, as close as family, with fellow servants of the Gospel. BILL MCCASKELL

One Hope Canada’s core values—desperate dependence on God, complete N AT I O N A L D I R E C T O R confidence in the Bible, and continual commitment to being family—are not flags to salute, they are characteristics of how we want to live. It is what our year-round missionaries, summer mission teams, and volunteers strive for. It may not be perfectly evident every time, but we press on, by God’s Spirit, to embody that to which we are called. God accomplished amazing things through your gifts for prayer, time, and finances in 2021. He graciously worked in our own lives and gave us the opportunity to share the hope of the Gospel with thousands of children and youth. For this, we are humbled and grateful.

We present the Gospel, particularly to those having the least opportunity to hear of Christ and especially to children and youth, and we disciple believers for living and serving through the Church.
