75 Years Strong!

REFLECTING ON OUR JOURNEY

I’m extremely excited for this year because it’s a big one for ONE. 2024 is our Diamond Anniversary, marking 75 years of providing meaningful financial services to the people of Crawford and Mercer County. We’d like to take the opportunity to celebrate this major milestone as we look back with pride at all we’ve accomplished because of you, our members.

In 1949, a small group of eight employees of the Viscose Plant applied for permission to organize and operate a credit union. With the Great Depression ending just a few years prior and many Americans still struggling with banks to get much-needed credit, this opened significant opportunities to all employees who joined. The newly organized credit union’s philosophy to provide a safe place to save and offer loans at fair rates became the cornerstone of solid financial stability in subsequent years.

Our Mission has ebbed and flowed over the years but hasn’t changed at its heart – to improve the economic well-being of the members, employees, and communities we serve.

Today, our membership is over 12,000 strong, with more than $114 million in assets and multiple offices and ATMs conveniently located to serve our members. Though we’ve grown larger as the years have grown long, we have never forgotten our roots and still abide by the ‘People helping People’ mission of all credit unions.

Throughout the year, we will be celebrating our history while looking to the future. From handwritten ledger books in the 1940’s to high-powered mobile payment apps in the 21st century, ONE has always focused on providing the best service possible to our member-owners. That’s the key to 75 years of success. Looking down the road, this is going to be another busy year.

A big anniversary deserves an even bigger celebration. It’s our way of thanking you for making us 75 years strong! After all, we couldn’t have done it without you, our members.

We aren’t announcing full details yet, but we plan to keep the celebration going. Keep an eye on our website, e-mails, and in our branches as we reveal details throughout the year.

We have fun things in store for the members as the year progresses to celebrate this important benchmark, so stay tuned!

A Big Shoutout!

7 MOUNTAINS MEDIA

A big shoutout to 7 Mountains Media for donating advertising spots on local stations including WUZZ 1280/97.5, Froggy 100.3/98.5, Majic 99.3/104.5 and more. Their contribution not only helped us get the word out about Make Your ONE Wish, but allowed us to take the money that would have been spent on advertising and put it back into granting wishes for the community. Thank you to everyone at 7 Mountains Media who made this possible!

Member Surveys

RESULTS INDICATE YOU’RE SMILING!

We recently rolled out a new member survey program to gauge service satisfaction. You may be familiar with the kiosks and displays in our lobbies that ask, “Did we make you smile today?” Across all five of our locations, we have received a total of 982 responses. Given your feedback, our team is focusing on improving members’ wait time to provide a better experience, and overall, leave you smiling after every interaction. We hope you will continue to leave feedback as we wish to continue improving your experience.

ANNUAL EGGSTRAVAGANZA

We kicked off the spring season with our annual visit from the Easter Bunny and all of the egg-citement he brings with him! All the kids who came to see him got an Easter egg, a craft, and snacks. Fraudsters Aren’t Your Friends

FINANCIAL WELLNESS SEMINAR

ONE is thrilled to announce a series of community financial wellness workshops aimed at empowering individuals to take control of their financial futures. Our recent workshop, “Fraudsters Aren’t Your Friends,” held on February 20th, shed light on the prevalent scams and fraud affecting our community. Participants gained valuable insights into protecting themselves against fraud and identity theft, learned about consumer protection measures in the digital marketplace, and explored how financial institutions safeguard their clients. We engaged in discussions on proactive steps to safeguard personal and financial information, equipping attendees with the knowledge to avoid falling victim to scams. The interactive session provided a platform for sharing questions and personal experiences, fostering a supportive and informative environment.

We Are ONE With Our Communities

OUR PLEDGE TO SERVICE

At the start of the year, as we reflected on the significance of our anniversary, each of us at ONE participated in a voluntary pledge to perform 750 hours of community service as a team. This commitment goes beyond our usual dedication to service as a means to celebrate the communities that have stood by us for 75 years. Over the last 3 months, we have participated in 11 volunteer initiatives across our community.

We are always open to those who need volunteers and donations. If you or your organization requires service, we’re happy to help!

FEBRUARY

2

In February, we asked members to do their part in American Heart Month by donating, learning, and keeping their hearts healthy. The donations collected from members this month helped purchase a defibrillator for the Meadville Public Library, and we sponsored a free CPR class with the Meadville Fire Department. Thank you to everyone who participated. We’re so glad we could help!

Autism Acceptance APRIL

4

This April, we’re inviting our members to join us in giving back to our community by donating funds that will be used to purchase flexible seating for local autistic support programs. Let’s work together to make these students’ learning environment comfortable and productive. Donate at any ONE FCU branch.

Blood

Drive

JANUARY

We invited members to share kindness by donating blood during National Blood Donor Month, a public health holiday dedicated to drawing awareness to the critical public health initiative of blood donation. We sponsored a drive at the Meadville Community Center, providing snacks and support. Plus, some of our team members donated, too!

National Reading Month

MARCH

Last, but certainly not least this quarter, we advocated for the benefits of childhood literacy. While we encouraged parents to engage with their children by reading, we also hosted Storytimes at public libraries in Saegertown, Cochranton, and Meadville. One of our team members, Casey, shared her experience fom reading at the Meadville Area Public Library. “What made the reading storytime so fun was how you could tell the kids were engaged with the books. This experience was a great reminder for how important reading is for children.” Check out your local library’s website to see how they host storytimes.

Emerging Leaders

OUR TEAM IN DEVELOPMENT

Since February, Katie, (Universal Associate III) and Ruth, (Junior Marketing Associate) have been attending Filene’s Crash Course for emerging leaders to develop their professional skill sets. The 10-month program is an immersive experience that teaches emerging leaders how to leverage research, creates a space to participate in group innovation, and connects individuals with other emerging leaders. When asked how the course has been, Ruth shared, “We’re only two sessions in so far, but I’m really looking forward to hearing more about how other marketers in the credit union industry operate. It’s not every day you have a chance to discuss strategies with such a professionally diverse group in your same industry.”
