From September we are changing the school day for staff and students at Rokeby School. At the moment, we have a split break and split lunch. This worked very well over the past few years when we were returning after the pandemic, however it is time to change this. From September we are going to move back to a single break and a single lunch for all. This has a number of advantages for our students and staff:
break and lunch will be at the same time for all staff and students lunch will last for 1 hour instead of 45 minutes - this will allow all students to get through the lines and be served period 5 will run from 2pm - 3pm everyday the playground will still be separated - Y7 (middle space), Y8 and Y9 (space by the sports hall), Y10 and Y11 (space by the 3G) more activities and clubs can now run at lunch time as students will have enough time to have lunch and take part students and staff who pray at lunchtime will now be able to do so in a less rushed manner and have lunch.
Taking part in the Brilliant Club was a great experience. Our topic with our PHD tutor was on how chemists can solve the problem of antibiotics resistance. Our PHD tutor taught us a variety of skills and techniques to write our final 1500 word assignment on the topic. We also got to visit UCL for our graduation. The trip to UCL showed me how unique a university student's life is from our lives My journey in Brilliant Club has been amazing and the things I have learned along the way will surely come to use when I need it in further education.

On Monday 1 July 2024, year 9 and 10 cricketers were invited to participate in a cricket masterclass at NewVic They were given a talk from Enam Hoque who played professional cricket for Bangladesh. Enam Hoque is in charge of the cricket academy at NewVic and encouraged the students to think about applying to NewVic in the future to develop their cricketing careers. He provided the group with an insight into his journey in becoming a professional cricketer and how his parents encouraged him to be the best he can be. The practical session provided an opportunity to upskill their cricketing talents in batting, bowling and fielding.
The group games were very competitive and the students displayed an impressive level of skill
Asraf M 9R said it was the best trip he has been on and was very grateful to NewVic for providing the opportunity. For more information or to join our Cricket Club, speak to your PE teacher.
Congratulations to our Y9 and 10 cricket team who played brilliantly in their emphatic win over Forest Gate Academy finishing 122/4 to 43/5 Some top batting from Mohammed Arham and Zain Khan led to 3 of our 6 player team needing to take retirement and some accurate bowling from Abdul Irfan ensured that Forest Gate could not catch the strong opening score.
