North Perth Public Library: Operating Overview

2020 Review 2020 Review and 2021 Outlook

The 2020 Operating Budget was, once again, positively impacted by Development Charges as a result of North Perth’s growth. As North Perth’s population grows and changes, this collection funding received from Development Charges allows us to be responsive to the needs and expectations of our new residents.

2020 was an interesting year for the North Perth Public Library. The evolving COVID-19 situation required the NPPL to adapt to meet the needs of our community. We began lending WIFI hotspots, enhanced our digital collection and modified our in person and virtual services. The new PCIN Courier partnership began in March 2020 and we welcomed patrons to the new Monkton Branch Library in October 2020.

2021 Outlook

The 2021 Operating Budget for the North Perth Public Library Board is a status quo budget in terms of service levels.

The increases included in the 2021 Operating Budget are attributed to:

Cost of Living Adjustment, step increases and part-time staff benefit provisions Increase to computer maintenance fees

The operational budget has been adjusted to include the rental fee for Monkton Branch Library at the Elma Logan Recreation Complex, as well as the costs of carrying the existing facility for three months.

Due to the unforeseen nature of the pandemic, we anticipate a decrease in potential revenue from overdue/printing/faxing fees.

Respectfully submitted,

Sherri Berfelz, Co-ordinator or Public Service North Perth Public Library
