Your ONE Wish

WE’RE HALFWAY THERE

The 75th Wish Committee is on a roll having granted over 35 wishes with more to come every day! So far, Make Your ONE Wish has granted $36,938.24 in wishes to causes including:

$4,500 to the Crawford County Fair Building Association for the installation of new rabbit cages.

$1,000 to Meadville Little Gridders for the purchase of new, safer helmets.

$1,000 to Meadville City Police Department’s K-9 Unit for K-9 trainings.

At ONE, we’re familiar with the fact that bettering our communities can look like many things. While we regularly give back by volunteering and granting sponsorships, the Make Your ONE Wish initiative has and continues to show us that the needs of our communities make a big difference in the well-being of everyone involved. While we finish up the rest of the 75 wishes for the year, we encourage all of our members to get involved with local organizations and give back. Whether that be volunteering, donating, or showing up –we all need each other’s support.

EXPAND EXPO CONFERENCE 2024

This past September, a select group of dedicated ONE employees made the journey to Hershey for the Expand Expo, a convention designed for credit union professionals. Over several inspiring days, Jake, Katie, Chelsea, and Megan immersed themselves in leadership and lending training sessions to bring back valuable insights to their teams. Jake, Katie, and Chelsea dove into sessions on team connection, self-reflection, and resilience, exploring the nuances of effective leadership and learning how to lead as multipliers, empowering rather than diminishing their teams. Meanwhile, Megan tackled the lending side, with sessions on Lending for Front Line Staff and Effective Loan Management, gaining fresh perspectives on risk-based lending and decisioning.

Each attendee left inspired and with a wealth of knowledge ready to be applied back at ONE. Jake shared, “I learned a wide variety of things and enjoyed each moment. I brought back a lot of information on self-improvement and leadership techniques, which I’m beginning to incorporate into my day-to-day.” Chelsea reflected on the broader impact, noting, “Expand Expo did just what you would think—it expanded my perceptions on how you affect others and how they affect you.

This experience reminded me of the importance of keeping an open mind.” Megan highlighted the power of innovative ideas for the future: “Expand Expo was super helpful and informative, so much that I’ve been able to use what I learned to strengthen our innovative efforts for 2025.”

Beyond training sessions, the group attended daily Morning Motivationals featuring breakfast and inspiring speakers, which set the tone for each day. Their time together wasn’t only about gaining knowledge; it was also an opportunity to build stronger bonds with one another. This camaraderie has not only fostered closer collaboration but has also strengthened the team’s dynamic, positioning them to work more cohesively and effectively in their shared goals at ONE.

practice safe online shopping

Online shopping is more prevalent than ever. Make sure to do everything you can to avoid becoming a victim of cybercrime:

SECURE MOBILE DEVICES & COMPUTERS

Keep the operating system and application software updated/patched on all of your computers and mobile devices. Also be sure to check that any antivirus/antispyware software installed is running and receiving automatic updates.

LIMIT SHOPPING TO MERCHANTS YOU TRUST

If you know the store, shopping their online store is very safe. If you have issues, you can always visit the brick-and-mortar store. But, if you don’t know the store, be wary. Especially ads for stores that pop up on social media sites. It may be legit but take precautions. Conduct your own background check by checking with the Better Business Bureau or the Federal Trade Commission, or at online sites that review e-stores. If the store isn’t reviewed or doesn’t have good reviews, don’t order from their website.

LOOK FOR “HTTPS” WHEN SHOPPING ONLINE

The “s” in “https” stands for “secure” and indicates that communication with the webpage is encrypted. If you submit your credit card information through a website, make sure the site is secure. Look for a padlock or key icon in the browser’s status bar and “https” appears in the website’s address bar before making an online purchase. Also, keep your browser software up to date.

DON’T RESPOND TO OFFERS THAT SEEM TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE

An online store whose prices seem too good to be true, or that promises too much at too low a price is suspicious. The online store may not have come by these items legally, or you may never receive them, or you may get a bait and switch and end up with something you didn’t order.

NEVER GIVE OUT YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

Don’t ever give your financial information or personal information over email or text. If you receive an email asking for donations, contact the organization directly to verify the request.

PAY WITH CREDIT, NOT DEBIT

It’s safer to shop on the internet with a credit card rather than debit card. Credit cards are protected by the Fair Credit Billing Act and may reduce your liability if your information was used improperly.

REVIEW PRIVACY POLICIES

Review the privacy policy for the website/ merchant you are visiting. Know what information the merchant is collecting about you, how it will be stored, how it will be used, and if it will be shared with others.

BeHUEtiful Tones

PERSONAL COLOR ANALYSIS

Breaking into the local beauty industry with a scientific approach to helping clients uncover their true hues is BeHUEtiful Tones, a small business specializing in personal color analysis.

While color analysis isn’t a new trick, its use has become increasingly popular in the last few years for those looking to simplify and empower their beauty decisions. Business owner, Candi Benek, provides some insight into her clients’ experiences: “Discovering their unique tones has made my clients feel more confident. Many have reported having found they need less makeup, and most have shared that their shopping has simplified by the fact they know exactly which colors harmonize with their color tone.”

For those of us who often find ourselves staring into a full closet thinking “I have nothing to wear!” color analysis may sound like it could be the very insight missing to build a better wardrobe. But what exactly is a personal color analysis and how does it work?

Candi Benek is certified in the True Colour International 12 Tone Method which is based on the science of natural color harmony, accurate interpretation of the Munsell Color System, fullspectrum light theory, and human physiology. Applying this knowledge, Candi assesses her clients’ skin tone through a logical and systematic test color draping process with calibrated drapes in a neutral setting and full-spectrum lighting to help each person find their unique tone.

The TCI 12-Tone Method includes 8 neutral tones; warm or cool neutrals which fall between the traditional 4 seasons, Winter, Spring, Summer, and Autumn. Our personal tone is made of up 3 dimensions, hue, value, and chroma. These are determined by pigments found naturally in our bodies including hemoglobin, keratin, and melanin.

Once the analysis is complete, Candi goes over makeup and clothing swatching with a 65+ color palette that clients receive once placed into their personal tone. And, if you would like to extend your consultation, BeHUEtiful Tones offers additional services including Closet Editing, Shopping Experiences, and Makeup Analysis.

Our team at ONE has also had the pleasure of discussing the world of color analysis when she visits our offices. Like personal tone, each relationship built with our members is unique, and Candi’s is no exception as she shares, “ONE has been a pleasure for me to work with both on a personal and business level. Their rates are amazing, and I love chatting with the staff when making my deposits. I would highly recommend switching your banking needs. I love how involved in the community they are, and how they work hard for us. It shows.”

The Lake Diner

GREAT FOOD, VINTAGE VIBES

On the shore of Conneaut Lake lies one of Crawford County’s hidden gems, The Lake Diner, where the vintage vibes are high, and the food is served fresh with a smile. Recently established in July of 2023, The Lake Diner has quickly made a name for itself as one of the locals’ go-to restaurants for brunch that hits that “classic diner” spot. And, for all of us late risers, it doesn’t get better than breakfast all day, starting at 7 am, and the option for lunch beginning at 11 am.

The Lake Diner adheres to their promise of “Good Food” by serving fresh dishes homemade with quality ingredients. Enjoy your choice of omelettes, breakfast sandwiches, pancakes, and other morning favorites. Or dive into the lunch menu with burgers, salads, classic sandwiches, and soups. Make sure to stop in around the holidays too as you may be surprised by seasonal specials.

While serving as a staple restaurant in the Conneaut Lake community, The Lake Diner serves various local initiatives and organizations.

They proudly support Conneaut Area Sr. High athletes, Conneaut Lake Community Development Committee (CLCDC) projects, Kiwanis of Conneaut Lake, the annual Icehouse Festival, and more. The Lake Diner hopes to continue to grow with the support of their friends and neighbors and community financial institution—you guessed it— ONE Federal Credit Union. Restaurant owner, Amy Detelich, shared their perspective on fostering a banking relationship with a local institution saying, “Having our business account at ONE has been a pleasure, it’s very convenient to visit the Conneaut Lake branch. Melinda and her team are always friendly and helpful, and there are always great promotions and rates to take advantage of. We look forward to growing our business with the help of the ONE team!”
