WECONOMY THREE MONKEYS Three brilliant minds, with each their own area of expertise. And each of them has an impressive portfolio. Daan van der Zanden (20170504), Martijn van Zwieten (20170505), and Sjoerd de Bruin (20170507) have come together as Three Monkeys. Their goal: to offer pro bono consultancy. These gentlemen use their varied backgrounds, passions, and knowledge to selflessly provide organizations with advice. TEXT JAN MEERTENS

rinity Their idea was born at Nyenrode, where the three received their education. Sjoerd: “We clicked right away; we had the same motives but each had their own approach. My weaknesses were compensated by Daan's and Martijn's strengths.” Sjoerd was all about being practical, Daan has a background as a designer, and Martijn already had a Masters in New Media and Digital Culture. They believe that this is what makes their trinity so strong. Daan: “Having entirely different backgrounds brought new perspective to things.” Martijn, who is an Innovation Consultant at Global Talk, emphasizes the trio's synergy: "Right from the start, and still, we're like a pressure cooker full of solutions. It was a way to keep learning and challenging yourself at a higher speed. It's the stimulation, having a beer together, that connection.” Sjoerd adds: “Brothers in arms, that's how I see it. Back when we were at Nyenrode and now once again as the Three Monkeys.” Scotch Whisky The idea for the company name came to them early, during a particularly long night studying for an assignment for a Nyenrode module. A bottle of Scotch with the brand name 'Monkey Shoulder' had ended up on the table that night.
