Working with Dave has taken all of the guess work out of determining insurance coverage and needs for our family—we had previously enrolled in a corporate option, thinking that our best interests were protected; however, Dave’s analysis and insights not only saved us on premiums, but offered us more coverage. He holds the insurance for our home and our vehicles, continually updating us on policies and rates …without hesitation, I would recommend Dave for his knowledge, response rate and genuine customer service.

We have worked with Dave Bruett for only a few years and can confidently say we would never change. Dave's professionalism and responsiveness sets him apart from the other agents we have worked with. Dave is so customer focused he makes things easy when it comes to insurance. Whether it is setting up a new policy, answering my questions promptly, helping get a claim filed or any other insurance related issue he is always right on top of it. I do all my personal insurance with him and when I started my own business a few years ago he set all that insurance up for me as well. Dave is the best!

Colin’s extensive background in home renovation led him to a career in home inspection. Colin purchased his first home and through the process of renovating became interested in learning more about the inner workings of how a home is structured and works. This led him to his career as a certified home inspector as part of RJ Inspections team. Colin is a family man who takes pride in his home. He inspects homes as if they were going to be his own. The passion Colin has for his family and being a father to his
son is evident in everything he does. The home-buying process can be stressful. It should also be an exciting and fun one. Keeping inspections entertaining is Colin's specialty. The importance he places on making clients comfortable and being honest throughout each inspection is crucial to Colin's practice.
A strong influence in his life is his father. He often speaks of his father’s commitment to work, sense of duty, and honesty. These traits, which he certainly embodies, combined with an outgoing personality, have influenced Colin's growth, making him the most requested inspector on the RJ team. Among the lines, Colin’s father quoted, “There is no greater a man can do if he cares
not who gets the credit.” It doesn’t matter to Colin that it’s not his own home he takes pride in what he does and truly wants what is best for his clients.
Colin’s sense of community is exemplified in him taking on the role of Santa Claus at Christmas in the City, supporting an organization that brings joy to underprivileged Boston youth during the holiday season, a role he “inherited” after his father’s passing. It’s one of his most cherished memories. Enjoy sharing your family’s great memories and photos with Colin! Tell him about some of your holiday cheer and experiences to make your inspection the best ever!

PUBLISHER’S
I met Andres Castaneda about a year and a half ago. We were doing the photo shoot for The Fermin Group, who were being featured on the cover of just the third publication of North Shore Real Producers. Due to the weather, we decided to move the shoot from outdoors to inside the Lightshed Photography studio.
The entire team was on time ... except for Andres. He was late, having been delayed in traffic getting to Salem, MA. As time ran on, Dan St. John said that if he’s not here soon, we’ll have to do the shoot and photoshop him into the team photo later.
Thankfully, we didn’t have to do that. Andres showed up late but eventually made the shoot and, ultimately, the cover of our April 2021 issue. He was a little flustered upon his arrival but showed up with a smiling face and concern for those of us already there. I remember him hugging and handshaking with his colleagues.
When I introduced myself, he greeted me like I had known him for years. We had been connected on Facebook for a year or so, and he kept up with my posts prior to launching our first publication. I remem ber Andres asking me all about the magazine and our platform and even mentioning some of the things I had posted. He seemed to really care about my new venture and how it was coming along.
Andres Castaneda tragically passed away this July at the very young age of 25, just a couple weeks short of his 26th birthday. When Michelle Fermin called to let me know what happened, I was completely floored, taken aback and very sad. I can’t pretend to have known Andres all that well, but in my brief meeting, I did pick
up on many of the qualities that Michelle details in her In Memoriam article about Andres in this issue.
Michelle writes this... ‘“Andres, at such a young age, managed to touch hundreds of lives, if not thousands. He managed to live his life every day to the absolute full est, and he did it with the biggest smile. He managed to show us a love that was so pure, so real that we will carry it with us forever.”
I’m saddened that I’m publishing a piece about a well-respected young man, who, rather than being here to see it, that we must do it under these circumstances. However, sometimes finding the bigger picture is equally, if not more important.
I myself tragically lost a brother, who was 16 years old at the time. It was the most difficult thing our family had ever had to endure. I can only think of how hard the news of Andres passing has been on his friends, his family and of course, his mother. Speaking from experience, the pain never goes away. It’s what we do with that pain, how we manage it and channel it into something better.
Maybe the next time you’re upset or feel the world has dealt you a bad hand, find the good in your life, starting with the fact that we are alive, healthy and doing what we like to do. Enjoy and cherish what you have and those around you. From the sound of things, Andres would have, for sure.
Andres, que Dios te bendiga y que encuentres la paz para siempre.

THE INTERIOR DESIGNING CONSULTANT: WHEN VISION BECOMES REALITY
There are those who paint a wall or move a couch or lamp into a room, and then there are those who cre atively and with stylistic knowledge, experience and an adept sense of overall presentation can transform an area to be functional but overwhelm ingly aesthetically pleasing. For the latter, you need a gifted interior designing consultant; you probably should call Ashley O’Shea.
Ashley is the owner of Relux Décor, and just as Drucker noticed, she made a courageous decision to pivot careers; it was the right move for nearly everyone. After graduating from Assumption University (then college) with a degree in Social and Rehabilitative Sciences (think Speech and Language Pathology) with a minor in education, she entered the world of high school Special Education. O’Shea spent a couple of decades working with students, which was fulfilling, but she knew down deep that she was not fulfilling
O’Shea’s mother is a nurse, and her father is an artist — both musically and visually, and she thinks she inherited gifts from both. She made the decision to be a fulltime single parent, but while sitting in her small apartment contemplating their future, Ashley real ized that her meager sal ary would not be enough to support her family well, and she really wanted to find a place where she could impact others and leverage her desires and talents.
WHENEVER YOU SEE A SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS, SOMEONE ONCE MADE A COURAGEOUS DECISION.
- PETER F. DRUCKER
North Shore Real Producers • 17
She loved going to open houses to see what people were doing with their interiors, and she quickly noticed that some had worked with staging. A real estate agent-friend decided to help launch her interest and gave her a home to stage. Ashley borrowed some furniture from a local dealer, picked up some rugs from her own house and stopped to get some lamps from her mom’s house to stage the home.
The phrase, where there is a will, there is a way, comes quickly to mind. Ashley did a superb job, and her first
effort made it to the Boston Magazine under the head ing: “One of the Five Most Stunning Homes to See This Weekend.” O’Shea began working nights and week ends on her new endeavor, and in just two years, she was able to leave her role in education and pursue this dream full-time. In 2018, she decorated a multi-million-dol lar condo in The Four Seasons at One Dalton that catapulted her company into recognition.

GOOD
North Shore Real Producers • 19realproducersmag.com
DESIGN DOES NOT HAVE TO BE EXPENSIVE. AND I AM OFTEN ABLE TO EMPOWER PEOPLE TO MAKE GOOD DECISIONS BY NARROWING THEIR OPTIONS.
The beauty of Ashley’s work is that whether she is helping an older couple with limited means tran sition to different housing or designing a high-end luxury dwelling, clients are able to tap into her knowledge, experience and flair for design acumen. Her strongest role is that of consultant, working with top agents and serving as an extension of their home prep team. After an agent secures a listing, Ashley meets with the homeowners to discuss the many options which will help sell the home. Her DIY background is vital to the process, and she thinks in terms of how the home should be pre sented for the MLS photos.
Ashley is also known for her staging work. She has a warehouse with an abundant collection of furni ture and accessories from which to draw items for staging. While it is true that staging helps to build value in an unfurnished home, she notes that just changing some items and re-arranging is also effec tive. Ashley is quite often rewarded for her work by serving families and individuals with what she calls Rescue Design. She might use someone’s furniture or acquire new items, but O’Shea is asked to work with families again, having helped them with one or two of the earlier options. “Good design does not have to be expensive,” she says, “and I am often able to empower people to make good decisions by narrowing their options.”
Clients and agents are drawn to work with Ashley because of her dedication to details and for the personal attention that she gives. She is adept at bridging friendships, and she is efficient — knowing how to create a good budget and effective timeline.
In addition, Ashley is connected to many resources, so when a client asks for a recommendation for an electrician, lighting supplier or even someone to do curtains, she knows somebody.
For O’Shea, success is about helping people realize their vision and transform their living space. When she does the reveal and sees the smiles, it is almost her payment. Ashley has been helping people all her life, but using her talents to save people time, money and from bad decisions rates very high. She hopes that someday, people will remember her as someone who was likable, talented and witty who helped them relieve the stress of decorating and who helped them complete their projects seamlessly.

Home Organization Tasks for Fall
Fall is upon us, and with it, this seasaon brings change: changes in leaves, changes in temps, and changes in our routines and activities. We’re busily (and maybe reluctantly) trading our sun-soaked summer days for sweater weather, hot cocoa and football games. As we transition to this coziest of seasons, let’s take a look at four fall organization tasks that will prep your home for the chilly days!
1. Swap Out Your Closet
Time to trade those strappy sandals and tank tops for cozy sweaters, scarves and boots! Use this time to put your hands on each piece you own and ask yourself whether you’ve worn it in the last year and whether it still brings you pleasure. Donate items you’re finished with to your favorite charity or consignment shop.
2. Pack Up the Patio
Pack away all outdoor kids’ toys (wipe them down first!), out door cushions and pillows, umbrellas and hammocks. Cover your outdoor furniture with waterproof, heavy-duty material to protect it from the cold-weather elements.
3. Organize the Garage
Start by pulling everything out into the driveway and clean ing the floor well. Next, get rid of anything you haven’t used in two years, that you no longer want, or that is broken.
Then, organize what’s left by use, such as tools and sporting equipment. Storage is key. Use hooks, pegboards and wall shelves to lay everything out in a way that makes sense for your family.
4. Prime the Kitchen for the Holidays
For many of us, the kitchen is the heart of the home, and many of our fondest holiday memories revolve around time spent cooking and eating with family and friends. Now is a great time to organize and swap out seasonal appliances and linens; move the dishes you’ll use most, such as mugs, roast ing pans and casserole dishes, to convenient locations. Take the time to replace any expired, essential spices.
While these tasks may seem overwhelming at first, remem ber, the sooner you get them done, the more time there will be to sit back with some apple cider or a hot toddy and enjoy the season with those you love.

DELIVERING BEYOND EXPECTATIONS
Cody attended Southern New Hampshire University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Operations Management. While in college, he earned his way by working for a cleaning company, basically functioning in the task of his degree. After his graduation, Cody was helping his parents who were selling his childhood home, and he began questioning the agent helping them. After a lengthy discussion, the agent asked Rogers, “Are you a real estate agent?” Cody told her that he was just inter ested in real estate, as his father had flipped homes and had a construction company.
From that conversation, Cody was hired by the agent to become the office administrator. Sure, he was moving to California in the near future, but both agreed that he could work until the move. Then, the pandemic hit, and like most of us, plans changed. Rogers not only stayed, but he eventually took his test and obtained his license. Now you know the rest of the story!
Having someone recognize his talents/gifts was a game-changer for him, and he loves being a part of a relationship business. Cody says that every one has a story (which is so true), and the many different stories, situations and issues are Cody’s invitation to “dive in” and figure out how to help these families. “My relationships and interests go far beyond the closing tables, and I love the fact that each journey is a great way to demonstrate proper customer service,” he notes.
The other big game-changer in his life was his decision to embrace fitness and develop a healthier lifestyle. Everyone who knows Cody knows that he is primarily focused upon his work as an agent and then secondarily on fitness. During his new commitment (2018-2019), Cody lost 65 pounds, and he says that he also gained a new focus and drive, which empowered him for more change.
Cody Rogers loves to find the expectations and then deliver beyond them. He receives a lot of referrals, so his business philosophy is working well. “I always try to take my customer service to the next level; I learned very early the value of this mantra, and real estate helps me prove it on a daily basis,” says Cody. In fact, this definition is how he describes the concept of success.
Strategically, Cody tries to build his business with the idea that he must always deliver more than what is expected. He credits his father with teaching this to him, and he notes that his dad always used the best quality to build with and that he also did things the right way. Rogers credits his formation of new friends when he left home and his propensity to say “yes” to different things for the development in his life too. Though he is quite committed to fitness, he still loves to find new places and things to eat.

After a brief time in real estate, Cody still has some sage advice when people ask. He immediately challenges people to find someone in the business who will teach them and train them the right way to approach real estate. It is vital that newbies under stand what the job is (stop watching HGTV), and he values the importance of treating it like running a business. “Know your brand, be consistent and always remain hands-on,” he chides.
Rogers thinks that the best agents are genuine — always being themselves and that they work hard to build trust and are adept at finding clients in their sphere. He loves being a part of an industry where the opportunity is endless with many open doors, and he
even has a license to sell in New Hampshire. He hopes to expand into the state more, and he is very excited about the new merger with his brokerage, which he feels will open doors into the Boston market.
Someday, we will probably read about Cody’s emer gence into forming a team, but for now, he is busy supporting his amazing company and his vigilance of perfecting his timing and mindset.
Regarding legacy, Cody hopes to leave a history of modeling qualities such as loyalty and kindness, and he hopes that people will remember him as a good person and friend and that they knew him for what he stood for as a person and not just his career.
Know your brand, be consistent and always remain hands-on.

By Michelle Fermin, Team Lead, The Fermin Group
in memoriam
Andres CASTANEDA, THE FERMIN GROUP, CENTURY 21 NE
1996-2022
Andres Castaneda was one of the most genuine, sweet and inspiring souls you will ever meet. His love for people, real estate, development, cars, motorcycles and most importantly life was incredibly special.
He was one of the top producers not only on his team, The Fermin Group, at Century 21 Northeast, but was an industry leader. He was a mentor, a cheerleader and a true friend to all. His passion for his clients went well above just a real estate transaction. You see, Andres understood that being that special type of professional meant finding the perfect home. He would go above and beyond, often following up and pitching in with renovations, ideas and labor. He had an amazing work ethic, because of this, he befriended everyone that he helped.
As his young career blossomed, we watched him motivate others to achieve their own goals. Young adults like Mike McLaughlin, Joe Abdou, Kayla Mendoza, Frank Guzman, Matt Tran, Jason Martinez and so many countless others are in this business because of Andres. You see, when someone reached out to Andres and asked about what he did, he not only would 100 percent make himself available to them, but he would also mentor them. He would invite them to shadow him, he would push them to success and always push them to the next level. Andres held back nothing to make sure that they, too, were successful.
I heard someone say at his vigil that Andres did not have a jealous bone in his body — that is the absolute truth. He knew that by helping others, he was also growing himself spiritually and emotionally. It truly made him happy. He gave them 100 percent of himself, never holding anything back.
I first met Andres when he was a freshman in high school. He was a bright-eyed, skinny kid that had a smile bigger than life. Even as a young man, he was infectious, radiant... He possessed the type of light and energy that you wanted to be around. He was relentless, motivated, goal driven way beyond anyone that I had ever met — especially at such a young age. He was always looking for mentorship and guidance.
When Andres turned 18 and graduated from Central Catholic High School, he said, “Momma [because that is what he would affectionately call me], I want to be like you. I know what I want to do with my life.” He knew he wanted to not just sell homes, but he wanted to help people achieve their dreams of home ownership and build wealth. After enroll ing at U Mass Lowell, I had no choice but to let him in, making him the youngest person to have ever joined our team. That’s who he was — he set a goal and would not stop until he achieved it. He was relentless.
Within our own real estate family, Andres was the first to congratulate someone on a sucess, the first to yell “LET’S GO”! He was genuine about it, and he was truly happy for them. He was the first to reach out when he noticed that someone was not “present” in chats, asking how they were. Not just, “Hey, how are you?” but “How are you, really?” He was always looking out for others first.
“Andres is someone that has forever changed the lives of those who knew him. His work ethic, positivity and amazing character will never be forgotten.”
North Shore Real Producers • 33realproducersmag.com
I personally witnessed doz ens of times when Andres met someone for the first time — you could just see in the other person’s demeanor that they were instantly drawn to him. He was the type of man that you would walk away from — and just say, “Wow, what a beautiful being.” You see, his kindness and love for others just oozed out of him. It was contagious; it was just him.
Andres knew everything that he wanted to achieve in this world, and he wanted it TODAY. He could not wait until he made that first million; he could not wait until he had those hundreds of properties — everything was go, go, go, and he wanted it now. He was very hard on himself about it but yet always pushed himself for ward. Even a car ride with Andres was how fast can I get from point A to point B. He would talk about things like leaving a legacy behind. At 26, he was talking about leav ing a legacy when most 50 years old that I know can’t even begin to comprehend that. There is no doubt in my mind that Andres would have been able to achieve every one of these goals and just crush them.
Andres, at such a young age, man aged to touch hundreds of lives, if not thousands. He managed to live his life every day to the absolute fullest, and he did it with the biggest smile. He managed to show us a love that was so pure, so real that we will carry it with us forever.
I asked our team to use one word to describe Andres, and this is what they instantly came up with: special, vibrant, kind, fearless, welcoming, influential, pure, inspiring, genuine, passionate, motivated, loving, driven, go-getter, caring. I heard them say that Andres taught them how to not only push themselves to success but to make sure that they enjoyed the fruits of their labor and just live life. He reminded us to express how we felt about one another and do it often. Saying things like I love you, I care about you and want you to succeed. We do that every day now in honor of him.
Andres’s family was incredibly special to him. His mother, Iris, sister Gabby and brother Emanuel were a huge motivating factor in his life. He wanted to be a pro vider for them, a rock, someone that they could always count on, and that is exactly what he did. His friends were an extension of his family. He included them in all of his successes. He made sure that they all knew how much he loved them and he believed in them. He was a true leader in his group of friends. His two boxers were like his children, Apollo and Sophie. They were constantly loved and looked after by him
Andres’ presence in the car community was well respected. Alongside Matt Tran, he hosted two big car shows in Lawrence that were a huge success. True to his character, he made sure that everyone enjoyed themselves and were able to just smile. He loved to see people happy.
While mentoring at the Vocational Technical High School, Andres would go out of his way to connect with each and every one of the young adults that participated. Often having field trips to different projects, he was working on and allowing them to shadow his showings. He would teach them how they, too, can not only get into real estate but build wealth. There were 17- and 18-year-old kids that he knew he could make a huge, positive impact in their lives. He looked for nothing in return but the satisfaction that he had made a differ ence. He was always giving back.
Andres was very proud of his hometown, Lawrence. He wanted to help develop it and change the stigma that it once had. He supported young developers and projects that were changing the face of the city.
Andres is someone that has forever changed the lives of those who knew him. His work ethic, positivity and amazing character will never be forgotten.

eal estate is more than capable of creating issues, problems, chal lenges and a host of other fun obstacles, but the best agents find a way to overcome. Occasionally, how ever, some have an additional mountain or two to climb. It is fascinating how people approach their circumstances. While some may be very busy soliciting extra benefits and emotional support, others see it as an opportunity to leverage a newly formed ability or strength. We ask ourselves how this can happen, and until we meet someone who models it, we might be unable to understand. Meet Michelle Theriault!
Michelle grew up on the eastern seaboard and learned to love the ocean. After college, where she studied photography, she tried to launch her career in commercial photography. She later worked in food service and was very successful in selling jewelry by booking
IF YOU HAVE A WILL, YOU WILL FIND THE WAY!
home parties. She even won a trip to Hawaii. As she began to help friends and family in finding their newer homes, it became apparent that she was finding her niche. She decided to take the test and plunge and become a real estate agent.
RThat is where the story gets quite interesting, for Michelle has always been faced with the rigors of dyslexia. She describes its effect by noting that she has no trouble reading but that composing sentences and even many words is a struggle. Unlike her counterparts, she cannot just show up for class and take notes to study later. She is always on the hunt for aids that bridge the gap to help her learn — like Quizlet, an online study program. With a busy life, four children and a husband to care for, Michelle tackled the preparation for the license exam in her moments when others were in bed. She passed, and for eight years, she has been guiding people through the maze of buying or selling a home.
“I was lucky to have Susan Santin, an agent in my office, as a mentor. I knew how to buy and sell property, but initially the ‘paperwork’ process was difficult. Susan stepped in - without my even asking – and showed me step by step what to do. Susan was extremely help full end it was so appreciated.”
Michelle is an energetic person who has learned to “find another way” in her life, and she does it quite often. While most people have a conven tional perspective on how to get to the next level, Michelle knows that there are many roads leading to success, and along the way, she employs different strategies to arrive.

When asked about the impact of the learning disability, Theriault’s response was immediately inspiring, “It has really helped me in so many ways.” Sure, all of the struggles you might imagine exist, and she jokes that Siri has been a true friend — helping her to spell things constantly, but Michelle chronicles at least three areas where she has been strengthened.
The condition has made her tenacious! She pushes herself very hard to accom plish goals, and once she finishes one, she has already started the formation of the next one. That tenacity bleeds over into her ability to advocate for her clients, and it certainly helps during negotiations and conflict resolution.
Michelle also learned to evaluate the things that she is good at and the things where she is not as good — leveraging her strengths to accomplish the task. She says that she loves buyers and sellers, but she has learned to work quite well with buyers. “I am sort of a house therapist, and I can truly understand my clients — even despite the informa tion they give that may be confusing to others. I find creating bonds with clients
very easy, and I can see obstacles as just part of the equation,” she notes.
Michelle’s mantra is, “If you have a will, you will find the way.” Since some tasks that others take for granted need special attention, she is used to being flexible and creative, and she always stays in a positive mode. She says that she is “always open to a different outlook” and that “things will work out possibly even better” if we remain flexible. This perspective has given Michelle several opportunities to help clients who have been through several attempts with no home to show for it. Michelle understands the process and knows how to execute.
Theriault is married to Matt, who sells medical equipment. They have four children: Michael (25), a machinist; Kelly (24), a hairstylist; Jessica (22) who just graduated with a degree in hospital administration and policy, and Brendan (13) who is in junior high school and who has also been diagnosed with dyslexia. The family loves to do anything outdoors, especially spend time visiting towns along the coast on their boat — just as Michelle grew up doing.
Michelle defines success as always believing that you can. “Never let a disability hold you back,” she says, “and balance your work with your passion.” She loves to help motivate other people too, and she never gives herself any other option than to meet her goals. She started a long-distance swim ming group and built it from one companion to ten. Her energy helps her get over the peaks, and there will be no way to change how she approaches life. That is a good thing!

TYLER HICKEY, HICKEY HOMES OF CAMERON PRESTIGE TYLER HICKEY,
REAL ESTATE:
IT TIME!
“Life coaching is about drawing a person’s potential out, developing his strengths and letting him see that weaknesses need not remain crutches for the rest of his life.”
Author: James Browning
When you call Tyler Hickey and ask him how he is doing, he will most likely tell you that he is living the dream. You laugh, and then he asks about you. What is interesting is finding out about his journey in life and real estate; his comment brings on a whole new dimension. Tyler is energetic, present and thought ful, and one of his greatest attributes is his determi nation to make himself, his family, his team and his industry better; he just needs a little more time.
Tyler’s wife has watched him for a few years, and to her somewhat amazement, she sees him take on new goals/plans and then not take his foot off the pedal until his new habit/process is in rhythm. It is a great trait, and clients appreciate his tenacity and drive as well.
refers to the ability to orchestrate your life so that all needs and some wants are met.
Like many of us, Tyler left home at the young age of 18 and pursued a college degree — in his case, Florida. For the 20s, Tyler admits to working in bartending and sales but, more importantly, to try ing to discover everything fun that life has to offer. His exploration was comprehensive, and some of his decisions were not the best. In the end (age 29), he returned home to Massachusetts and focused upon three crucial areas of his life: his physical, mental and spiritual health. This pivot would ulti mately change his life.
From 2015 to 2021, Tyler met his wife, Kathryn, and married her. The couple had two sons: Theo (3) and Wyatt (1 and a half), and they have estab lished a great life as a family around their home in Amesbury. Hickey was working in painting, but he considered the overall impact of the work to have a ceiling lower than his heart desired. He decided he wanted something different for himself and his family, so after a conversation with a friend who is an agent, Tyler launched his real estate career. He now confidently leads a team, and each day he gets up — very proud to go to work — for his family, for his team, for his clients and for himself.

For Tyler, success comes in many different packages, and it does not have to do with working hard and playing hard or entering the race to become rich. It is about having the acceptance of where your life is at this moment and enjoying those moments. The big gest game-changer in his life was when he realized that things had to change and that it was vital that he change to a healthy lifestyle. Hickey went from a life characterized by no direction to one that was managed like a champion, and he knows that many others need the same result.
Hickey lives by the mantra, “Faith over Fear.” “Things happen in real estate; you know, lots of things can go wrong, but if you can give IT some time, work through it in a positive and constructive manner while being engaged and present, great things will happen,” he explains.
Tyler has been on the accelerated learning tract in real estate, and that does not bother him. He says that the best agents are sponges who never quit developing and, in time, become the “go-to” people in real estate.
There is so much potential in this industry; building connections is just dipping your toe in the water.

Things happen in real estate; you know, lots of things can go wrong, but if you can give IT some time, work through it in a positive and constructive manner while being engaged and present, great things will happen.
“I remember a guy called me once to say that while passing a home for sale, the sign used the word, ‘contingency,’ and he wanted to know what that meant. I told my wife that I had become ‘his guy to call’ for real estate needs, and within a year and one-half, I was his agent for a newer home,” remembers Hickey.
Of course, Tyler remembers that the early years for an agent can be very bumpy and bruising, but he also knows that putting in the time and working hard will pay big dividends. To gain the most, Tyler has a strict schedule that contains all his priorities: like his morning workouts and time to put the kids to bed to name two. He tries to be coachable, and he gives huge kudos to Cameron Prestige, who does an excellent job in training agents to navigate the
market, learn about investments and in helping agents to follow systems that keep everyone on the right page.
Hickey Homes is a celebration of the work of several who give 100% to become better agents and people. Sean Moody, Travis Anderson and Vickie Gallant all make the secret sauce, and with sales over $32 million last year (54 transactions), it appears to work better than fine.
Going forward, Tyler hopes to create even more opportunity for his team to do well, and he wants to continue to build a culture that people want to succeed in. Since his business grew organically, he sees its growth pattern to follow the same. He will, like always, give it a little time!

“Shocktober”: A Spooky Month for Investors?
Welcome to October, one of the most feared months on the financial calen dar. Why? Take a look back in history, for precedence:
The Bank Panic of October 1907. This six-week financial panic led to multiple bank runs, widespread public distrust and heavy panic-selling at the exchange. Halted by a J.P. Morgan-led Wall Street conglomerate, the crisis led to the for mation of the Federal Reserve System.
The Wall Street Crash of October 1929 (the Great Crash). Described as a “bloodletting on an unprecedented scale,” a combination of low wages, rising debt, a fraught agricultural sec tor and unfettered market speculation led to billions of dollars lost and many bankruptcies … and, eventually, the Great Depression.
Stock market crash of October 1987 (Black Monday). Known as the first contemporary global financial crisis, this chain reaction of market calamity sent international stock exchanges plummeting over several hours. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) fell 23% on this unhappy day.
Financial crisis of October 2008. Possibly still a sore point for some readers, this 777.68-point DJIA crash was brought on by irresponsible lend ing, government bailouts and erratic interest rates, and led to peak unem ployment levels and a speculative real estate bubble.
As the old saying goes, history repeats itself … and history is certainly worth considering when it comes to the mar ket. Experts point to several reasons
for the so-called “October effect.” In general, summer months tend to be low volatility, leading stockholders to become relaxed and less attentive to signs of its slowing. When the inevitable happens — and it typically happens in September/October — spooked investors make a quick exit all at once, upsetting the balance en tirely. The following fall, the psycho logical impact of the previous year’s fallout plays out and … the cycle continues.
To break the cycle, market experts advise keeping a clear head and staying the course financially as the leaves start to turn. Relying on your investing knowledge, experience and technical skill — rather than emotion — will help you navigate whatever the financial future holds.
Just when you thought hair-raising ghosts and creepy crawlies were the biggest scares this month…
