Child Care Services: Capital Overview 2020 Capital Projects Review: In 2020, the 2019 Health and Safety Funds Carryover and the 2020 Health and Safety funds were 90% depleted. A sheltered play area in the Infant/Toddler playground was built. Staff purchased outdoor riding toys, new drinking tumblers, cot sheets, learning materials and room supplies, as well as "loose parts" learning materials for the school-age programs. Additional items will be purchased by the spring of 2021. Staff utilized the Spinrite Annual Funds and other donations to enhance the outdoor learning equipment and replace furnishings in the Staff Room. The highlights for 2020 was the construction and set up of the new Family Grouping Child Care in Monkton and the set up and implementation of the new Child Care at the St. Marys Catholic School, Listowel. Despite the pandemic, these were very positive collaborative efforts working with the City of Stratford (CMSM), North Perth Library Staff, Elma Logan Recreation Staff and the Huron Perth Catholic District School Board. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, Staff were unable to complete the renovations to the entranceway of the North Perth-Spinrite Child and Family Centre. This will be a 2021 carryover project. 2021 Capital Projects: Staff will complete the renovations to the entranceway of the North Perth-Spinrite Child and Family Centre. Plans have been in place to create a more inviting and welcoming space for our families to come through, including upgraded seating, meeting spaces for the community and increased visuals on the wall spaces. The City of Stratford (CMSM) allocated funds to the Municipality to set up an EarlyON Room at the new St. Marys Child Care Centre. Again, during the pandemic this was not a priority as EarlyON programs are only offered virtually. Staff plan to have the EarlyON Room ready in the spring of 2021 to offer programs in this new space.
