a diamond in the rough: Celebrating Our Success and Building the Future Together

LETTER FROM THE CEO

As the CEO of this incredible credit union, I am proud to share a recent milestone that speaks volumes about the dedication, creativity, and passion that drive us every day. We’ve been honored with one of America’s Credit Union Diamond Awards, a prestigious recognition that celebrates excellence in marketing initiatives. This award is particularly special because it reflects not only the success of our 75th Anniversary campaign but also the innovative spirit of a remarkable young talent -Ruth, our 22-year-old marketing associate. Ruth joined us right out of high school, and since then, she’s shown us all what it means to be a diamond in her own right -a testament to the power of nurturing young talent and allowing them to grow and thrive within our organization.

At just 22, Ruth has proven that age doesn’t define capability, and her contributions are a perfect example of what we believe in: giving young people the opportunity to share their talents, develop their skills, and expand their potential. Ruth’s success is not just her own - it’s a reflection of our commitment to helping all of our team members grow, and it’s something we’ll continue to prioritize in the years to come.

Building Our Brand Through Community Connection Partnerships

One of the pillars of our credit union’s philosophy is building meaningful, impactful relationships with the communities we serve. We’ve always believed in the strength of Community Connection Partnershipsalliances with local businesses, organizations, and individuals that help both parties grow. This approach isn’t just about enhancing our brand; it’s about creating a larger vision of community support - one where we all work together to foster mutual growth.

Through strategic partnerships, we can increase our presence in local communities, but most importantly, we can help other businesses thrive. By aligning ourselves with those we serve, we open up countless opportunities for collaborative initiatives that benefit not only our members but the broader local economy as well. This collaborative spirit is at the heart of credit unions. We’re not just about providing financial services; we’re about people helping people. And when we build strong relationships with local businesses, we elevate our community in ways that create lasting, meaningful impact.

As we expand our charter across 13 counties and three states, we are especially focused on reaching rural areas and underserved communities. It’s an opportunity to bring our services to areas where access to financial resources may be limited, and to offer solutions that empower individuals, families, and small businesses. Through these partnerships, we’re not only helping people access the services they need - we’re helping to create stories of success and empowerment that will inspire future generations.

A Call to Action: Join Us in Building the Future

Our mission is simple: we want to serve our members - but we also want to serve the communities in which they live and work. Our success depends not only on the innovative solutions we create within our credit union but also on how we can work together with local businesses, nonprofits, and individuals to strengthen our collective vision for the future.

I encourage all of you - whether you’re a member, a local business owner, or someone passionate about making a positive impact in our community - to join us in building this vision. By partnering with us, we can come up with new ways to serve you, to help you grow, and to ensure that our communities continue to thrive. Whether it’s collaborating on initiatives that promote financial wellness, providing exclusive member discounts, or supporting local events, there’s a space for everyone to contribute to this effort.

Credit unions create stories of people helping people every single day, and our work together has the potential to create stories that will be remembered for generations to come. Together, we can continue to pave the way for a future where our community is stronger, our members are more successful, and our credit union is a cornerstone of support and growth. Let’s work together to make a difference. We look forward to partnering with you.

Yours truly,

stories of the brave: ONE wall of honor

At ONE Federal Credit Union, we believe in community, commitment, and country. That’s why we’re proud to announce our newest community initiative, “ONE Mission: Honor, Remember, Unite,” a heartfelt tribute to the brave men and women of our armed forces.

This campaign, launching May 1 and running through Veterans Day on November 11, will feature a series of events and opportunities to honor the veterans and active-duty service members in our community. From Memorial Day to Veterans Day, we’ll come together to recognize the sacrifices made by those who serve—and those who support them.

Our cornerstone project is the creation of the ONE Wall of Honor, a powerful collection of veteransubmitted stories and service photos. These stories will be collected from May 1 through June 30 via our website or in person at any local branch. Each story represents the strength, resilience, and spirit of our nation.

On Veterans Day, we will unveil a life-size Wall of Honor installation in a special ceremony, allowing the community to experience and reflect on the legacies of our local heroes. Until then, you’ll be able to follow along as we showcase these incredible stories online.

a sweet dream realized in saegertown

A place where memories are made, and dreams come full circle.

What do soft serve, homemade chili, and a 33-year -old love story have in common? You’ll find them all at this Saegertown favorite!

There’s something magical about a hometown ice cream stand—the kind of place that holds first dates, post-game celebrations, and summer night traditions. For Joe and Cami Egli, that magic became much more than a memory—it became a dream come true.

In the summer of 2024, mid-season and with hearts full of hope, Joe and Cami officially became the new owners of the beloved ice cream spot in Saegertown they once visited as young sweethearts. “We used to go on dates here,” they shared. “Owning it has always been a dream of ours. Here’s to never giving up on a dream.”

Today, that dream is alive and well, scooping up memories for a whole new generation of families, friends, and first loves. Under Joe and Cami’s care, the ice cream stand has kept its classic charm while expanding its menu to offer something for everyone. Whether you’re craving a swirl of soft serve, a rich milkshake, a towering sundae, or a specialty flurry packed with your favorite mix-ins, you’re sure to leave with a smile (and maybe a little ice cream on your nose). For those looking for something savory, the full food menu includes made-to-order baskets, sandwiches, appetizers, and rotating daily specials. Their homemade chili and coleslaw have already earned a loyal fanbase.

The Eglis’ passion goes far beyond just great food. They’ve embraced their role as community cheerleaders, investing in Saegertown with open arms. In less than a year, they’ve supported softball teams, participated in trunk-or-treat events, donated to several causes, and backed the Saegertown Cash Bash. This summer, they hope to kick off a community can drive, and their occasional BBQ nights are quickly becoming one of the town’s most looked-forward-to traditions.

What makes their story even sweeter is the way it all feels full-circle. From teen dates under the glow of the order window to now owning that very spot—Joe and Cami are a living reminder that some dreams are worth waiting for. And while the menu may be filled with cold treats, it’s clear that what they’re serving up most of all is warmth, kindness, and a whole lot of community pride.

So next time you’re nearby, swing by, grab a cone or a basket, and take a moment to soak in the smalltown magic—because at this special corner of Saegertown, dreams really do come true.

why do credit unions talk funny?

Why Do Credit Unions Talk Funny?

Credit unions offer many of the same services you find at other financial institutions, but sometimes use different words to describe familiar activities. It’s all part of what makes credit unions significantly different from other financial service providers.

Your credit union savings represent your “share” in the financial cooperative, which is what a credit union is. Thus, you have a share savings account, or, for a fixed-term account, a share certificate account. And if you have an account you use, for example, to pay bills and daily recreation, you have a share draft account, so named because you’re able to draw on your shares. In all respects, these accounts work the same way that savings, certificates of deposit, and checking accounts work at other financial institutions.

Dividends are the share of earnings ONE Federal Credit Union distributes to shareholders— members. Fees and borrowing rates are lower, and savings rates higher, because credit unions are not-for-profit financial cooperatives. Profitdriven financial institutions like banks must make money to pay stockholders in proportion to their holdings. All credit union members benefit from

the credit union’s financial success, but bank income bypasses customers to pay a limited number of stockholders.

Your credit union shares are backed by share insurance up to $250,000. And ONE Federal Credit Union undergoes rigorous examination to assure sound operation and management. ONE received its operating charter — permission to do business and the rules it must observe — from the National Credit Union Association in 1949. The directors and management comply with the charter and also with the credit union’s own bylaws. These are rules that members and directors adopt to define the credit union’s field of membership (who’s eligible to join), set the par value of shares, and describe common credit union functions.

Now that we’re all speaking the same language, call 814.336.2794 or visit www.onefcu.com for information about membership or financial services—on your terms, of course!

Review Your Financial Situation Regularly

financial snapshot: SLOW & STEADY review your financial situation regularly

To stay in good physical health, most people get a medical check-up on a regular basis. To keep your finances manageable, they need a regular check-up as well. It’s particularly important to review your finances if there have been changes to your life in the past year – things like a change in income, marital status, any medical emergencies, or if you’ve had a baby.

What should you be looking at specifically? Are your expenses exceeding your monthly income? – Create a budget and track your monthly expenses. Are you spending more than you bring in? Are you using credit cards to support your lifestyle? If your expenses are getting out of control, use the budget to determine where you need to rein in your spending. Consider using cash or your debit card for your entertainment expenses or luxuries instead of a credit card.

Credit Card debt – Ideally, you should pay off the balance in full each month. If you cannot, try to keep your balance less than 30% of your total credit amount. To control your credit card expenses, give yourself a 24-hour rule: If you see something you want to buy, give yourself 24 hours before purchasing it and see if you still need it.

Emergency fund – Do you have one? If not, consider starting one, depositing a specific amount into that account with each paycheck. Start by putting at least 1% of each paycheck into an emergency fund and aim to save enough to cover 3 to 6 months of household expenses. This will provide you with peace of mind in the event of a sudden loss of income or a major repair bill. You can easily open a savings account to start your emergency fund through our website www.onefcu.com or by coming to our branch and talking to one of our team members.

The first quarter of 2025 has been marked by a steady and stable rate environment. We’ve maintained our higher-than-usual deposit rates, which has contributed to significant growth in our assets. Liquidity remains strong, thanks to the continued strength in deposits. While there has been no change in the Fed Funds rate, discussions continue around potential future adjustments.

On the lending side. we’ve seen consistent year-over-year growth, further strengthening our balance sheet. As our charter expands, we expect these positive trends to continue. With this growth, we’re becoming less sensitive to rate fluctuations, which enhances the stability and resilience of our financial position. Ultimately, these factors work together to reinforce the safety and soundness that we’ve always committed to providing our members.
